Stratics slow loading?

I have been using the site for a couple of days now and I have noticed that the site is slow loading on all pages and sometimes I even get a loading error for something called "Cloudfire", which seems to be what stratics is using.

I tried checking the speed with an online speedtester against another UO Forum and it tests as being 5-7 times as fast loading.

Maybe this is something the administrators can look into, since its very annoying.

I have also tried moving around on uoforums with the same machine as I use stratics on and it is much faster loading for me.

Some speed optimizations are in order.

edited in later: Sometimes stratics speeds up for a short while, then slows down again.

Interesting results, I've been trying to trim some of the fat from UOF the last week, looks like it's paying off.

As for Stratics, I don't think it's a cloudflare problem, it's a server configuration one.

I have to say I also haven't noticed anything.

I guess its all about what speeds you're used to and sometimes its fast, sometimes its slow. I know both sites uses google, so its not that and uoforums seems to have a large page than stratics, yet still loads many times faster.

Stratics has ads, should that be paying for better set up servers?

UOF is hosted in Denmark, in a house of all places, heh.

I believe Stratics is still hosted with a Canadian company.

It takes anywhere from 3-8 seconds for a page to load.

CloudFlare - Website Currently Unavailable
Some reason this keeps happening? This a Cloudflare or a Stratics issue?
They control the page loading, perhaps This was why it was lagging.
Their claim to fame lists "Always Online".
Free service vs server crashed, guess we live with it.

It didn't really help anything though, as you couldn't access the threads themselves anyway, so the site might as well have been down.

This is the 3rd time I've experienced this since I signed up again here.

I'm in India at the moment and just checked loading time for both sites. The time it took to open your post here and over there was the same.

Of course there are times that one would be slower than the other due to various reasons that we all are aware of but that would be making mountains out of molehills.

Yes I have been having a hell of a time getting Stratics to load, especially on Google Chrome. I do run adblock so it's not the ads. Sometimes it hangs so long it times out.

It hangs on stratics, not any of those things you mention.

Cloudflare acts as a caching proxy. In most cases where sites are static it helps, but in the case of stratics forums trying to cache the forums just gets in the way and slows things down, as forums are constanlty changing. Caching somethings that is constantly changing is counterproductive. The vboards.stratics.com site where the forums are hosted should be excluded from Cloudflare services, only the static content should be cached.

Last time I asked, CloudFlare could not be limited to certain subdomains. Because Stratics portals and Stratics forums share a server, we do not currently have the option to implement this suggestion.

Then the higher-ups at Stratics need to give up on Cloudflare for now as it isn't helping.

CloudFlare may have slowed down forums, but it has helped immensely in other areas. For the time being, it isn't going away. Eventually, we hope to upgrade our forum software, which may handle caching more efficiently and improve our speed.
