yea i agree, but do you realize how many people just play test, its more populated then any standard shard.
Expansions work really well too.

hey I am all for them doing that, just give us a rune library in Brit like I ask for ages ago! I hate having to remark all the runes I use on TC
I think that purging Test Center on a regular basis and perhaps merging servers that are close together. Offer free transfers to the people on low population servers to go to high population servers. The only downside would be finding house placement.
For people to test things. Make them have a 30 min limit on time spent on the test. That would bring the PVP back to the real shards and allow the "testers" to test and be done with it.

If EA/Mythic decides to consolidate shards, one of the first things they would have to do is eliminate multi-house ownership. 1 house per account. This would allow the people being moved into a new shard to find housing more easily.
But can you imagine how many players they would lose in the process?
Answer honestly:
If you received notification that you were going to have to change shards in 30 days, and the only things you could take with you were the items you could store in your bank or on your characters...would you stick around?
I am not so sure I would.
I have spent years working acquiring what I have in UO, even if it isn't about the items...I would not be happy losing my house and all of my stuff.
Then again, I lost everything in a hacking, and I managed to come back...so who knows.
But can you imagine how many players they would lose in the process?

The idea of purging is great.. maybe make it from server up..to server down time or from log in time..until you log out..poof its gone...gives those of us who like testing house design ect a chance . Hard to get all those bloody tiles placed right for those nice spiral staircases in just 30 min time. 
My hubby and I have 6 accounts at the moment, with a total of 6 homes (one a luna house and one the Grog Guildhall, we're the caretakers now). We have a total of 19 characters between us, as we only use three of our accounts to have spellweavers to focus with and to hold homes.

If EA HAD to move me to another server, if they offered to move every single character I had, I would be able to pack up 5 pack animals per character and take most of my things with me... but I'd lose my homes.
They would have to create more housing space, I think, to compensate if they did a merge.

Yep. Close down 4-6 shards. Allow people to take EVERYTHING they own with them, and transfer their accts for free.
But it's a must that they open up a new land for plenty of housing, maybe even some really cool places to build....like areas with waterfalls, rivers, ponds, rock gardens....neat little isolated areas to entice people to want to keep playing if their shard is shut down.

If shards were to be merged, does anyone have suggestions about what EA should do for people who have made characters on more than one shard on the same account? Just delete all the excess characters and their possessions, all the hard work, all the power and stat scrolls used, all the special quests completed, all the points accrued in community collections, all the recipes learned, all the expensive hair dyes used....??

Why close it if people enjoy and pay for it?
Out of what i've read, *excludeding the server merge stuff, i like the idea but i dont see how it would be pulled off* i like the server up reset of test center, where chars and everything are purged from test. This would require you to remake all armor and weaps, etc etc to pvp on test regularly and bring these people back to a production shard. Now if only someone important would read this
