I like the option to display Legacy paperdolls. It actually was one of the hardest things to get used to in the KR or SA clients. I've now played the EC almost exclusively though for more than a year. Now, when I load up the classic client the paperdoll seems strange.

Why keep making the ec look more like the 2d....no one will switch over this plus I happen to find the 2d paperdoll ugly and out of scale, at least it looks like it's toggleable. Maybe there is a toggle for kr graphics hidden in there, that would be nice!

EC makes some people sick, So if they add 2D paperdolls and 2D models (I wish!) then the only difference is the UI and ground art (which I think is fantastic).

So hopefully it will help solve those issues.

The EC fixes are nice...Some of my chars look better in CC, others in EC. It's nice having that option. All that would really remain to do is add in more features folk use from UOA and go over some of the artwork which still needs love.

As for the trading things I'll wait till we get the full details on what can be traded and the mechanics. I don't want pet vendors in any form if I'm honest. Pet vendors in Luna buying and reselling from everyone else will really put a spanner in the works for some of us. Commodity trading sounds great if you're a scripter

The rest all sounds interesting and cool, I'm keen to see how it all fits together.

Argh. Thats funny. Thats Scary. And its accurate with the way this game is going. Its dress-up UO. Not explore and adventure UO.

Well, there are more reasons why people have issues with the EC. But the paperdolls are one of my bigger concerns and pet pee wees.

I've heard some kind of auction house and some kind of pet broker thing.

I don't care for either one because to me they remove a little more personal interaction from the game, and that is always bad for UO. I hate Luna with a passion, but I don't think the solution is to remove personal interactions.

I'd rather they add a /Trade (Global) chat channel.

One thing I will say is that if we're all right that that's two new armor sets, I'd like to briefly argue against the kilt having properties without the rest of the suit.

In brief I think there's enough slots that have item properties. We don't need another.

If you want an unconventional slot for the suit , how about the robe or sash slot or something. Make it a Tunic instead of a kilt, so people can have something in that slot other than a sash.

Same argument goes if all of these are separate items, I'd argue against using the kilt.

Remember every time you give properties to a slot other than the ones we have items with properties for, you make the item a "must have" for that slot, which just makes us look more alike, which kills one of UO's most important assets: Variety.

Better, I would suggest, to give us more items for slots that are already filled with propertied items, thus giving us more variety.

Now of course this doesn't apply if the pieces are part of an armor set and the Kilt is deco-only without the rest of the suit.

I pretty much agree. However, I think the world art in the EC needs to be sharpened up, some of it is too dull looking.

A problem might be the number of frames in the animations. If the EC is 2.5D then they must have quite a few more. So the old art wouldn't work the same way, and might not work at all.

What I wish they'd do is make new avatar/MOB art that is along the same style of the CC (realistic, sharp), but better, and put that into the EC. Sharpen what needs to be sharpened elsewhere. Fix what needs to be fixed in the EC. And then drop the old CC.

And I wish they'd drop the slotted backpack.

Expansion Pack

How long since UO High Seas came out? And how long did they say between expansion packs? IMO an auction house or game-wide vendor system could be enough of a must-have to become the heart of an expansion.

Only those who buy the expansion can use the vendor system. Add 20% more storage and I would buy it.

A pet broker would be a tremendous addition. I don't know how many times in the past I thought of getting a pet of one kind or another, but just didn't hassle with it because it wasn't a real need. Plus, having trained up packies would be something I'd like to invest in, as I don't care too much for beetles and bugs.

Ugh, I feel another worthless Logrus item coming on. It's going to have some bizarre overcomplicated set of properties with huge drawbacks, a lack of any good properties that are "overpowered" in his opinion, and two months from now it's going to languish on vendors for half the price of an equivalent imbued piece while the developers scratch their heads and wonder why everyone didn't give up their LRC/LMC suits in favor of "evil mana burst".

Also, search sites and an in game system are totally different. A heck of a lot of people don't look outside the game they play for 3rd party sources of info / sales. In which case, why do we have vendors at all? Maybe the only way you can sell items in game should be by spamming at a bank, or in chat? A lot of people have been asking for the ability to put pets on a vendor for a very long time. It would be a terrific change, and there is nothing to prevent anyone who wants to sell pets the old school ways from doing so, just as there is nothing to prevent anyone from selling any item in those ways.

That's weird, I don't feel like communication has been so "god-awful". They've clearly been undergoing some turmoil in their merger with Bioware, so I'm willing to cut them some slack, but in the meantime if you check out their Facebook page, they have been far from silent.

The merger with BioWare was a year ago, they only recently got around to changing the name to BioWare Mythic.

Furthermore, irrespective of any "turmoil," posting a brief message saying something to the effect of "Unforeseen issues, please bare with us..." to the Herald or even here takes a few mins. That they haven't bothered to do that is unacceptable.

Those few mins would have quelled a lot of anxiety.
