Yesterday I was using my fisherman and left my ship just off the docks near Skara Brae ready ro deliver an order today.

Today I logged in to deliver the order and my ship is at sea just above Empath Abbey in Yew. So, unless I sleepwalked during the night and moved my ship it has been magically transported overnight to its new location.

Just me?.

What permissions do you have set on your ship?

It's my opinion that the permissions are borked .... and granting any permissions at all sometimes allows strangers to get on-board your ship and move it.

Just a thought.

Hmmm must admit I hadn't considered that someone could have moved it. It should not have been possible actually because last week I had to give one of my chars from another account Captain status to even get him on board.

You could be right tho and the permissions are borked.

Whatever, it moved and it wasn't me Guv!.

Its happening to a lot of people on Catskills, any ship left unattended for even just an hour or so near docks seems to be set adrift. Its like there is an anti loitering rule around the docks and city coasts.

its about a 20 min timer and yes the boat will get auto moved away from docks especialy the ones with mongers not sure about the ones with no mongers

Thanks for the replies, as usual posting on here often offers explanations.

I know there is a zone around the Floating Emporium where your ship gets moved after a short while. I wasnt aware there was one around other docks altho that would make sense.

Tis still strange tho cos I have been parking in these locations before logging off for months now and its never happened to me before. Its often the same ships that are left in the actual docks when i do reach them, some seem to be permanently moored there.

Ah the eternal mysteries of UO!.

Huh? You got a perfectly good explanation... docks have timers set to keep folks from jamming them all up and making it impossible for folks to complete fishing quests...

Also, the dock in Maginica/Atlantic has a timer as well... your boat gets teleported out to sea if you leave it there too long.

Yes its a perfectly reasonable explanation but if you read my post you will see that I dont park AT the docks, I moor a little way away so my ship doesnt block other peoples. Probably a little further than the exclusion zone round the Emporium.

So if there is a timer and I am parking too close how come it has NEVER happened before?. It also does not explain the fact that some ships appear to be permanently at some docks and they dont get moved?.

I still think its odd and the best explanation is that someone moved it somehow.
