Um... Paralyze? I don't think succubus's cast any unique para spell, just drain health and double male damage...

They're casting something that freezes my char completely, can't drink potion, enchanted apples don't help.

Whatever it is it really "sparkles", if that's any help...

Sorry, but was gone from game for a few years... The last I remember they changed "trapped boxes" so that they delt the user damage. Has that changed again and if so, how are they made now?

The sparkles are it's drain life, and you can't drink potions while you're para'd anyway, if memory serves? If so a potion wouldn't change anything, to break para you take damage -_- Sounds like you have no resists and it's the same old para spell.

I knew it had some kind of "Life Drain", but assumed that it would just do standard HP damage - didn't consider any para along with it. My char is wearing a full 70's but has no magic resist skill... Hmmm

Life Drain doesn't paralyze. Paralyze does though, and you're just getting plain paralyzed. Sparkles are the standard visual effect that accompanies the paralyze spell. Nothing special going on.

I think I mentioned that I was gone for a few years, so I'm not too embarrassed to ask:
What buff/debuff icon?
It's easy to miss. If you're in 2d make a new macro and it's near the bottom of the list.

Uh, I found it... Icon with a little guy in a running pose. Dbl/click seems to do nothing... What does it do and how do I use it?
(I would look on the UO site, but I've pretty much found it useless)..

If you're using the old "2d" aka "legacy client," click on your own character's "status bar" that shows strength, intelligence, and dex so that it is maximized and displays your character's name. Then click on the small blue circle in the upper left corner. That should pop onto your screen somewhere a fancy metal and blue gem L-shaped gizmo (such a lovely technical term) that anchors the display of your current buff/de-buff icons. If you can get that little L-shaped anchor up and then cast a spell on yourself or have a monster cast a spell on you, you should start to see the appropriate buff or de-buff icons. Turning off the display of these icons is as simple as maximizing your character status bar and once again clicking the small blue circle in the upper left corner.

When you mouse over the buff/de-buff icons, you should see the name of the effect, what it's doing to your character, and how much longer the effect will last. Unfortunately, some buff/de-buff effects and/or the display of their information can sometimes be a bit whacky in that they don't wear off as they should and as a result you'll occasionally see some strange info when you mouse over the icons.

And don't feel bad for asking. I didn't know about those icons for the first three years that I played. :hahaha:

Thanks so much, Tina. I now know how to display these, but when I mouse/over them it shows nothing at all. I've played with the options (default desktop, etc.) but can't get them to display anything on mouse/over... :blushing:

Hmmm....I'm not sure if this will work or not, but on your paperdoll click Options and then select the Pop-Up Help tab on the left side of the gump. Make sure there's a checkmark in the "Use Tool-tips" box. Then check that the box in front of the "Color of Tool-tip Text" is a color that contrasts nicely where you lined up the buff/de-buff window (I guess that is its "official name" eh?). And on the last line of that screen, make sure the slider is closer to the left side than to the right side so there's not too much of a delay in showing tool-tip text.

Yep, that was it Tina... I always have turned Off the "Tool Tip" option, since 10 yrs ago it was pretty useless... Now it has a pretty good use, so thank you much for helping me find it... :D
