Stamina Drain Bug?

I can not run/walk anywhere without massive stamina drain like I am overweight. This happens naked, nothing in pack, on a mount (ethy or otherwise), so imagine my joy running through the Abyss or the Underworld to get somewhere. This is the ONLY character I have problems like this on... anyone have any suggestions?

No, in fact it does not reflect in my weight at all. Just a drain on my stamina.

For example... the other night a couple of us were going to play with Navrey Nighteyes. We came in through the fire island entrance, out the side door and down past the entrance to the Abyss. Getting to the entrance of the abyss... I had to stop there and let my stamina regen (it was over half gone). Then, we took off through the goblins and wolf spiders. Again I had to stop at the fountain and let my stamina regen. My pack said I had just a touch over 100 stones out of 421 possible. BUT my stamina just dropped. From the fountain... we ran to the entrance and into the cave where Navrey is. I had to stop just inside to again let my stamina regen as it was completely gone.

I've never had any of my characters do this... and I'm a 6 year vet? It's almost like one of the curses some of the mobs put on you... one that doesn't show in the gump but seems still active?

On the other hand, I just paged a GM... waited over an hour for them to tell me that I am not suffering from stamina loss at the moment but feel free to page should this occur again?

WTH? I stated clearly that it was when I was actively playing... I had been waiting in my house for the page to go through. So no... as I was not moving... and had NOT been moving for more than an hour... well.. you get the point?

Anyone know a better way to say it so that in less than 200 characters... the GM gets what I am saying?

I had a stamina problem, too. I paged a GM about it, but ended up logging out before they got to me.

Every time I would teleport my stamina would drop to half. I also had the stamina problem when running or walking.

Just last night I noticed the stamina problem was gone. Yay! I wasn't sure why. Right before I started to post this I remembered I played with my soulstones and skills in the past couple of days. I will have to check more closely, but I think I took necro and ninjitsu off my character and put those on soulstones. Does your character have either of those skills? I'm thinking my skill transfers fixed my stamina problems.

I'm riding a polar bear currently. She did ride a unicorn for a while but I don't remember how long ago this started. It's been a while.

I'll have to check her out again tonite because I did just transfer skills a couple nights ago and haven't really played her since. Not ninjitsu but inscription/spell weaving. I'll also check dex. No focus.

It's one of those things that was just annoying but, until SA came out, I really hadn't played enough for it to be an issue so it was more of "hm, that's weird". I lose stamina noticeably just running from my front lawn into my house, not to mention anywhere and everywhere else.

well the reason i was asking about the dex/focus was that i know when i make a new character that has 10 dex and no focus i run out of stamina quickly when running anywhere. and it's even worse if i have "always run" checked.

My son had this happen and got the same responce.. "We don't see it NOW!!"
What we did was have him do was to keep walking till that char had no stam. Page and keep walking. We had to try three fixes. What was done to correct it was the GM had to reest all his Stat by hand and reset the focus again. There had been something to do with taking the human to elf quest that effects chars due to the Jack of all trades. Fater all were resst the massive stam loss stopped.

Oh and be NAKED and Carry NOTHING when paging .. this seems to get them to looks if you have NOTHING on you.

Hmm... hate to dig up an old thread but I have an Elf character now that has the stamina bug. The only thing I have been doing different is moving skills around on a few soulstones. I ride an ethy horse also. Anyone else have this problem or perhaps a fix?

Hmm seems I have this same issuse on my tamer not sure about the other characters yet..

This actually happens a lot to my elf tamer/mage. Although he's usually always on foot, his stamina plummets way too fast if he needs to run anywhere.

I didn't do the human to elf quest, he's never overweight, so shouldn't ever lose stamina at the rate it drops. I'm even working the dex stat up more than it "needs" to be to see if this helps some.

My initial thought is that it may have something to do with the changes on one of the previous publishes. This was the one where they "corrected" stamina loss on flying gargoyles. Maybe this had a knock-on effect with elves somehow?

The problem is that elves do not have the jack of all trades like humans do. So unless you have around 20 focus on your template, you will run out of stamina if you run (not walk) places. I counter the drain effect by getting a piece of armor with 3 stamina regen on it. This happens to all elf characters and I believe to gargoyles when they fly as well. Therefore, no one is "bugged".

P.S. Ya'll should get out and run every now and then. You will realize that "running" places will drain your stamina. Unless you're like me and have stamina regen on your running outfit and high dex.

Yes, as red sky pointed out, it's all about focus and stamina regen.

For Imbuing-vs-skill-points purposes, it's UO-street-smarter to have 3 stamina regen + 20 meditation points, instead of 2 mana regen + 30 focus points.

humans get passive 20 focus etc that help this not happen.

other races do not. I never remember seeing the elves showing the drain - maybe they finally fixed the code to work as intended but yeah- nonhuman will see it now. add focus or stam regen to a suit

I have an elven character with 20 stamina and no regen. Sooo... that explains it. THANKS AGAIN! I'll try to rework my armor to get the regen. This is my only elf character too... and she started out as an elf. I completely spazzed out on the Jack of all Trades thing...

I think it happens more so on elf and Gargoyle chars with LOW Dex/Stamina. Humans have at least 20 pts in focus even if they have 0 skill. My weaver tamer mage had minimum DEX, and I had to get a ring with SR 2 imbued on it to help him move. He is an elf.

my miner/ljer is elven but I offset the stam regen with Focus. being primarily the resource gatherer with some archery for protection, he does pretty well. all my other characters are human so I have the JOAT in place.

Having higher stam just means it takes longer to run out. It was so bad for my tamer with min stam that he could barely walk without running out. I am sure that this is somehow bugged.

A problem with wearing jewels or articles that boost stats, is that every time you log in, recall, or use any type teleporter is that when you reappear your stats go back to what they are naturally and you have to regen for them to come back up. Crossing a server line would also cause this. It was frustrating to say the least. So I put SR on him, and it seems to have solved the issue.

I only run 2 SR on my suits, its a hell of a lot cheaper then imbuing 3 SR and you get the same results.

I had a human char with 60 focus have this problem once. I could see I was losing stamina when walking, but the focus would regenerate it. When running, the 60 focus couldn't keep up. Then one day, it went away.

At the time I blamed it on the cloak of corruption, which I would wear in the Moonglow bubble battles.

Did your chars ever wear the cloak of corruption?
