Thief Guildmaster won't take my gold and let me join --- Help please?

I'm thinking I meet the basic requirments to join..

Char is years old.
Real Stealing skill: 86 currently
Snooping: 0 (on stone for now while reworking temp)
I'm on Siege
I'm not in factions or a players guild --- never have been.

I found a Thief Guildmaster, said "Chistopher join" and he says, " There is a fee in gold coins for joining the guild: 500"

I drop 500 gold on him and it lands in my pack.. he won't take it and I'm out of ideas.. I'm sure it'll be something obvious and I'll feel a little dumb..

Please tell me so I can feel dumb (and join the dang guild!)

Just keep trying. You can join the thief guild on Siege with no stealing and no time on the shard. It's kinda nice for those players who want to use the disguise kit...la

Hmm... I've tried about 50 times in the last 30 minutes..

ME: "chistopher join"
Him: give me 500 gold.
ME: Drop 500 gold on him and it land right back in my pack.

rinse / repeat x 50.... Are you saying he'll randomly 'accept' my payment one of these times and I'll be 'joined'?

Try to find another guildmaster to drop gold on. there is one in Cove almost always...la

In which case you need to drop the gold on the ground so Christopher can steal it. =]

The same as with the npc trainers you must give the npc the gold right next to them. Not sure if that was the problem, but it is always a nuisance.
