Still a problem with chickens being ejected?

I hatched two battle chicken eggs the other day and they were immediately ejected from my house. One completely disappeared and the other one took off running to the east.
I left my house to chase it and when I would get close enough to tame it, it would skip ahead 5 tiles or so, until for some reason it couldnt runaway anymore.
The one I thought completely disappeared, I found 6 screens away and went through the same thing as the other one to tame it.

Any clue why they are doing this and when it might be fixed??

Was your house public or private? Think someone mentioned awhile back that if house is private the chickens wont stay in the house but if public they would.

It was private...

that sucks though.. why should i have to make my house public so they wont run away?

Given how many times there have been 'oddities' with hatching chickens, when I did a quick guide to keeping battle chickens I strongly suggested that people try hatch eggs in small rooms in towns - others have also suggested small islands, or boats.

I'm probably going to keep following these ideas, since it seems problems with hatching keep recurring. I know some folks will leap up and say it's all about the house being public or private, needing to hatch on the ground floor only, or the owner of the house needing to be the person hatching, or all sorts of other suggestions - and they might be right, but since I've read and experienced things going wrong when the house was public, and hatching was done on the ground floor by the home owner - I'm sticking to what I know works.....

I dont have a problem and havent had for a while now but my house has always been public and I had the ejection problem twice.

I have a small stable in the house and when hatching chickens I go inside and close the door. Once hatched inside, the chickens actually have nowhere to run to, they stand motionless and I can just tame them without the need for a scale collar.

If your house is private the chicken will be ejected, this is an intended feature.
Use a small room in an npc building and you can hatch and tame the chicken with no problems.
