Ahh someone else actually noticed? About time. I have been having trouble trying to find the character lores and biographies for a while, as well. The new layout of Stratics front page made it easier for a lot of other things, but makes you jump through hoops to get to it's obviously still existent lore pages.
I wish they would fix it, make it as accessible as it was. As it is, UOGuide has a growing character and lore section. I usually check there if I have too much trouble here.
As far as Lathiari and Kyrnia, that story looks like the same one I read originally. I don't remember too many details being in it about them being lovers other than the subtle hint. It's been a while since I read it, though. I am probably mistaken.

That's the bit I remember. I think the mother was embellished though. I don't remember her being quite so upset over them being unable to cure her.

That story looks the same to me. I referenced it years ago when I made my article on The Black Necklace, and researched the Liche Twins quite a bit. I don't see any changes there.
I had noticed the History and Lore section too. It's depressing. But Stratics and UO are supposed to be working on this stuff, so I've hoped that it will be back in a big way. Just have to wait and see, I guess.

I will hope that as Trebr stated, biographies and uo lore will not remain hidden from players, which it currently it.

While I do not hold lore to be sacrosanct, I do take it seriously, hence I'd like to know what on Earth this is all about.

Galen, front page, right column, bottom, go to "Lore, History, and Archives".
You won't find much of the Lore and History of what's happened in UO. What you'll find is the lore and history of old game mechanics and the like, mostly.
And I guess that makes sense to someone who thinks of this as "just a game" instead of "a world". Much like when Crazy Joe decided that archiving news was a bad idea and stopped it.

I rarely use Stratics's front page....What I have discovered, though, is that when I use Google or Yahoo or another search engine for just about anything in Ultima Online history or lore, Stratics is one of the first hits and usually one of the most useful. I have contributed extensively to the lore articles on the UO Guide, and Stratics was one of my most important sources. When I contribute to Martyna's GL-specific wiki I also use Stratics extensively. (Not exclusively mind you, but extensively.)
So based on my experience, Stratics has a nice treasure of lore....But if the original post was about the front page I'm afraid I can't speak for that, only to the utility I've found in the content itself.

Hrmmm...
Ok, I'd like to see old articles posted (in order) and each with a reply section, so players can add things they've noted. Or even try to throw others off, if UO's going to have that sort of "Player vs. Player" in it.
And a "Submission" also, for things that have been missed.

Well, the point was that new players wouldn't have a clue, as you can't find all that stuff you are referring to anywhere from the front page.
You'd have to do a search, and most new players won't understand what all those articles are exactly. And that, you know, "this" is the lore and history in this game?
He also mentioned that he thought that the lore on the Liche Twins had been rewritten at some point and changed, and didn't reflect what it used to. As you can see, the rest of us didn't think so.

Liches are noobs now.. They've had like 6+ years to get with the program and buy some artifacts and get some resists, but no go. They get like 2 shotted.
Hmm, my apologies, I'll see what I can do to improve access to those sections. I admit that I concentrated on getting the site up to date with current play information before considering history.
The Herald archives, including BNN articles are now available - The link is under 'Official UO Information' at the top of the right hand index menu or just enter your search criteria in our custom google search at the top of the left menu.
oki, I've copied the 'lore and history' links from the 'quest and events' sub menu - which is where they've always been btw - to the 'history and lore' heading at the bottom of the right hand menu. I've also re-named the probably misleading link there to 'archived playguide pages'
