NEWS The King's Contest: Fishing Tournament

King Blackthorn has issued a challenge to all Fishermen (and women) in the Kingdom. All Fish caught on or between March 10th and March 30th are to be weighed with an honor going to the largest "Legendary" or "Trophy" fish - which will be mounted and hung on the wall of Castle Blackthorn for all to see. The Smallest Weight fish will be given to the Cooks of the Castle for display on the Kitchen Tables and the Largest Weight. In addition, the Largest Rare or Legendary Crab/Lobster will be cooked for the King's Table (displayed on his plate). These items shall remain until another such contest replaces them.

Fish dated prior to March 10th, or after March 30th will not be eligible. Please drop off your best catch in the chests by the King's Throne in the Council Chambers on Serpent's Hold before Midnight on March 30th.​

Please note that to win the "Largest fish" and be mounted to display on the King's Wall, it must be a "Trophy" fish that can be mounted. Many of the entries can not be mounted and are not "trophy/Legendary". The post above has been edited to move the non-trophy fish to the "Non-Qualifying" section.

For a list of appropriate fish - please see the "Trophy" column on this page from UOGuide.

The small fish and crab/lobster classes do not require mounting so the field is open to any Rare/Legacy fish/crab/lobster.

I absolutely agree with Wee Willie. That should be very doable, and all could change each year of the repeated (excellent) event...

I agree with Willie. It would be nice to be able to just *see* what all of the fish look like mounted, rather than looking at little graphic images of them on webpages! Of course, there might be a need to build a special Fisherman's Guild house to display them all!

I like the idea, but I am not sure there is enough wall space in the King's Castle. Now if we had a really big castle like the Trammel sides have I'd find a way.

Not to complain but why is a 20 pound Reaper Fish listed in the top, and my 80 pounder is in the non qualifier list ? Just curious.

The classes of winners for fish are:

1.) The Largest Legacy/Trophy fish (I'm accepting anything that can be mounted except the "big fish" - only the specially named ones.)
2.) The Smallest Fish (no qualifiers on this as it is not being mounted).

At the time the 20 stone reaper fish was added, it was in a 3-way tie for the smallest overall fish. The 80-pound reaper-fish is already well out of the range for the smallest fish, and it is not one that can be mounted, so it fell to the non-qualified class.

The displayed scale of "qualifiers" is a little confusing due to the conflicting criteria of large vs. small.

Fishing quests. You need a lot of fish to do these, and crabs/lobsters. Just a hint. Dont turn down any quest no matter how small they are.

They come from starting and maintaining a running quest for the Fish Mongers. To do this you can't drydock your ship or it breaks the chain and you have to start over. Some people like doing these quests so that they can acquire good stuff like baits and scrolls, which they can then share with others. Most of the time free of charge. However some people like to go out into the deep water and scuttle other peoples ships when they really had nothing of value on them, they just like to grief people for no reason at all. I hope that little burst of adrenaline you got was worth it you Pirate Wanna Be. Sure if someones lazy and leaves their empty boat on the shore instead of dry docking it, blast away and leave it wrecked. If someones actually steering the boat at the time, blast away , wreck it, board it and have your way with the poop deck wench. If a boat is parked out to sea and it's got 15k stone in it, it's probably an afk fishmongerwhore...blast away and leave it wrecked (and empty). But if you see 6 items, 12 stone. It's just a questing fisherman, who's not allowed to dry dock their boat. And they would just like to be left alone..you big loser....
