These damn runic saws

Ok its time for me to moan im affraid hehe.

Its these damn runic saws i just dont get them. About a year ago i thought id tackle a few of the heartwood quests. I like to dabble in as much as i can and i went looking for the runics.

I started with the fletching kits and allthough i never achieved a heartwood kit i got some oak and ash ones with little problem.

When i got to the saws however nothing not a single one and ive never ever gotten one. Back then i used a whole 60k of wood by then i just gave up. Recently i thought id try again and not much luck still im currently upto 50k wood burnt and not a single saw of any type.

So i guess the question i have is what the heck am i doing wrong. Surely to god people arnt useing 100k wood + before recieving a single saw.

i'll just keep at it and someday i'll get one

Yes people are using that much wood to get saws... I get a heartwood maybe every 100k-300k wood I use... Its that silly most people don't try and get them anymore unless there scripting but because of all the dupes there so many in the market it doesnt matter..

Whats even worse is... go log on to test and burn one and see what ya get but do it in intervals of whatever that runic would normaly give.

imo your better of saving decent loot of of monsters and hoarding it until imbuing skill is introduced then you have a chance of making somthing u can use not just toss in the trash barrel.....sadly all that junk that's left can't be easily scrapped into materials again only ingots and leather funny isn't it..

on test i burnt through all the ash wood i could get 3 bags worth and didn't have 1 good bow out of a heart wood kit so far.... like i'm gonna pay 15 mil on my home shard to waste 1 mil a chg...

Ok thats another 60k done out of 120k ive received nothing.

Its not about the heartwood as such if i got it fantastic. But im not getting any of the saws. People have said they are getting at least a saw per 20k mostly ash and oak. But im using so much more wood and nothing at all!

Leading me to believe am i doing it correct? Gm carpenter armslore making footstools :S i dont see how i can be doing anything wrong.

I here ya somthings fishy w the whole game.... normaly i make some really good armor.. but lately i burned 48 kit's and didn't get 1 piece that was outstanding normaly i make several.... rng is on a roll?

Im determined!!! As of this morning i finished another 60k of wood making 180k total not a single saw!! is there enough trees in europa?

I quit trying to get the saw around about 200k in wood and went and bought some and was very disapointed in the turn out. You are doing everything right though. I read some where that the devs where going to fix the drop rate of the runics all around, but we'll see if that ever comes to light. maybe if they put a few more of them in game then you wont have to pay 15 mil for a heartwood runic...LOL I could only hope!

Burnt through 7k oak boards after reading this thread and on my very last quest managed to get an oak runic saw, so they are still dropping at least.

Well i finally got an oak saw! at around 285k of wood used! This has got to be the stupidest method for getting runics!

A friend was also doing this quest alongside myself and was getting a saw of some type at least every 20 - 30k so just shows how rediculas this system is.

Message to the Devs 'Sort it out!'

You used Oak and got an Oak saw... Does wood type determine what you get? or does wood type increase your chances for better wood used?

Does it have to be making footstools, or could you kill earth elementals and boglings to get them?

wood type has no effect, and there's only two quests, as far as I know, that gives them - The Harp one and the foot stool one.

Some might use Oak as it's value as for an enhanceable resource kinda sucks. Ash has SSI, Yew has HCI, Oak has Luck, and Luck/DI on weapons... but not many people are looking to enhance/craft with Oak.

So might as well burn it trying to get a runic =)

about 120k wood and i have gotten 1 oak saw 1 ash fletcher tool and 2 oak fletching tool probably spent 90k on bows/xbows training then wanted to make skill fishing poles wanted saws spent 30k wood on footstools got sick of the lazy elfs and their foot fetish decided to spend some gold on a pile of oak ash yew saws even bought one heartwood the heartwood was a big waste of gold but the others were decently priced i thought got oaks for like 5k each ash for 100 and yew for mill and a half. I can make a mill in a day easily farming miasma on my sampire.

is it posible that the toon/players lvl of luck has any thing to do with it?

I had to do a lot of digging to find this one. This was an experiment started by CatLord of (then) Catskills.

These tests were repeated between July and October of last year by a few players with results +/- 5%:

For the last months I have been testing luck and crafting.
This was tested on the fletching quest, doing bows.

Luck 0, 20k wood... 81% of backpacks had 1 item.
Luck 1600, 20k wood... 17% of backpacks had 1 item.
Luck 2030, 20k wood... 04% of backpacks had 1 item.

Maybe Luck changes it... ?
Anyone has any information on this one?

While I've never seen official word on the matter, the numbers seem to indicate that luck affects the crafter's quests a lot.

Yes surely people are doing it. I do it in different sittings over a few weeks, but over the past year when I have bothered AND did receive one, it took on average around 300k in logs. I never did have any luck receiving a heartwood either.
