If a dev ever reads this Please dont allow this portion of the event to run more than a few weeks. It really disturbs the flow of the event, and punishes players who actually participate in the event to have it last longer. Because, the quest items are hard to obtain, but after a few weeks they become very common.
I may well be wrong in my thinking but as I personally see it, I think that the game should address the needs of
all players, those who can connect several hours a day and those who can only connect a few hours on the weekend.....
The Developers, I think, must also look at the scarce time that many players can spend in the Event (i.e., for example, only on weekends...) to decide the time frame that the Event is let to run in order to allow
enough time to at least the widest range possible of players to participate
in full to the Event.
The success of a game, as I see it, is when most players are pleased not just a minority....
Yes people may complain that they didnt have enough time to complete, but hey, if you cant get the books in 3 weeks you really shouldnt be worrying about the game that much.
Why would it be like that ?
Does it say before buying Ultima Online that one has to spend several hours playing daily as a requirement ? Not to my knowledge......
Besides, even though for school is coming summer time, a LOT of UO players are players with a family, work and they often are not able to play week days, even if they wanted to.
These players often can only play weekends and often not even both saturday and sunday because there is stuff to do at home, with kids, family and all that.
Three weeks could only mean for many players a few hours to participate at the Event, definately not enough to complete the 10 documents requirement.
The game
already has extremely short Events often missed by many because of their very short window (EM Events), let at least Main Events span a time large enough to accomodate the largest number of players possible, even those with limited playing time.......
Think not only of the players who cant complete the event during a three week period, but also that many players might not be around in the next couple months. Id rather have a fast flowing event chain, that is completable by 80percent of UO players, than long running events that 100 percent could complete one section, but only perhaps 30 percent actually be around for the months it can take to complete a full chain.
Uhu ???
The Developers should now think for players who will no longer play the game in the future to come and not assist players who, even considering their reduced playing time because of real life will keep being subscribed ??
If someone plays the game 1 hour a week and pays for the monthly subscription month after month to the game, as I see it, thanking to the continued subscription paid appears to me a resource to the game instead of someone who plays 15 hours a day for a month and then, perhaps, unsubscribes......
I am sorry, but I think differently. Players who can only play a limited time,
especially because they cannot often participate to EM Events having too short a time window for them, should at least be given with Main Events a time window large enough for them to participate and complete their Event requirements as much as possible.
So, I am all in favour of each section of the Event spanning for a time long enough to accomodate both scarce playing time
AND whatever the requirements might be to complete that Event section.
For the current Event we are talking about, I see 2-3 months are the minimum time to also accomodate those players who can only play on weekends.
