Color Guard

As you approach the pedestal, you notice the shimmering barrier protecting the beautiful lotus within. As the Gargoyle Queen warned, this barrier covers the area surrounding the pedestal, preventing access to its treasure.
Reaching out, you test the barrier with your weapon. The weapon does not penetrate but rather acts as if it is being pushed against a brick wall. You notice, however, that making contact with the barrier causes the colored tiles around you to come to life, their brilliant colors flashing in what seems to be a sequence.
You observe the tiles as they beautifully light up, one after the other. There seems to be a pattern to their flashing; perhaps repeating the pattern is the key to lowering the barrier?
Putting your weapon away, you watch the tiles with further detail but, after one series of flashes, they go dark. Stepping upon the nearest tile, you see that it lights up once more upon contact. It seems that the tiles respond to touch; the pattern and the key to the barrier begins to be clear.
Shall you commence another sequence and attempt to drop the barrier?

Hey, you! You can see me?
This is wonderful! I haven`t spoken to a mortal in so long. It can get pretty droll here in the realm of dreams, and I have no one to play with! There aren`t many of us left.
What`s that? You want something?
My scales! Ha ha! You mortals are so silly, always after something or other.
Well, I`ll happily give you some scales if you agree to play a game with me! I love games, don`t you?
Let`s see how fast you are, mortal. If you can hit me 6 times within one minute, then you win! And don`t worry about hurting me; here in the realm of dreams nothing can hurt me unless I want it to! Which I don`t, because what fun would that be?
So, do you want to play with me?

Knowledge of Nature

Greetings, mortal.
I sensed the aura of the Gargoyle Queen surrounding you, which is why you have been allowed entry into my bower. Zhah proved herself a friend to my people long ago when she aided us in escaping her crumbling lands .
Do not think that will be enough for me to provide you with what you seek.
I know that you require a strand of my hair, mortal; I am one with nature and can sense the thoughts of those who tread my forest. While I understand you bear the intention of aiding the Gargoyle Queen, you must first prove yourself a friend of the forest before I will part with it.
I ask that you answer a few questions to show that you are knowledgeable about nature. A series of questions; no more, no less. If you answer them correctly and truthfully, I will bequeath a strand of my hair unto you.
Do you accept?

You dare refuse me? You are truly an imbecile. Ah well, I guess I shall eat you, after all! Just as soon as I finish digesting my last meal, that is.
The jar is still empty, fool. Go get my souls!
I can smell the souls, mortal. Give the jar to me!
You are lucky you were successful; I was just getting hungry again. If you had returned empty-handed I would have made you my meal, instead. But you have done me a favor so I shall not eat you this time.
The smell of these souls, so exotic and sweet, makes my stomach grumble. I must eat them now!
Oh, my, delicious! I can taste the suffering they endured during their death throes! I can taste the echoing cries of the victims whose hearts they cut out and devoured. This is overwhelmingly delicious!
It brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy, for this is the best meal I have had in centuries! My tears is what you sought, aye? Then take some, for I offer them happily. Here, I will put them in the jar you used to collect the souls.
Now, be gone, for I grow tired and wish to bask in the afterglow of this wonderful meal.

Droll? Since droll means witty, or amusing, or diverting, that seems to be completely the wrong word for the rest of the dialogue! Surely they meant to use 'dull'.....

Sounds like some fun interesting quests... though also sounds like I may be SoL again ..... never could do the color puzzle room my internet is far too slow and intermittent for that.

But it sounds interesting.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I just know they're going to insist we do that whole 'gather 10 documents from overpowered demons' quest first, or kill 5000 of something, or whatever.
