Doing the quick maths in my head if there is 23 plats and say 10 at 10k and the rest at 2k, im easily going to be spending 150mill on tickets on 3 shards i play so thats 450mill on tickets from one person and im not even stupidly rick compaired to alot that will be partisapating.

I think the rares comunity will be heavy on this as it would be awsome to bring all those museums on shards to come together in one unique place to have a rares village like manti has been building on baja.

Would be cool if people or the shard reportsers can keep a recold of tickets sold per shard at the end to see how much gold was taken out the game, or the devs anounce it at the end.

More broadly I have to say that UO players are on-average poorer than most of the richer ones think.

The richer ones have a skewed view and a skewed average.

I agree ... i've been back to UO for about a year now and definitely have less than 20m total combined on all my chars.

According to this, there are 22 plots:

If you scroll down, they have a map of all of the plots and only show 22, with the are between E-4 and E-5 being a beach. It looks like from that radar shot that is posted above the map, that it was an accident when they were drawing that map. I'm going to log in later and poke around and see how many plots there are.

I wondered if you could buy tickets for every single plot and it seems like you can.

Spending money on tickets is ridiculously easy...you just enter how many tickets you want and you insta-spend the money. It shows your chance of winning, how many times others have entered, and will be a huge gold sink.

I finally got a chance to log in a few minutes ago. Unless they make the fenced off areas NPC shops, it is not going to be Luna 2.0. Of course the moongate being where it currently is will also work against Luna 2.0.

I also counted 22 plots.

I'm not seeing how they can draw players here after the lottery is over.

The fact that so many houses are together in one safe area will lend itself to being a boon for player vendors. On most shards, even the Tokuno homes around the city are often for vendors.

It might not compete toe to toe with Luna, but make no mistake that it will prove a bonus to vendors to have plots on Magincia.

Aside from vendors (and role players who want to live on Magincia) I do not see any way that this entices others to try to get a plot there... especially as most shards have TONS of open housing as it is.

Actually, I recall reading something that the Devs specifically said they did NOT intend this Lottery to be a gold sink........

I applaude the 1 ticket per account choice so that ALL players, regardless their in-game wealth, will have the same chances.

Well said. Not everyone in this game is rich. I know I am far from rich myself, lol. I'm sure the devs also wanted new players to be able to have a chance at a mag house too, not just the wealthy vets.

One set is a "limited lottery," the other is a "gold sink."

The major problem I see with the current system is that it may cause a logjam due to xtraders holding onto deeds. I like the fact that even a newbie can join the fray due to low costs, but the low price also means a lot of vets will try to win plots just for the sake of selling them on other shards. That may delay communities from building early on during the stages of re-population, however, the bidding wars will be interesting. I like that we see how many total tickets are purchased at any given point of time.

Being able to bid on 22 or 44 lots at a low cost, on every shard on each account will make things interesting. It would take some money to bid on all 1,000 houses, but if you just pick up a ticket for the northern lots, it's very affordable and that's still 500+ lots. Odds wouldn't be too shabby.

I'm hoping that Siege will have a low number though. I had a house that was partly in the Vesper city limits and I let it drop the last time I took a break, and that was incredibly dumb. I should have just given it away to somebody - Petra probably could have found a good owner for it.

It does, indeed, mean that you could buy 1 ticket for each of the 11 houses per shard in the northern half on both facets.

Truthfully, unless there's a low number of people going after the houses, it's unlikely anyone would win more than one -- statistically speaking -- but of course, one never knows with the RNG.

I'm sort of two minds about it, but I have to admit I think I'd go with the system as is simply to give people a greater chance of winning something over nothing.

I don't honestly see a lot of cross-sharders trying to buy the Magincia plots... Consider that they would simply adding to the overall total of tickets bought and home-sharders are much more likely to go after them aggressively. So without a win it would be a waste of money for a cross-sharder.

But on top of that, cross-sharders don't typically have a lot of ability to place houses. If a cross-sharder were to win a plot, they'd have to hope on hope to be able to sell that plot for at least what they spent, but most would be looking for a profit.

Someone drops 150,000g on a house, wins it, what's the likelihood of selling it within 30 days for 200,000g? 175,000g? For an island of 18x18's it might be a better chance, but I'd have to say that it's unlikely for a 15x15.

Time will tell, but I don't see cross-sharders making a huge investment just for the sake of doing so.
