I started a new account today in order to place a house on a lot close to my main house. I placed the house, and made a character on my main account co-owner by putting him under the house sign, logging out, logging in the new character, hitting the sign, and targeting my main account character. However, when I tried to reverse the process, putting the character from the new account under the house sign of my main account and logging off, when I login with a character from my main account, the new character was invisible.

A page to GM and got someone called Lydhek, who first told me that characters are no longer visible after logging out which I knew was wrong since I had just done it. Then the GM told me GM's cannot help with house permissions and I should ask the fan base, so here I am. Is there some different mechanism for co-owning a house than the one I've described. Any help would be appreciated.

I have always had the character attack something before using the method you describe. That will keep them logged in and visable.

your account might still be "young"?

that could be why your char is auto logging out.

Also, UO changed the rules, you can now open two clients at once.

You can? Damn why didn't I know this...wouldn't have to keep logging in to EC when I want my other account to do something for my main.

It was changed almost a year or so ago. All you have to do is open another client via the Classic Client shortcut not thru UOAssist, and a warning box will appear stating that it a unsupported feature. You can have as many clients open as you want it all depends on how many accounts you have and if your computer can handle it.

Did they change the 7 day thing for house placement? Recently when adding another account (brand new because I am sick in the head) I couldn't place a house with him even after renouncing young status.

Depends... if it is a "trial account" it can not place a house. If it is a "paid account", then it can. An old boxed set for AOS, 7th age, 8th age, etc. all came with an expansion code, and a new account with 30 or 45 days of game time included. An account opened with one of those can place a house immediately.

When I was Pirate Hunting, I would run three accounts simultaneously. Two using the EC and one using Classic Client. You could probably run as many versions of the clients as you have accounts limited only by your available memory.

Ahh!! That was probably it, he was still running in trial mode or whatever. Makes sense to me now as the CC wasn't hit until later. Thank you.

Yes, young chars auto log anywhere. Since it's a new account, that's where he's running into trouble. Easiest would just be for him to open two clients.

Wish I could be young again, and go/do things that didn't even exist 'way back then'. I dropped the status asap so i could do all the 'cool things' w/ my friends. I'll never see some of that stuff now.
