Tamer/Archer needs some more info

Hial,

I'm a returning vet and checking all my old char now to get them ready in this 4years later UO.

I have an Tamer/Archer
110 Taming
110 Lore
100 Vet
110 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
80 Chiv
Question is how many int, dex and str do I need for this template?

I understand that with the new imbueing skill, the best way to get some good gear is to let a gm blacksmith craft you a set and imbue those with the stats you want.

So thats the question I have;
What type of armor do I need to start with, leather, plate, ringmail, verite, woodland, iron or..... How much resist is needed on that crafted set before starting the imbue process? Also which stats is a need to have for this char.

Better to transform this human to an elve?

Lots of noob questions, but after 4 years not playing UO, it's hard to find out on what items and stats to focus on.

Ok lets see. Drop the vet to 90 add 5 to tame and lore. This will be better for owning a greater dragon now. Next you will want high dex and strength. The mana stuff can be added to your suit. Your not a mage so might pick some arties to build off of. Hunters headress would do you good you could have the 120 archery that way. Hope this helps ya some. Best to consult a suit builder in the game.

Many tnx mate, but why push taming to 115, with the hunter's headdress I get +20 taming. So it's better to get 100 taming + the headdress right? So I can spend those skill points in other skills.

Anyone on this forum can give me an advise about the other gear items? platemail, ringmail, woodland, etc

I'm pretty sure the hunter's headdress is +20 archery. There is a mask of travesty with +taming on it...but that's probably not affordable.

It's not necessary, but I'd recommend you keep your taming and animal lore skills real and not jewel/item them up. The reason is that if you die, hit unequip macro, etc. and issue commands to your greater dragon (or other high end pet) without having the necessary skills to command them they will lose happiness. Do it enough and they'll go wild (and eat you).

aye your so right mate, I messed up archery and taming on hunter's headdress. Now I understand :)

Just to update, working on that template. Bought the Hunter's Headdress:)

But are there any other arties that would be good for a tamer/archer. Is the jackal's collar any good?
Also which gearstats, like hit regen, stamina, dmg incr, etc are needed?

jackal's collar(DEX)
stormgrips(DI/INT)
hunters(you own)
insane tinker leggings(ssi)
rangers cloak(SSI)
Crimson cincture(HP/DEX)
turquoise ring(tinker crafted SSI)
conj trinket(HCI/DI/slayer[watch for reponds doing extra damage])

STM increase is your best friend on your suit. If your an elf try to make heartwood enhanced pieces with either HCI or DI post imbueing. If ya have mana leech on your weapons MR isnt necessary but nice to have.

Knowing the caps is important! Im sure there is a nice sticky in the warrior forum for the caps your looking for. I know HCI/DCI are capped at 45(50 for gargoyles) DI from items is 100+slayer, EoO, killer tali hard cap is 300 and SSI hard caps at 60. Max str/int/dex is 150 STM/MANA increase is not capped and HPI is capped at 25.

Take a look at the weapons link here on stratics and plug in your numbers and choose a weapon type based on its DPS. That help to choose where ya want to keep your total STM(where it says dex, stm is interchangeable when calculating dps)
