You can blame high prices in UO to illegal gold farming. Most people know this but here is a refresher. UO intended that gold like everything else was to come at a pace where the older the account probably the higher the amount of gold collected. Inflation from outside sources did not keep pace with the pay outs in game and soon the outside sales of gold bottomed out.
Gold is so cheap to buy now that many players don't even bother to look for gold in-game. Below is just an example of the cost of doing business in UO.
The current cost of gold purchased on the open market is 1 million gold for $1.00 US. Using this as a guideline I have put together a scale from UO gold to real money.
50,000 gold = .05 cents or .04 EU
100,000 gold = .10 cents or .07 EU
150,000 gold = .15 cents or .11 EU
200,000 gold = .20 cents or .14 EU
250,000 gold = .25 cents or .18 EU
300,000 gold = .30 cents or .21 EU
350,000 gold = .35 cents or .25 EU
400,000 gold = .40 cents or .29 EU
