The Auction ?

I cant firgure out how to add items to the Auction, from the "mailboxes".
Can anyone explain how an auction works?

You'll have to go to your capitol city and find the auction house. They may be in other areas as well but i haven't seen them.

I'm pretty sure the email thing is just a reminder of your current auctions.
