Storing BODs on vendors

Hello....

Iam beginning to get so many bods that I dont have much room left in my houses.
Scouting vendors I have seen several with bods on them that I cant buy.

Is there anything special I need to do to make sure my bods wont get bought other than hitting esc. when I put them on the vendor?

How much will the vendor charge for storing my bods?

Thanks in advance

Have you thought of turning them in?

Once you eliminate the junk, you don't really need that many bulk orders.

TBH I CBA to do them all :)
So for the moment Ill store them and then I might sell them all bulk to someone who actually likes to do bods :)

Don't do bods much do you? Anyone that spends any good amount of time working bods will have multiples of just about every "good" lbod with the same for the sbods, both of which are waiting for 1 or 2 bod(s) to complete them so they can be turned in. I currently have 10 bod storage vendors that are strictly for nothing more than storing the good bods, with most of those being close to max capacity on the vendor.

Which supports my theory that the BOD system, nice as it is, needs a serious rework.

If people are having to store many hundreds while they try fill in the gaps in their large BODs, that's crying out for an overhaul - if only as a clean up unnecessary data measure, as well as for simple 'playability'.

I think a part of the original design was to encourage player interaction - that players would have to trade BODs in order to fill the LBODs.
A design that, ultimately, underestimated the players' drive for solo play and self-sufficiency.

I to have a large amount of bods which ive had to store on vendors, yes i could sit there for days on end filling, but then u need to find time to go hunt the resorces which can take a few hrs to fill maybe 100 bods, then you can alwayz buy the resorces (vendors either sold out or way over priced)...

Maybe they should look into making the bod books as 1 lock down whether it holding 1 bod or 500 bods im sure that would save a lot of lockdowns for those that are in need of storage.

Hello!

The special things you need to take note of:

1) Do not put in a price for the BODs in the BOD book. If you have done so, take it out of the book and put it back in.

2) When you put a BOD book on the vendor, make sure you do it 1 at a time, press esc to make it "not for sale".

3) See point 2) and double check to make sure you see the price change to "not for sale" before putting up the next BOD book onto your vendor.

4) See point 2) again whenever you need to take a book and put it back in (such as when you want to dump more BODs into a book that's already on the vendor)

5) See point 2) one more time, coz I lost my Female Barbed leather book that way when moving to new vendors

6) The vendors will charge you only the default 60 gp per day

7) I am a bit of a neat freak, I plan out and place all the "real" vendors that will be selling stuff first, then place my BOD storage vendors last. This way they won't show up first in the list when customers click the house sign to list vendors

8) I rename them to "." so it doesn't clog up all names. Too bad spaces aren't allowed or I would have used that

9) I place them inside my house, in a sealed basement workshop that's accessible only via teleporters. Also designed shop so that the room is not visible. ie shop starts on the 2nd floor, no roofs outside that will allow customers to see the 1st floor (that's why I say it's my basement)

Edit: Oh, see point 2 again! :D

It depends on your definition of "much". :)

I do bulk orders daily, but not to the exclusion of everything else (ie: other types of gameplay and, more broadly, pursuits other than UO). When bulk orders first came out I had multiple characters collecting, but since you can turn them in instantly now I've ceased to use an army of me.

I limit how many orders I store because I'm realistic about how and when I will get to finish them, from my own standpoint. If I come across something I know is going to take me 6+ months to fill, I give it to the guy next to me at the forge.

I used to sit on a mountain of bulk orders but as the OP said he can't be bothered doing them all and as likely doesn't have a clear or ordered idea of what he actually has hoarded. It gets to a point where you have to be pragmatic. I sensed the OP's situation was getting out of control and that is from where my suggestion stems.

I'm not saying toss out or give away all the good ones, just be a bit more selective. A good proportion of the bulk orders I see stored on vendors are utter crap.

For most of us it's a collection. I always have large bods needing 1 more bod to complete for next verite-valorite hammer which always comes within 2-3 sessions. I have a huge collection build up of years doing it but i've seen much larger. Most bods have being recycled already to replace with another unfilled large. There is always multiple replacement bods to take over when one is filled and turned in. Not to mention all the tailor bods I also have. I always say to myself if I get another small im gonna walk naked through doom.

To make room in my house for last two events I had to do the BOD storage on vendors myself, even at 40% extra storage in the house I still had to move BODs out. With Christmas right around the corner I be busy with xshard trading also, so had to put the BODs some where till I can get a chance to work on them once more.

After the 1st of year I can get back to fill BODs and getting them turn in, currently building my stock up of leather and ingots, burn thru a lot of that during the summer this year.

And all this time I thought it was "illegal" to store things on vendors? Doesn't matter to me, but I never did because I was afraid I'd get into trouble.

I thought it was illegal also. Can we get a clarification on this? Because if it's alright, there are tons of lockdowns that could free up at my house using this system.

We have done this many, many times before. So, unless we have a new directive from a new team, this is perfectly acceptable.

It *was* illegal, but became legal I don't remember how many years ago. (was Dev announced though)

Personally, I think it was scripting that worked against encouraging player to player interaction to exchange BODs, not design.

When Bulk Order Deeds were released, and scripting was not so much rampant, players did interact and exchange BODs....

Several Web sites would aid listing and exchanging of BODs among players, back then.

Kill scripting for good in the game and many design features will, finally, go back to normal.

The sooner that scripting is eradicated from this game, FOR GOOD, the better, IMHO.

It was NEVER Illegal to store BODs in BOD Books on vendors.

To quote the FAQ that has explained this repeatedly...

The answer is YES, IT IS A LEGAL METHOD OF STORING BODS.

The OFFICIAL EA answer

Note that it goes back to September 2004, and the introduction of said books. The devs got tired of repeatedly answering the question over the last 5 years.

The not-so-official explanation....

The original intent of allowing BOD books to be full of unpriced BODs, on vendors, was to encourage people to display their collections' BODs available for trade. That it freed up so many lockdowns in crafters' houses, was a bonus.

And, while many people who do store BODs this way aren't intending to actually trade their BODs, they are still there to be seen, and if one can catch the homeowner present, maybe you can actually arrange a trade.

In other words, this form of storage encourages player interaction, even if it takes the form of, "Buzz off, noob, I don't trade my BODs" (and when that person posts on your shard forum looking for a specific BOD, you can remind them of their words....)

It takes a whole house of storage to do BOD's with two smithy/tailors and the house still maxes out when I don't clean it up for a few weeks.

I don't know how people do it if you don't have a dedicated house for BOD's. Vendors look like a pain in the butt.
