Just an idea, would be great if we were able to apply what we wanted to the stone instead of taking the whole skill down. (Example) I need to drop tactics down to GM, I know it takes a bit to gain back up, why not stone the extra points so I can put them back when I need em, or use it on a different character.

Would be too easy to exploit. You could simply train up to 60, ss the points, train up to 60 and voila, legendary tamer. Sorry, sounds like a good idea until you think about it. Unless of course I'm misunderstanding the concept, which is always possible...

Hmm I understand what you mean, then what about that (ss frags only) would bond to one character to use that skill! That would work possibly?

In that case, one could train to 60, stone it, then train to 60 again, then add to 120

Well this would be difficult but being that the stone would be bonded to you, and that you've raised it to 120 or whichever 105, 110, or 115. You only could raise or decrease what you've taken or put in.

Even worse... with 2 stones... buy to 40, stone - repeat - buy to 40 a 3rd time, reclaim both stones and instant 120 - rendering SoT's, Alacrity Scrolls, etc. worthless.

I can see the desire for what you are asking for, I just don't see a way to make it not easily exploitable.

The only way it would work is if you could soul stone point ranges. That would be a bit messy, but it should be doable. By point ranges I mean you could soul stone, for example, 100 - 120 taming. In order to use a point range you have to have at least up to the starting point for the point range trained.

Not sure I am totally following that... but

For example... you have 120 taming and want 100... so you stone 20 of it leaving 100 on the character. The stone is tagged so that the 20 can only go back to that character?

Then I'd just put the 100 on a 2nd stone (It should now not be tied to the 100 range because it was the total on the character when stoned) and I'd then be able to add the 20 onto the character and restone it so it would now also not be tied to a range...

From there, I could buy skills in blocks of 20 to 40 and add them in to basically duplicate taming without training???

Maybe I am missing something - but still seems easily exploitable.

This part right here...

That would be a no-no.

It would be you are a 120 tamer, you take down the 20 points that are locked on your special stone. You cant trade it nor do anything with it other than add back what you earned or take it back down.
Forget about exploit or duplication here this is about learning. I am trying to figure out a way here that if someone said to you train music up to 120 then you realized 120 is not what you wanted you could stone that 20 points until you wanted it back and ONLY to that character no other transaction transpire.

I'd think this could work if the SoulStone sets the point range that was stored... 100.1 - 120 of Taming for example.

Then if you want to recover those skills it does a skill check to make sure you have at least 100 in Taming. If you have more than that excess points will be lost.

By doing this no one could store say 40-0.1 range three times and then use those to get to Legendary.

One example of where this could be helpfull is for a mining character who wants to collect only Iron ore, they could lower their skill to collect only Iron ore and then recover their points and smelt.

Absolutely great way of explaining it! :thumbup1:

unless what you stone off reads:

100-120 tactics

so you could only stone it on if you were at that skill level (100) but if u were at 98 tactics, you could not stone it on.

just realized someone else already posted the same thing...oops lol

Almost every skill that goes to 120 can be trained to GM again in under a day. Tactics is certainly easy enough.
