Suggested New Loot for High Seas

I would like to see more loot as far as SOS/ASOS come up.. I know we got new stuff with the High Seas booster however (Fishing nets, oars, kelp pants, wedding dress, etc), it spawns so often that it is not rare or even interesting any longer (and should be in the spring cleaning IMHO along with quest books and bait)

I am also disappointed in the quest rewards.. If I see another quest book, I just might be tempted to shove it up the mongers nose..

Also.. What is it with all the shoes and boot etc... was there a tea party where they threw in shoes instead of Tea? I think the wiser and smarter we get with fishing, the less of these we should see, if at all..

Why not have an old fashioned Deep Sea Divers Suit as a reward set.. rare.. like the one of those big bubble helmets with the glass front.. Diving fins, oxygen/air tubing backpack, gloves etc.. could give one part with Monger quests, another with fishing up SOS/ASOS, and another from pirate ships, etc.. lots of numerous ways to get them..

Also, what about deco wise, getting a Rare Starfish or Sea Creature statue, like the Seahorses. Tackle box, Fishing line, Fly's (lure's) hooks, snorkle gear, mask, etc as deco items. Or Rare Beach palm frawn umbrellas..Why not have Surf Boards (also rare like bikini) I could think of 100's of things as loot..

I know others on here have great ideas too!

It doesn't just have to be stuff with a marine theme. Look at everything that has been recovered from shipwrecks in the past. Fishing is a great way of introducing new items & new crafting into the game via crafting and new raw materials Marble would be great. New clothes, statues, furniture, tapestries, paintings, amphorae, watered silk, rare spices, new seeds and other deco would be great.

Frankly I just want to fish. No pirates, no repetitive orders to fill just to get some scrolls to take me to 120. Don't want special bait, the new monsters don't interest me, and although I was an avid fisherman, I did not buy the High Seas Booster because there was too much grinding, too much of the same thing over & over I didn't want the big boats, and I like fishing alone. When I said that fishers needed love, I meant new loot. As a crafter, I also think it is very silly to fish up obviously made items that my crafters are apparently too stupid to reproduce.

How about usable loot that goes with fishing theme?

Shipwrecks include stashes of gold and valuables.

How about random gold piles (5-60k), gems (the big mining ones like ecru cites) 5-10, or any other thing available from a legacy token.

Make that change to loot and people will be all over fishing....

I'd like to see new paintings added to the game. What the DEV's have no idea how to make a portrait??? Getting tired of the same ole pics. Would love to fish up seaweed strands... Special colored vines and such... could be new festive garlands... Strings of pearls...

How about some other things like turtle shells for making new armor... new craftables for tailors... instead of woodland armor turtle shell armor. How about a snail... or snail shell that maybe you could use for something like crafting. Perhaps for new jewelery. I'd like to see cannons as something to pull up from the sea...

I hope that I understand correctly that you do know everything collected from the shipwreck and the items in the chests is worth 100-500 turn in points. that means the head or arm(100pts) you fished up upto and in cluding the grapesvines at 500 pt each.

What is the point of getting new loot when it will inevitably become old loot after a while ??

When High Seas came out several items were brand new. Now, they are no longer.

Anything which will be created anew will become old just as well, after a short while.

So, I wonder, what is the point ??

personally i'd just be happy if it didnt take forever and a year per shot to make cannon ammo and take 100k gold to sink a ship, the resources the ships drop would actually be pretty nice if not for the effort required to make the ammo and sink the ships outweighing it by far.

I agree with all of the above:

  • The whole footwear joke has run it's course
  • The elusive Yellow Polka Dot bikini (while rare) serves no purpose to a fisher except to sell
  • MiB loot needs an overhaul in general
  • Loot should be hard to find but rewarding to the fisher
  • Fisher quests/rewards are extremely broken and a waste of time
  • The 120 fishing scroll is too difficult to obtain and not worth the effort
I mentioned these things not too long ago.... Hopefully something great is coming for us fishers. I always liked being on the seas but Fishing has always been a solo activity. It is not very fun trying to be a pirate by yourself because of how difficult and resource heavy it is to take down those NPCs.

Personally, I like that it takes exceptional time and effort to make ammunitions.

Why ?

Because it is a crafting activity.

And why, someone might ask, a crafting activity would need to be time consuming and require an exceptional effort ?

Well, to my view, so that crafters play crafters and fighters play fighters.........

I have had enough of self sufficiency in the game. That is, players having crafters' characters merely to support their fighters' needs. If a crafting activity is time consuming and requires exceptional efforts, as I see it, there are more chances that those players not actually role playing crafters but only using crafters to be self sufficient for their fighters' needs, might not want to bother with that given crafting activity and actually rely on other players, who role play crafters, as a source for those crafted wares.

So, I personally see with favour crafting activity that might be time consuming and requiring an exceptional effort as it might help those players actually role playing crafters to have some business...

As I see it, self sufficiency in the game gets rid of having to rely on other players. It is not good for the building of an in game community, IMHO.

that's well and good but have you ever gone through the process of making them? It's like a 8 step excruciatingly slow process for making ammo, and the most expensive step having only a 70% chance at GM alch, and that's not even exagerating ( http://www.uoguide.com/Cannon)....and when youre done the ammo you've made from a few hours is good for sinking 1-2 ships at best, so to sell it at a rate anyone sane will pay you essentially have to charge at "materials only". Few crafters make ammo for any but their own friends just for this purpose....difficult to craft and profitable would be good for crafters....but the ammo is beyond ridiculous. I don't really see how it's "good" for a crafter spending a hour making ammo + cost of materials (which are pretty expensive themselves) and then having something only really worth 50-100k tops. The rare times I do see ammo on vendors it's too expensive to be worth it knowing at best I'll make back the cost of my ammo with each ship I sink and occasionally I'll get the lucky drop of a white dye tub and actually make a profit off of sinking ships! (though personally I more often go for player ships as they're more likly to carry heavy ammo + higher value items like mibs)

Luckily though I scored the motherload early and caught a crafter stealth afk crafting a few hundred ammo for their guild and putting it on there beetle....a few seconds and one dead blue beetle later and I had enough ammo to sink at least a whopping 10 ships!

Now...if they put about 10x the loot on ships as there is now the huge time investment/cost of ammo could actually pay off, because as it is now who is going to spend all that gold when 90% of the loot on the ships is useless food and wine, the merchant ships are a little nicer in that if youre lucky you can get 150 or so valorite and occasionally 2-300 barbed leather...but really there's not much of value on them.

Finally, a topic I can speak on..

I spend more time on my orc ship than I do anything else -well, except when I am trying to get banner and Nexus deeds. I have two crafters devoted to making ammo. One is a tailor/smith and the other is a miner/alchemist/cook.

It is true that ammo is a lot of steps. I have cursed that chore many times. Currently I am the only serious ammo seller on Great lakes. I sell complete scuttle bags of 20 rounds of ammo with a complete set of accessories to operate a cannon. Each bag sells for 350k. Sales aren't exactly brisk, but it does provide a steady revenue stream. I base my sell price on the commodity price of saltpeter and my time spent mining and crafting. Mostly the commodity price drives the overall price because the NPC price never resets. NEVER. It only goes up! There are only two NPC's that sell saltpeter btw.

The real pain of it is mining the saltpeter. It takes 12000 saltpeter to make four hundred rounds of heavy ammo and four hundred fuses.
Mining saltpeter in those quantities is a real time sink. A real waste of time.

I do like that it gives my crafters some purpose and the complexity and startup expense is almost an insurance that not many folks will even get started making it (a +30 alchemy talisman helps prevent any loss of valuable saltpeter when making the powder charges). I also kind of hate that it takes so much time away from what I would rather be doing.

As for the loot on ships, Raptor is spot on. Orc and pirate ships aren't even worth the ammo it takes to sink them. Merchant ships are better, but only because of the turn in point value of the ingots, barbed leather, and wine. But only barely. I have probably sold over 250 white cloth dye tubs since last summer (not even close to an exaggeration) The price on great lakes is about 500k and has been for months, one of the lowest prices across all shards. They don't sell any more because everyone has three. So even when I get one of those now it really isn't a big deal. I have about 20 in back-stock as it is.

I use no 3rd party programs at all. I fish up my SoS's with just my pole and my trusty sextant...it might take a bit of sailing to do, but it can be fun in itself (just a little though given the crap loot I seem to pull up).

Don't need a mapper.... use the EC with Pinco's UI and it will plot them on your ingame map for you. BOOM done.
