The Watchers

Izznet H'unar

Journeyman
Sitting down to a steaming mug of coffee had become a favorite evening ritual. Izznet and Avalon made a most unlikely pair and to see them was comical, but they enjoyed each other’s company. Sharing tales of the day or adventures found in listening to others filled their moments of quiet while watching the setting sun.

It had been several days since the last time they were able to sit together, and there was a great deal to discuss. Avalon had taken a position of Healer at a local clinic. She was both nervous and excited at the opportunity to apply the ancient mystic knowledge.

Wisdom of the mountains spoke of earth magic few deemed worthy to tap. Avalon had studied it and used it for centuries with her Charge. She knew the value of listening to the world around her. Earth and Sky were her teachers and she embraced all the lessons they were willing to offer.

Watching her cousin fly into the sunset had been a bittersweet moment for Avalon, but as one flew away another emerged. It is no surprise that Avalon’s clan reaches far and wide, but the new sentry was hoped to bring a degree of comfort to the loneliness Avalon had been wearing as a cloak. Poe would be a welcome addition to their House.

With spring in the air, a new age of general peace seemed to also be growing. Many hostilities were laid aside, it was hoped they would remain thus for a long time. With the peace came a new sense of revelry, along with a bath house. Izznet had already spent a bit of time testing the waters. There had even been an added bonus of a masseuse.

A wayward Dark Elf had wandered around Skara Brae and run into Aedon. Her employer was decidedly absent and she had taken upon herself to wander off to find another path. Utterly lost and knowing she was in grave danger, it was hoped she’d find someone willing to take a chance on an ‘evil elf’ with no discernable value.

Aedon had seen the girl around the tavern and noticed the lack of enthusiasm she had shown in her work. Izznet had suggested he seek her and see if she were willing to find new employment. When Hun’ep was found, the offer had been made and accepted.

A new night was settling in with the subtle kiss of a warm breeze. A smile stretched across Izznet’s face without her noticing. For the first time in generations her heart was full.
