The idea of the last event cycle, as I have stated repeatedly, appeared to be that the bad guys got the better rewards early on, then the good guys caught up.
If you say so. But those spell focusing sashes seemingly dropped from every third goody I killed, and since everyone else was off chasing that silly low-drop sword the baddies had, the sashes were worth more than they should have been. I made a killing there.

Anyway after the utterly pointless 'corrupted book of truth' and the hysterically useless 'epiphany armor' that no one has ever worn into battle, I think I'm just going to sit this one out.

So you're simultaneously complaining that you made a killing from being a bad guy at the last event and that the bad guys had an "utter pointless" reward at the last event?

anyone tried to do the quest more than once on the same character?

My whole guild is pretty much sitting this out. Everyone went there, people were getting one and two-shotted, there was an epic grind for different documents ahead, and the reward was some book of no apparent use/value. They farted around with it and had already bailed to go do a champ spawn by the time I got on.

Yeah yeah it'll totally be imporant later on. Sure it will.

One should do events for the storyline; the rewards should be secondary. (In this context "the storyline" can be as simple as, the town you bank at is being invaded and you don't want to change cities.)

If you do events, especially EM events but even the gamewide events as well to an extent, solely for rewards? Then you are probably better off doing something else. And if you feel entitled to a reward, and/or a reward you will deem useful? Then yes, staying away from events is an excellent idea. Fel champ spawns are an excellent alternative; you are guaranteed a reward (a minimum number of scrolls will drop), and if you have a big enough group the risk is minimal or less.

I think it's closer to the truth that things get changed, which is why Mesanna always gives him that look when he says things, because he is so excited.

Or it's things out of his control (like with that video that was delayed, what.... 4 months?).

Did not Cal, (I think in a video), say that book would/will be needed in the rebuilding of Magincia?
I hadn't heard that.

(Nor had I noticed this post until now; sorry.)

More likely he'd have been referring to the regular book and/or the blood-purified ones, though, and not the corrupted ones?

Big-time extrapolation going on in this post.

I think that Cal and Mesanna probably spend most of their time reporting to EA corporate and need to get approval from EA corporate to so much as take a ****, let alone release content.

And because EA corporate doesn't care a **** about UO or its 50,000+ players , despite the essentially free profit it gives them, which is stupid on their parts, they delay responding until it just doesn't matter.

I base this, though, on very limited empirical evidence. Like I said, a lot of extrapolation and inference here.

the one that gets your name on it I think, same one you essentially trade the full (sans cloak) virtue armor set for? It's been quite some time since that video - I 'thought' he was by himself in it.

It wasn't the blood-purified books

Yeah wow, we should all really be enjoying the deep immersive storyline of "sitting here shooting these demons" for hours on end. The hilarious part is that after this, you went and started what amounts to a "this event sucks" thread.

Then I'm one of the 99% of UO players who like loot. Honestly I'm so tired of hearing a tiny number of loud people on this board tell me "Events aren't about loot, bosses don't need to drop loot more than 1% of the time, pirate hunting isn't about loot, blah blah blah" every time the developers screw up and make yet another activity worthless.

You're just flat-out making things up now....As a response to things I've said, which is its clear intent, this post is a total failure, because it doesn't respond to anything I actually said; rather it sets up a delusional fantasy of what I said, and responds to it instead of what I actually said. Next time just post about ice cream; it'll be about as relevant.

You got plain old Books of Truth from the Brit Moongate quest.

Then, if you were willing to commit genocide against the Meer on behalf of the Bane Chosen and Virtuebane, you could convert that to a personalized "corrupted book of truth." The blood-purified ones, presumably related in some way to the corrupted ones, came from the last battle against Virtuebane, in Magincia Island.

Well said. I remember when the last original EM on Sonoma quit the last thing he/she said was that he/she was tired of all the greed. People wanting only rewards and not caring about the story-line they spent their time creating for us.

Sadly though greed is the driving force behind a lot of players. Luckily not all though.

Maybe they should get over themselves and just accept that MMO players love loot more than they love whatever bad fanfic an EM can manage to scream over a crowd, instead of heading for the fainting couch like a scandalized 19th century southern belle over it.

honestly i only participate in events if the reward is something i will use on a daily basis., i.e. conjururs garb, trinket, augmentation cloak etc...

corrupted book of truth??? no thanks. some armor im never going to wear... nope... olmecian access orb??? i have 6 but dont know what there used for.

so i'm all about the pixel crack, though it has to be useful for the toon.

i'd rather go chain medusa for the slither that never seems to drop.

im not throwing stones at those who like these types of deco quests. its just not how i choose to spend my ingame time.
