Stength Sapped - what happened?

My base strength is 100 and my weight I could carry was around 475 (not sure teh effective STR as I have a few points on items). Anyway all of a sudden I could only carry max 299. I looked at my STR on UO Assist and it says my base value is 100 but effective is 77. I waited 10 minutes or so to see if some sort of long lasting curse spell was on, and I checked all my items for curses or anything that could explain it.

Can anybody tell me what the heck is going on?

You may have been hit by a curse or weakness spell. These temporarely lower your stats. The can counter this by casting strength, drinking a strength potion or casting remove curse.

Some times i get a perma curse status on my buff bar. i counter this by reapplying the same de-buff to reset the timer. If im perma mindroted(crimson dragons does this to me every time) i find a freindly necro to re aplly the mind rot to rest the timer and once it wears off its gone. Now I dont think these perma buff icons actuly mess with my char. I dont think they do. Its just he buff bar that get messed with. I think you may have another problem entirly.

You could also try dropping your bar then bringing back up again.

I had this problem too. Would be around 175 stone when naked and empty backpack. Tried dying and running over server lines like they suggest, but in the end, just had to page a GM. Takes them 2 seconds to fix, known bug
