on Great Lakes there seems to be a sudden influx of high end items many non replica gladiator collars AND lt sashes are becoming common place, among other certain items, is EA going to do anything about these items, i'm thinking monks collars, that does damage to the wearer and non removable for at least a month to pay "penance" for using a duped item, same with the sash and other items maybe even negative in stats stacking making that char unplayable until the time elapsed for using questionable items

That's a real bummer. How many of those Original Items even existed, a handful? I would love to see something done about those. Doesn't each item have a Unique identifier? Any who, we will see if anything actually happens. Here's hoping though.

 you should know better alvinho ...

Need to establish that a new dupe exists
THEN proceed with a "dupe fix"
THEN mitigating response to dupes remaining

Remember the sandles that gave resists a few years ago...was only a few given given out ever, next thing they are on all shards and in great numbers.

They sold for 750 million or 250 million I forget but one day they all went poof!

I can only pray that EA sees it's way to deleting all the duped crap one day, UO will be all the better for it.

You should understand....and I believe there is a post that details this more in the UO Rares Collector Forum, but back when duping was prevalant....there was a high volume of items produced at one time. (You should of seen the screen shots from the HAX guild that had hundreds of duped artifacts) The interesting factor is that not all of the items will be leaked into the market at the same time. What you could be seeing now is a new influx of items coming out from a potential dupe years ago.

This holds true to particular UO Stores that sell certain duped rare items for cash. They never seem to "run out of stock"

It's a shame....but this is one of the many reasons that I stopped collecting items that have been knowned to be duped. (with an exception of a few)

The infamous "Vine Cord Sandals: --- They were a beauty.

Not as good as the 100% Lower Reagant Cost Robe, in my opinion.

You know, this is rather tricky.

At this point there are SO many rares or 'one of so and so many' items out that keeping track of them for the casual or 'regular' player it is daunting. I have rares, I have sold rares, but I am FAR from a rares expert.

Many have possession of 'duped' items while having NO clue that they are, indeed, duped. The UO team pretty much intends players to go to the internet and HOPE they can find reference to an item. Not all players use stratics, and not all players have scoured over the rares list on the rares forum.

I myself came into possession of an item that I was sold and told it was one of a limited number, not a singular item. So, seeing it as a great find, I purchased it. Should I have to reference and google every single item in game? I was only later told by a friend of the history of said item.

It is a lot to ask players that they should just automatically know what is a dupe from not a dupe, or have to search over the internet to see if something is permissible to have in game. IMO the dev team, if they are aware of the issue, should take steps AS SOON AS THEY ARE AWARE THERE IS AN ISSUE. Otherwise, the regular players are then getting suckered into something that is deemed less than possibly legal by the game.

Again, we shouldn't have to scour all over the place looking for answers the team itself should be making us aware of in the first place. Their lack of being proactive then sets a precedent and players (like in this instance, myself) will be obtaining these things and paying good amounts of legally obtained gold to purchase, only to be possibly penalized in the future.

Feel free to disagree, I'm sure many will say 'you bought it, your problem'. But its more than that. Again, I shouldn't have to worry about EVERY in game rares transaction I do or read up on its history. The UO team should be taking the proper steps as soon as a problem is noticed.

Well... duh.

I'm just pointing out that it would be nice if the UO team would be more helpful at pointing out possible dupes and correcting them ASAP.

The longer they linger in game, the more people will be tricked by these things. And that simply isn't fair. I can tell you honestly that not every player is aware of every in game possible dupe.

I have to admit that it's possible someone is rich enough to afford to buy a duped item and yet not know to be extremely suspicious.

Possible, but I do not find it likely.

I have never known someone to dupe a rare item and then sell it to such an extent that the market is flooded and the price goes down so far as to make it accessible to average players.

In other words there is every reason to believe that someone who is rich enough to afford such an item would know to be suspicious.

To pick an extreme and hypothetical example: You would, for example, know to be suspicious of a non-Replica Lieutenant Sash being sold at or near the same price as the Replica. Most players who could afford the 40 million or so that item goes for would.

And if you are ever not sure, you have several people with a similar level of experience and knowledge you can ask.

Well, I did, though it was after the fact and it was more of 'HEY! YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST GOT!!'. It was then I was told by a friend with a big LOL it wasn't a several of a kind thing, but a one of a kind thing I bought.

And seriously, if it didn't happen like this I'd just keep my mouth shut and say nothing. Very few know who I am on here in game, so my personal story has no reason for me to just whip up something on this thread just to have something to add. I'm saying that, yes, this can happen to a player who isn't aware. And the rare I purchased was much more than 40 million gold.

I'm not okay with duping. That's my point. My other point is that I would hope that the UO team, when they become aware of a possible issue they address it quickly so that players are then not kinda left with something that isn't quite legal and are out a LOT of money.

A sudden increase in these items being for sale could mean a duper's house fell down and someone was lucky enough to grab them. These items were duped a great many times and there are hundreds, if not thousands, out there. Originally there were only 5-6 of the sashes.

What was the name of this robe and does it still exist? I am intrigued by this item. I wish we had compilation of event items with the properties they had.

You are not alone in noticing the influx of those items.

I too have my suspicions about dupers. Many rumors are going around of late.
