alright lets use this example and see if it makes sense, some guy wins a gold medal in the olympics and you happen to be next to him and grab his gold medal, he then gets it back but then you tell the head guy that oversees the olympics about it and then he hands you the gold medal because you stole it from a guy that earned it legitimately.... yeah that wouldn't happen in real life, guy would be tackled and arrested by police if they attempted that in real life and the overseer wouldn't take your side

alright lets use this example and see if it makes sense, some guy buys something off a soulless vendor near a magical moongate, and you happen to be next to him and sick your soulbonded tamed dragon on himl, he then gets it back but then you tell Thor about it and then he hands you the item because you ganked him legitimately.... yeah that wouldn't happen in real life, guy would be guardwhacked by police if they attempted that in real life and Thor wouldn't take your side.

I can make up funny irrelevant stories too!

where people knew the risk,
If someone is in Fel, they should understand the risk they can be killed or robbed. If they don't, they should learn more about the game they are playing.

Real life also has rules. Felucca is the land of player-enforced rules. If people were upset, they could hunt down the thief, kill them before they sent the item off/ran, etc.

Trammel is "Real life". You can't go around killing people, you can't rob them and so forth. One facet allows people to do otherwise, if you do not approve of it, stick to Trammel/Malas/Tokuno/Ter Mur/Ilshenar. The people who want to kill and steal will stay in Felucca.

The house bit, yea, it's a bit shady, but before I place anything valuable I detect hidden. It's safe and it works 100% of the time in your own house.

The analogy just isn't there bud. This isn't real life, it's a game with entirely different parameters from real life. In UO, stealing is a legitimate profession. In UO, the government is subject to competing claims for the throne. Some folks walk around saying they're king but doing nothing. Others say they're the king and enforce the laws they pass. Some folks just go out and ignore the existence of any government, though they are still subject to the will of others.

Evil Lord SMuRFY says he's the King. He taxes citizens. He is an absolute monarch that chooses to re-appropriate chattels to where he sees fit. Don't like it? Play the game and oppose the King.

A guy is handed an item from B for doing no work. The tax collector takes his piece of that guys income. The government keeps the item. The person that handed the item to the guy then breaks into the government storage facility and in the process destroy the item. B's Boss decides that rather than subject B to punishment, the best result is to pay restitution damages to the government. The government decides no further action is necessary because it is made whole by the damages it receives.

Unfortunately for you, this is a more analogous story than you propose. UO is not real life, it's a game.

i know what felucca is ive pvped and played my thief for years and years, but i dunno how this guy doesnt see whats wrong with how he plays, im sure a lot of people have zero respect for the dude, but the sad part is that the EMs on legends constantly have events in felucca and instead of going to tram afterwards to hand the item out, they do it in fel, have no time to insure and its stollen before they know it, so they get screwed over without a chance

Woah this has gotten kind of away has it... now...

It isn't SO SERIOUS, demonous... you had a go on this one, damn...

I was just trying to correct your first pitch sir...

so you don't end up thinking that it's ONLY a game.

For some people, and some moments, it's more than a game ; think about all those that became millionaires because of UO.

They might spend their money in less than honorable ways, think about it ; it makes this more than a game in some parallel realities if not the main.

The goal is to catch people being stupid and being a "cool" thief... then pls leave Mrs.Smooch alone for christ's sake... :twak:

I think you will find that most people's interpretation of a thief in uo is someone who uses the skill 'stealing' in Felucca.
Stealing deco in Trammel is not considered acceptable.
I strongly suggest that you confine tales of your adventures to the uo pvp thief forum where your 'cleverness' is more likely to be appreciated.
