Howdy folks,

So I started an Axer for the fun of it. He's holding the Talon axe. Has 50 in swords, 100 in anat, 100 LJ, 40 in tactics, and I took him out today for a short bit, and noticed he was gaining in parry. I was under the impression that you had to have a shield equipped to gain in Parry. Did something change while I was gone? Well, I mean did something about Parry change, everything else seemed to have changed some, lol. I know I could just lock it, but found it interesting that parry was gaining, with no shield, no bushido, no nothing. Is Parry now useful while using a 2 handed wep?

Yea parry works with 2 handed weapons..

As a character gains in Parry as well as Bushido, the system changes somewhat: Your chance to block with a shield falls, and instead you gain the ability to parry with a sword. An additional bonus is granted if the weapon is double handed.
So with bushido 2 handed parrys better and if you have bushido u can parry with no shield..without bushido I assume u need a shield..hope that kinda helps

Well, thanks for the answer cazador, but maybe my question wasn't straight forward enough.

1. I thought you had to have a shield equipped to gain in Parry, yes, no maybe so?
2. Can I, or can I not use parry while using a 2 handed weapon? I thought no, but if I'm gaining......
3. Haven't decide what the final template will be yet, 200+ pts in bushido and parry, works well on my sampire, wanna try something different for the Axer, anyone wanna weight in with suggestions using an Axer?

Thanks Cazador, that answers the question very well, appreciate your help and the link. Not sure where I got the idea that you were required to parry with a shield unless you had bushido.

Thanks.

Is it an either or when you've got a weapon and shield up, or an addition? So if I have 100 parry 0 bushido, with a weapon and shield, that means I have a 30% chance to block w/shield and a 17% chance to block w/1 handed.

So does that mean I have a 50% chance to parry any given attack, or only a 30 % chance, and if I remove the shield, I'm down to a 17% chance?

Without shield you chance to block is 2x lesser except 5% for having 100+ parry. Exact number is Parry/4 with a shield and Parry/8 without shield.

With 100 parry you block:
shield: 100/4 + 5 = 30
weapon: 100/8 + 5 = 17.5
