Template advice needed

Hi everyone

I have a mage with this setup:

Magery 103 (going to 110 or 115)
Medi 100
Eval 100
Inscription 100
Fishing 100
Necro 95 (going to 100)
SS 94 (going to 110)

Fising and inscripton stays, but I'm not so sure about the necro part. It just seems too many points for a limited range of spells and abilities.
I'm thinking about taking up a weapon skill and tactics, or perhaps just tactics and use a mage weapon and jewelry to counter the penalty).
All suggestions will be appreciated.

What do you want to do with this character? pvp or pvm, or both?

With Scribe and Fishing, I would soulstone your Necro skills off.
Then pick up Wrestling and Resist spells.

Unless you pick up a real weapon skill, tactics won't help any. you can't do special moves without a real weapon skill.

What do you plan to do with him?

Ah yes, I should have mentioned that... primarily PvM.

You see, I've been away from the game for some years and returned and started to create a fisherman. Then when I began pulling up serpents I realized that their pathetic little spells interrupted my own casting constantly - it's simply a pain to kill them with magery alone (well, for me at least, there could be a trick I haven't thought of). So I decided - hey why not pick up a weapon skill and some tactics?

Try casting protection. Your physical resist and resist magic will suffer, you'll cast slowly (FC = 0 with protection on) but at least you won't get interrupted.

My fisher is an archer> I use a snake slayer bow with a deep sea serp killer tali 86%. then I have

100 fishing
100 archery
100 tactics
100 necro
120 tailor
120 smithy
60 chiv
20 focus

This guy grabs bods and finds my white pearls/horned leather/rawfish(turn-ins). I run in vamp form So i dont need to heal.

But back OT. I would say the main thing to look at is the inscription. If you are making lots of scrolls for a vendor or recall scrolls for yourself, The necro part is important. I scrib in lich form. What I did was get items to get me to 71 necro droped the SS Add MR on all peices(save for necro items) and blast out the scrolls faster then any living creature(ha necro forms) This leaves me with 50 real necro and 0 SS. I suggest tinkering at least 60 for tools and maybe some bod running capability's maybe 120 smithy?

You can get your physical resist back if you cast reactive armor along with protection.

Ok, after some serious thought I've decided to try out a spellweaving template and use one soulstone. The template will be:
Magery 110 (probably going for 115 jewelled)
Eval 100
Medi 100 (jewelled 110 - I'm sick of failing active medi at only 100!)
Spellweaving 110
Tactics 100
Resist 100
Fishing / inscription 100

Ok - so here's the deal. I've got fishing on soulstone unless I go fishing !
With inscription I've got the 10% SDI (if SDI actually works - the 30% SDI spellbook I've got doesn't appear to do much difference really)!?
Tactics for doing some damage when equipping a mage-weapon. With that I can at least kill seaserps and other low level critters. The way I see it, it's a mana saver - instead of casting spells on low level critters I can whack them and save mana for the big guys. I know I won't be able to do special moves without weapon skill. (Maybe I'll swap resist for weapon skill).
Finally resist because I'm tired of getting para'd and cursed, and possibly I could do ok in a PvP situation - if nothing less run away and live to run another day! :p
