The Castle Contest Voting-- Community House Previews (IMAGE HEAVY)

With a minute timer for each view, it's going to take almost five hours to teleport around and see every house.

Some of the designs are pretty easy to eliminate at first glance--they just aren't to your taste and you can tell immediately--so let's have a first glance thread.

Unfortunately my current schedule does not allow me to do this entirely on my own, so I hope we can take this off as a community effort. If this takes off and fills up, we can all save each other some time and frustration teleporting around and waiting on timers.

It would also serve as a reference so you can go find a design again if you remember liking one but can't remember which one it was. We can work together and make this easier for everyone!

See the second post in this thread for example of what to post here.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Claim a sequence of designs that is immediately after the previous poster. Post your claimed sequence. For example: I will claim 1-10. Whoever goes next should claim 11- however high they want to go.

2. Visit all of the buildings in your sequence range and take at least 1 screenshot that gives you the best view of the building that you can. One screenshot is sufficient.

3. Edit your post to include all of the pictures, labelled with their sequence number, name, architect, and type, in the order they appear on the stone.

PLEASE ONLY POST AS DESCRIBED ABOVE IN THIS THREAD. If you want to discuss this thread separately, start a new thread. This will keep the information as tidy and easy to reference as possible.

Things that I look for for choosing one to vote on:

1. Does it look like a "Classic" House, in that other people would want to live here?
2. Does it have too much personalization?
3. Does it have space to customize?
4. Is it easy to move around in?
5. Does it meet the name Castle or Keep in some form?

Going with the classic theme, I think its easy to see many that are done up amazing, but just offer way too much customization and personalizationto work as a home that may be duplicated EVERYWHERE. Think about that, there will be more than just your custom house, there will be many of these. Open spaces, with correct building tile could be big to allow for the crafted granite to create your own rooms and style.

I also think its important, being a classic house, that it looks like, functions like, and feels like a classic castle/keep. This means overuse of water features, grass covering the room, rooms on the roof, being one big giant cube can hurt their function (though I did choose a few that had these things, done well enough to overcome or they do fall in line with the flow of the house). Footprint I think is very important for a classic house. They are all recgonizable immediately, These winners should be too.

Another point I hit was the number of flaws. Misplaced windows, stairs leading to door openings that dont line up, and things of that nature that render the aestethic of the house rough or the usage of areas non-functional ruled out many. I got the feeling some were overwhelmed with the amount of time it took to customize a 31x31 plot, and rushed many pieces that do stick out.



These are my favorites below, there were twice as many, I cut them down based on some of the criteria above:


Castles

32 - Pink Floors bugs me a bit, otherwise nice gothic style
59 - nice, simple, different, gothic style makes for a nice castle
136 - looks good, marble style is a bit off putting for a castle, but it is clean
141 - this feels like a non-cube medieval castle, and done up with room to customize =P - would live here
143 - simple, basic, a castle in a classic sense
178 - very nice, despite grass roof being a no-no to me. Cube-ish
206 - clean, marble. Not castlish, but more "mansion"
255 - an up to date take on the classic castle - would live here
285 - really nice castle, just wish there were stairs to the bottom floor - would live here
290 - similar to 285 but different - would live here


Keeps

19 - reminds me of wayne manor or something, but good design
35 - sandstone keep, and looks great. My only complaint is the upper rooms access
101 - the only "heavily detailed, personalized" one i think could make it, really nice
113 - looks like a keep, some unused space and stuff, but defined look
132 - like a sandstone mansion
187 - villa style, reminds me of a vineyard home
202 - sandstone take on a keep, looks great for something different but classic.
219 - like a villa on steroids, looks good
232 - its a keep, and has a defined look

I want to thank you for all of your hard work. This made it very easy to weed through all the designs and pick ones I wanted to go look at. The one thing I wish is that I saw some very good Keep designs that I wish could have been Castles but I have it narrowed down to 2 open Castles designs thanks to you all.

Ehehe thank you very much ! I know isn't the right design for a castle because there isn't much room inside, but, as fan of LOTR, i couldn't resist with a so big nice plot

After visiting a bunch of them, I ended up going with 180. A little plain on the outside but very usable on the inside. Plus the roof is wide open for anything I want to do on it.

#33 wont open up to you... until you visited it and walked "down" (!!) both stairs.......

oh i should add, 290 has stairs leading to the dungeon/first floor in the front rooms/towers. They're hard to spot because i placed them near the non 'show' walls (South East corners)

By the time i figured out where i wanted to put the stairs in 285 i flat out ran out of time. By the time i got home from work it was over. It's a shame cause out of my designs it is my favorite. I was going to do the chopped L shaped stairs in the front rooms.

Just wish we had a couple more weeks and the ability to use craftable stone masonry. If they are allowed i found out too late for this one but will be better prepared for the next one

oops! i just found your stairs on 290 lol. i agree, 285 is awesome. TBH It may be worth winning even without the stairs, just toss some house teles in lol. I wish the Devs would allow for a few "fixes" to be done before they are placed in classic menu. Maybe that can be petitioned

After visiting a bunch of them, I ended up going with 180. A little plain on the outside but very usable on the inside. Plus the roof is wide open for anything I want to do on it.

#52 and #75 have much better floor layouts, all those rooms in #180 are set up wrong.

#52 or #75 for the simple floor plan layout and lets you have the entire plot, all 4 stories, to do what you want inside. These two are the most functional of all the Castle designs.

Fair enough, I didn't want another castle (or keep) with the thick brown stone walls and the walls on 52 just hurt my eyes
