Stealth tamer question

For background, I'm thinking about working on a stealth tamer.

The stealth guides online tell me how many steps I can take depending on a character's stealth skill, as well as how to train up the skill, but they don't seem to address my primary question.

Here it is: does a higher level of stealth allow greater success in beginning to stealth? For example, will a character wearing all-leather armor with 100 stealth be more likely to succeed in an initial stealth check than a similarly outfitted character with only, say, 85 stealth?

I'm trying to figure out how high I need to train my stealth up to in order to have the best chance to stealth but still conserve skill points.

Thanks for the help!

If you are wearing a fully med-able suit, 75 stealth will allow you to succeed in stealthing 100% of the time.

So yes, you can save some points there.

Cool, that is EXACTLY the kind of info I needed. Thank you so much! :)

I heard it was 80 skill allowed you to stealth with no failure so long as your armor is mediable. The skill also trains to 80 and stops, so I believe 80, not 75, is the correct #.

I have had 120 stealth on my archer and there is little difference between 120 and 80. If you are faction you might want to consider 120, as if you get statted your 120 stealth can drop to 80 and still be useful.
