Suggestion on Books

Actually I'd have two suggestion.

1) Please adjust the books in enhanced client to match the books in classic client, in means of graphic, font, writable sapce per page and linebreak behaviour.

2) Make writeable scrolls. They should be basically be like books but show up as a real scroll with more space to write on than one book page.
The scroll should look like a blankscroll, maybe a special colored ribbon around it and read a title as books have. Just thought having something like this would have style

These are both excellent ideas. The open book in the old client looks so much better than the one in the new client.


Looking through InsideUO, I see we already have the open scroll graphic available so this would be a really quick and easy addition.


Please put these ideas on your list of things to do dev team.

Writing in books using the EC is an exercise in futility. They can't be read in the CC (pretty muct at all), and their behavior in the EC is spotty at best.


Writeable scrolls, a la the ones from the Journey to the Athenaeum Isle quest, would be awesome. They would give a better feel than books when sending messages to someone in the severely underused mailboxes.

Excellent suggestion and I agree 100%.


The EC needs fixed or the CC needs fixed I don't care which happens but I'm tired of having to switch to the CC to turn in Books for EM Quests.

And bookshelves much, MUCH bigger so we can have nicely arranged libraries in the classic client!

However you can get the classic Book artwork in the EC if you use the Pinco UI, along with classic style gumps for everything but the grid pattern sorting inside! It still has the problem with the text alignment because that's hard coded alas though

That's always made me wonder about some of the decisions in regards to going from the KR to the EC UI, specifically in the UI elements that they put back into the "generic gump" system. They threw the Animal Lore gump back to the CC version when everyone who used the mod LOVED the all-in-one version, but retained the way written books were handled.

It was also quite a fight to get them to change the runebook setup back to the KR version instead of using the CC version. The KR/EC version is MUCH more user friendly and we have it skinned for a classic look with the updated useability.

Agreed on both points.

I'd also like to add in two things I'd like to see:

1. Make books not take up lockdowns, or increase lockdowns. Most library owners are running low on lockdown space.

2. Create a box/bag/shelf graphic with more space, so more books can be lined up in them
