The perils of weaving!

Can anyone tell me why I can smelt a pile of ingots in one second (barring failure), Chop 60k logs into boards in a like amount of time and yet have to spend the better part of a day to turn 3000 measly wool into cloth?

I think its about time to make it so that a stack of wool used on a spinning wheel turns the entire stack into yarn, and then the same for looms.

I acquired a stack of 3400 wool when I bought my castle and have spent the last 2 hours spinning and looming it and have barely scratched the surface of that stack. And that's using 5 spinning wheels. No wonder the original owners left it behind...

I agree, we should only be able to turn logs into wood at a lumbermill. Only five at a time. Only five ore at a time should turn into ingots.

Saws and tongs are overpowered!

UO Assist FTW.

Record 2 macros. One with wheel and than one with the loom. Just need the appropriate pauses and your golden.:thumbup1:

...

EC macro system can do it as well... just set up the macro accordingly with the right delay, hit the hotkey and let it run :)

I do use the 2 macro system with UO assist. Pack weight limitations make it a bit tedious and while I agree it certainly is less likely to give you carpal tunnel, it is still very time consuming when compared to other resources. I'm not griping about difficulty, its the huge amount of time it takes to do that has me scratching my head.

Herein lies the problem,....along comes the ability to instamorph what used to be logs, or raw ore into the desired state. So much time saved!!

Now it needs to be tailoring, then maybe cooking, ooo ooo ooo, let's go to alchemy......Ultima used to be about TIME. It took time to get from point A to point B. It was about appreciation, and value in what you achieved.

So, converting wool takes time. Does it all have to be converted this week?
Stop scratching and remember appreciation and accomplishment. Though it's a small personal achievment, it's still yours.

You wanna know how much valorite ore I'm sitting on, because I only smelt it in small amounts?? :thumbup1:

The only problem I see is that the design was flawed from the start and has simply never been fixed. If you are one of those "Its the journey not the destination" types, then more power to you. This particular journey is one I have taken since beta testing, its just a commute to me now. A long, boring commute I autopilot through.

You talk about achievement, fine. Award legendary tailors the ability to mass convert wool/cotton into cloth and everyone else can do it the hard way as punishment for not having "Journeyed" enough.

The difference I see is that I am not asking for monsters to simply fall over and drop gold at my feet as I approach, I am simply looking for a faster solution to a process that can be automated through macros and doesn't even require me to be at my keyboard to complete. (technically)

I'm glad you take pleasure from the more tedious aspects of the game, but the reason most of these systems have already been changed is because they sucked.
