Template Question

After playing in boring Tram for upwards of 9 years I am bored with it and want to be a nuisance in fell by joining the most noble profession. I am playing on a Prodo shard and had a template question.

How does this look template wise, plan to at least "attempt" to steal scrolls but want to be a general nuisance in Fel. So far I was thinking:

720 Skill Cap
90 Stealing (+30 From Bandana and Shadow Dancer's)
80 Stealth (+30)
90 Snooping (+10)
100 Hiding
120 Ninja
90 Wrestling
110 Resisting Spells
40 Chiv

Totally defensive steal and run, but how important is resist. Do I really need it if I just carry a box or poison potions since the whole point is to run away fast. If not, where should the points go?

Should I try to look for more +skill jewels to squeeze an extra 30 points onto this template? Or should I focus on real skill and be able to steal while naked instead of gimping my template with artifacts.

Looking for feedback and offering many thanks in return.

I am pretty new to thieving myself... it would be interesting to find out what you experts think of the original poster's template! I myself am searching for an answer as to "how much stealth is really necessary (either base or with items)"

If it were in the middle of a champ spawn - would the original poster's template make the steal?

by the way - my template was going to be pretty similar to the original poster's
except with GM resist and higher wrestling

For a non-siege thief this is pretty good template.

For a Prodo Shard Id say Dump Chiv for 120 wrestle and resist.

You cant cast chiv in animal form or on the run so its useless once the steal is made...get a high dci 50%ep jewel set and chug pots(oh and pray!!!)

110 reisist just wont be high enough and ull have more fun with 120 wrestle

You will Want to make yourself a nice suit though...on prodo you wont lst long naked archers will tear you a new ring hole!!! and mages will 2shot!!!

So "gimp" yourself out with arties all 70's max hpr str ure suit and start from there Imo

How are you suggesting one gets around? recall scroll?

so a template like the following wouldn't work to well on production? I guess I was trying to stray a little away from "uber" equipment until I could really afford it...

Skill (Real skill) / After Equipment
Hiding - (100.0) / 100.0
Snooping - ( 90.0) / 100.0 (burglar's bandana)
M. Resist - (100.0) / 100.0
Stealth - ( 85.0) / 115.0 (B's Bandana and Dancers legs -cursed for now :( )
Stealing - (80.0) / 110/120 (same as stealth, cept ferret form when need - or find some jewels)
Ninjitsu - (115.0) / 115.0 (I was thinking lower, just for llama and s. jump)
Wrestling - (105.0 ) / 115.0 (Gloves of Pugilist and no 120 scroll yet)
Chivalry - (45.0) / 45.0 (ok chance to Sacred Journey)

Now for questions of personal preference - for those stealing powerscrolls and other light loot like kryss's, and with probably all med armor (I think shadow dancer leggings are light/med) does stealing/stealth need to hit over gm to be relatively succesful? I have just been training skills the last couple of days... so I haven't had a chance to start causing havoc... about to go freaking crazy on this ninjitsu (I am at 67 skill - any suggestions?)

Also, if you were going to train your timing/skill as a theif, where would you start practicing prior to going out to the champ spawns?

Sorry for being so "noobish" at this! I just want to be the guy that makes people do this:yell: and me do this:hahaha: while I am pulling in a little extra profit from the powerscrolls/uninsured gear I don't need...

Sometimes you'll fine nice marks at a moongate, and an NPC guard or healer will be nearby. If you get noticed, you'll be whacked by the NPC before the success/fail steal check even comes into play. Because of this, I'd say get at least GM stealing. 120 cant hurt when it comes to swiping heavy weapons and such, but half the fun is them actually noticing the theft anyway.

Dump the chiv. Use recall scrolls. 45 points merely for sacred journey is a terrible waste of points. Take those 45 and get your resist to 120. On prodo you'll find one of the deadliest things to thieves is a mage, or two, spamming para with max cap casting speed.

Ninjitsu at 115 is useful for consistently getting into wolf form, and makes your mirror images slightly more effective. However, if you intend to use llama or ostard form instead, I suggest knocking some points off this and investing them elsewhere.

Get your stealing and stealth up and dump the skill items if you can in favor of more useful pieces. You'll definitely want at least 45dci, if not some overflow to protect against Lower Defense Chance archers.

85 stealth will treat you fine. However, at champ spawns you'll find that you MUST wait until the gold starts dropping and perform a shadow jump. 120 stealth is nice, because level 1-4 poison won't reveal you, and EQ's will have a hard time of it. Also, it will be much harder for no-skill human trackers to pick you up. I use 85 at the moment and get my share of stat/power scrolls.

As far as the practice issue...I suggest Yew gate at prime hours. Steal everything and anything you can, whether its new faction or thief consumables, silver, bandies, big stacks of apples, or the occasional weapon/armor.

What shard do you play on?

I play on great Lakes :) Thanks for the advice by the way!! So what would you suggest then that I get ninjitsu to? I really don't need it for anything other than the fast forms and shadow jump...

what shard do you play :)?

I sent you a PM. Check it out. ;)

As for Ninjitsu...105 isn't bad. Even GM is usable.

If i were you I'd play on siege, use the points from chiv to replace what you lose without the leggings (get a bandana still) swap resist for something else (i'd say magery but i'm sure others will say other things).
