Stratics Forums going through changes?

I've noticed changes to the general Stratics forums listings, icon and link changes. One Icon that was there and isn't at the moment was for post rating. Is this really a good idea? I thought this was suggested in UHall in the past and the general consensus thought it was a bad idea. Won't this get abused, especially if someone has a beef and alternate log-ins?

I'm also getting database errors now and then. What other changes are planned?

Excellent! Looks like Stratics forums is keeping up with forum community trends. The simpler URLs will make it easier to navigate forums, the trackbacks and social networking buttons will increase forum visibility.

can't see just a UO listing.... you know, the kind where on the right hand side of the screen you can see which post was last commented on...... I get the entire Stratics list, even when clicking your link Syrus

yup - I don't like it either. Also, in forum tools I still can't mark forums as read - which makes return visits difficult to determine what threads had activity since last visit.

Yes it has been reported but I have yet to see it fixed. I'm not the only one either.

Well, you can always subscribe to forums, then you'll get a list of them that shows what was posted last in your control panel.

Go to the forum you want, up at the top click the drop down Forum Tools button. Select subscribe.

Looks like either that page was unpublished, changed or deleted. I'm thinking it was probably a View to display the most recent thread in each forum, and they are working on the View.

Was on the Baja Forums and I hit the Shard Forums at the top of the page hoping to ge the UOStratics Shard Forums page and it took me to the Stratics Forum main page. This is so messed up.

The new management is a heck of a lot more responsive than the previous management.

The term why fix something that ain't broke comes to mind. Not liking having to visit the main page when all I want to do is look at the UO Stratic Forum Threads.

I'm not liking the new feel at all.

At the top of this page there is a "New Posts" link and it lists 500 posts. Went and displayed the first 200. Out of the 200, 193 were UO related (97%). So why do we need to go to Stratics main page all the time. Every body should be going to UOStratics main page when first coming here.

It takes you to that SECTION but it doesn't take you to the page showing the last active thread in each UO Forum. It's was handy for the less active forums to see which thread was last posted.

Since every forum does it, those buttons have no meaning. If there is an interesting topic then someone will input it manually on those sites. No one is going to up-vote them because thousands/millions are submitted every day.

for threads I respond to, sure. How about determining threads that have a) been added or b) have activity but I haven't responded to it? In the case of B I might want to follow the discussion without subscribing.

Mark Forum as Read function allows me to do a scan, mark the forum and in both instances above I will know if activity occurred the next time I visit the forum.

FF 3.6.8 and it was fine yesterday. Today it suxxorz. Also the link address of http://vboards.stratics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 would take me in a page to ONLY UO related items, show last response in the forums with activity indicator.

It now goes to the full Stratics forum list and jumps to a bookmark for the top of the UO list - no clue as to what forums had activity other than UHall and a couple others. not good at all.

Mark Forum as Read in Forum tools has been broken for some time now and myself and at least 1 other poster have been in discussion with Petra who has relayed to the tech support. Still broke ...

Almost like some of EA philosophy has rubbed off here.

FireFox 3.6.8 at work and home. IE6 at work. Both work browser are responding as noted by complaints in this thread. I will be home about 5 PM EDT and can test with FF 3.6.8 and IE8.

Everybody on here has the same problem as me. I have been using IE8 for a long time nad nothing has changed from last night (last one on computer) to now (first one on computer) You are the only one that is working right and the rest of us are broken.

Your link takes us to Stratics main page with UO Stratics Forum at the top of the page. What is does not do is take us the the UOStatics Forum page like it used to. That is our point. UO is Stratics. We are about 90% if not more of your customer base and we want to see UO, not all the other stuff, like your main page. We want our MAIN PAGE (UO only) back.

You are right. IT DID NOT DO THAT YESTERDAY. Did Stratics change this? Do we now have to go to Stratics main page to get to UO. We no longer get to see UOStratics and everything that has changed in UOStratics. Can not see UOStratics Shard Forum page that lists all the shards and see what is going on on all the shards. We now have to ga to each shard to do this. Same thing with General, Professions, EM, Trade, Guild. Why should we have to go back to Stratics main page that shows us very little information?

PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK!

Clicking General Forums doesn't show it either (hxxp://vboards.stratics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36)
There are no direct links w/ anything similar.

UHall doesn't use a link like that either.

So can you go to the page UOStratics Shard Forum and all it showed you were the different shards for UO (only)? We could yesterday and now we can't. Where is the notice that Stratics was changing how the forums worked?

Thanks Kelmo, I went there not knowing that, it looked pretty interesting, like a mini uhall. i'll certainly be more active in there than i have - tips & tricks even for vets

It wasn't 'broke'. An addition that had been made to the forum had an unexpected side affect, causing it to function differently.
No one, to the best of my knowledge, refused to admit it was broken. I refrained from commenting one way or the other till I could contact the right person to ask about it.

This is what I do, I load up my "User Control Panel (User CP)" with the forums I frequent and always start my browsing there. Of course it sounds like the issue has been resolved so we can all go back to our preferred ways of browsing UO Stratics.

This has been driving me NUTS the past several weeks. Apparently only a small portion of members use this function, but I use (or used to use) it every time I view the forums. Makes it so much easier to see what is new or has been updated with new posts.

Here's hoping it is resolved at some point. Glad to see Basara and I are not the only ones missing this feature!
