Hikaru watched as the man was carried off into a room, and from what she could gather without prying too much, he was alive but deep in a sleep. It was obviously not any of her concern, so instead of joining the people trying to render assitance or just get a good stare, she sat in taproom, bored.
In an effort to stall her growing feeling of boredom she began to pick at her nails with the point of her spear, which she had sharpened to a ridiculous point out of a nervous habit.

Quiby felt more useless than she normally did when things happened that were out of the ordinary, although fortunately for her, there were still things to be done, and hungry mouths to feed.
Without a word she returned to the taproom, surveying the damage from whatever it was.
The table seemed to be Ok, if not for a few knicks and sctratches, but the bottle of wine had made a real mess.

Looking down upon the Inn that had been his home for so long... Torr sat atop Slayer, his white steed. His armor, no longer on his body. His weapons, hanging from wall hooks over his fireplace. His friends... he didn't know. He hoped they were okay.

He couldn't go down, things called to him. Odd things. He felt drawn away, his time consumed by so much more than before... yet there was still a longing.

Perhaps if things slowed down... maybe he could ride again with his friends, and do battle against whatever evils lay in the lands.

As Torr turned his mount away from the Inn, he gave the companions that he hoped were still inside a farewell salute. Perhaps not forever, he told himself, and perhaps he would see them in another setting.
*"I shall return my brothers in arms. Even if it is for a final farewell. But know you are in my thoughts, and prayers."*

OOC-Well I think I'll try my hand at role playing a evil charecter, that way when ever things slow down too much here I'll just have him try to take over the world. Good incentive to post right?

And Torr you will be sorely missed on these forums. But I don't blame you. With all you are doing for Stratics and Mos Strahteks I don't know how you keep up with every thing. At least I'll be seeing a little bit of you seeing how I'm trying to join Mos Strahteks. Hope to see ya around.

Zeazrom Looked out over the multitud of Juka, controllers and, Golems. They were the last remnants of the Juka Army left in Britannia. When Juka had been ordered to pull out of the citys they had invaded and return to Ilshinar, many wished to stay and carry on the fight. Those that had decided to stay escaped into the mountains where they had found a dungeon filled with human criminals. After killing and driving out these humans they had made it their home for... how long had it been? Months, a few years? Zeazrom wasn't sure. What he knew was it was time to once again drive fear into the hearts of the people of this world.

Zeazrom was a Chaos Dragoon Elite, possibly the last one left in britannia, and he had become the Leader of the forces that now occupied the dungon called Wrong. For a long time they had been waiting for the time that the people of the cities let down their guard. Turning to the mass of warriors he spoke, "It is time to once again show this world our might. Tomarrow we fall on the town of Yew and we finish what we once started. The people of that town are now few and weak. After Yew we will take this world city by city. Rest well tonight. Tomarrow we will drink the blood of our enemies!!"

The Crowd of warriors Cheered and Zeazroms ears began to hurt from the roar. Soon they began to dispersed to celebrate their upcoming victory and rest. Zeazrom turned to return to his chambers when a movment in the shadows caught the corner of his eye. He turned back to see what it was but saw only a empty dark corner. His eyes must be playing tricks on him again, so he turned and left to prepare.

Hikaru watched the pair out of the corner of her eye, choosing to observe them without making the fact apparent.
It dawned on her that maybe she’d spent far to much time in the types of bars populated by the sort of people a young, unescorted female of any race would be well advised to be wary of.
She had doubts that the elven boy’s interest in assisting the girl stemmed from anything but honourable intentions, but it was true that the boy was far older than most of the unsavoury types who’s advanced she’d been forced to avert with the point of a dagger

Quiby wasn't particularly surprised that Kysh had followed her and offered his assistance, although his willingness had left her in two minds regarding the matters.
On the one hand, she couldn’t forget that there were often days when she wouldn’t find ten minutes to stop and rest from the time she started in the morning, until after all but the night-owls had gone to bed. With that in mind, she had no choice but to gladly welcome the assistance.
On the other hand, she knew that he would be unable to dedicate himself to the job to the extent that she had, and that the time would most likely come when he grew bored, or adventure called and he would be forced to choose. The decision would either leave her without an assistant, as well as softened by the lessened workload, or else he would remain against his will, and deny himself for her benefit.
She also harboured a vague concern that without the constant work dominating her life, her eyes would turn to other pursuits, and the fickle nature of her mind might lead her to abandon her duties. Of course she was weighing a number of possibilities against something that was very much the case.
She smiled in the way she had had so much practice doing over the years.
“Thank you,” she bowed her head appreciatively, “be careful, the glass is sharp”

Hikaru concluded that the she’d time spent in unsavoury, yet affordable bars had been worth it, if only for the insight it gave her into the subtleties of body language and speech.
Her deductions were made easier by the fact that the girl’s body language, even when it was at its most subtle, was about as hard to read as “My Story”.
As she watched, it was obvious that the boy’s presence was distracting the girl’s less-than-perfect attention.
“You would make a wonderful couple,” she suggested in jest, knowing that the girl’s reaction would tell her whether her suspicion was right.

Quiby’s eyes opened wide in surprise, and the small handful of glass she held fell to the floor as she spun to face the woman, her cheeks glowing red with a blush that showed that, despite her age, she was still somewhat shy and innocent.

OOC: (Sorry, there’d not been many posts and the thought of spending far too much time writing something that’s cheesy and pretty worthless amused me greatly.
Also, I might have remembered this incorrectly, but I think “My Story” was the children’s book by Sherry the mouse, which happens to be Quiby’s favourite book

Kysh head the lady sitting near by say something but wasn't paying attention becaues he had put down his shoulder bag in order to help better and Metal decided to send a tendrail out of the bag and swiped some glass off the ground. Kysh turned his head away from everyone so that no one would notice the green glow in his eyes as he thought to Metal, "No Metal, glass isn't food."

Metal didn't seem to care and Kysh decided to let the slime do what it wanted. Besides the first time he met the slime it was munching on a old sword so maybe glass was fine for the Slime.

Hikaru stood, making a vow to herself that she would refrain from the tempting pursuit of winding up the girl in future.
"I'll be outside if you need a hand with the table," she offered, before turning and covering the distance to the door in a few swift strides.
A quick glimpse back revealed that the girl had returned to her previous task, whether or not she would actually ask for help was anyone's guess, but Hikaru had more important matters to attend to than righting an upturned table.

"You have a vicious sense of humour, Hikaru," she chastised herself, feeling a little guilty for the amusement she found in the girl's discomfort.
Misa stopped chewing on the grass at her feet and trotted over to meet Hikaru, circling her a couple of times while nudging her shoulders.
“I know, I know,” she sighed, “I should be spending more time with you, and less with these strangers”
She swung herself up on the saddle and leaned forward, resting her body along the creature’s neck, embracing its neck in her arms.
“Good company and even better food,” she sighed, “I could almost feel comfortable here”

"He is un-aging..."

Tristan whispered to himself. He couldn't help but wonder if the old mage would turn into an infant by the end - he had heard of that happening, but he had never believed it possible. Tristan knew that in something was not right about all of this - something was changing...

<font color=00008B>A thief in dark leather watched as a woman exited the Inn, she had a horse with her and was carrying a weapon - perhaps not a good choice as a target. The thief snuck closer and to his delight he noticed an unarmed noble man and a lady he was no doubt courting, also leaving the inn. Waiting until they had rounded the corner and headed down the wooded path towards the city, the thief traveled with much stealth and agility to the briars beside them.

<font color=00008B>The thief's dagger plunged into the noble man's back, then he grabed the woman's face so that she couldn't scream.

"Forgive me, but his gold it worth more to me than his or your life."

Another passer-by called to them, the thief looked back and the woman managed to struggle free;

At the first sound of a scream Kysh's senses opened up. Luckily Hoppy was watching so Kysh could see every thing through his eyes. Two people were on the ground, the man looked injured. Another man who had obviouly attacked them was running into the forest. Kysh smiled, he was running into his forest.

Kysh decided to see how far the thief could get with about five or six birds pecking at him and a Kir-in in hot persuit. Kysh mentally commanded Hoppy to give chase and recruited some near by birds to slow him down a little as he ran out side to see if he could give some help to the people who had been attacked.

Zeazrom studied a map. He had just sent out scouts who would be in the Yew area sometime after morning. The rest of the army would be about 6 hours behind them. He wanted to take this city losing as few of his warriors as possible so he did not want any surprises. He sat there in his planning room trying to think of anything more that might help his army... of anything that could threaten his army that he might have missed.

<font color=00008B>The thief was quite proud of himself, hearing the gold rattle within the pouch he had just stolen, until he heard the animal in pursuit. It didn't sound like it carried a rider, but none the less, a horse traveled faster than a man on foot. Suddenly, birds started attacking him. To not lose focus, he waved his arms around. 'Stupid birds, just go away.' Thinking he had stumbled into their nest or irritated them only caused him to curse himself too. These birds weren't stopping! The thief started swinging his dagger about, hacking at the birds, but in motion he couldn't focus on hitting them. So he stopped. Within a precious minute he had killed the four birds pecking at him. He could see the light of the approaching horse - but it wasn't a horse. Knowing his animals, the thief headed towards the river, that was one way to lose a trail...</font color=00008B>

“Misa,” she prompted, although it wasn’t necessary, the llama was already taking the necessary steps to allow her to retrieve her spear from where it rested against the wall of the inn. Year of fighting together had given them each a good insight into each other, and they could work together almost without communication.
It was pretty clear to her who it was, a courting couple had passed her not long ago, the expressions on their faces had told her how little they understood the importance of Misa to her. They had passed her and whispered to themselves; no doubt about the strange looking girl hugging her llama, as they entered the wooded path. Now one of them lay bleeding, just in her view, the woman dividing her time between staring at the wounded man and glancing anxiously in the direction the perpetrator had gone.
The elven boy all-but flew out of the door behind her, “Boy,” she called, removing a pouch from the saddle, containing various bandages and tools she kept for the unfortunate circumstances when she found herself injured, “They are on the path to the city,” she threw the pouch to him and Misa took that as her cue to move.
Again, without the need for words, the llama took her rider into the woods where the woman directed her glances. The pair of them moved as one between the trees, the llama almost dancing between the trees and obstruction, the rider keeping a tight hold on the llama and her spear.
Within moments of entering the forest, they came across a crude path that ran almost straight in the direction they were heading, obviously caused by the Kirin, which was barely visible up ahead.
The Kirin’s progress was slower than theirs, perhaps due to its method of charging headlong through the forest, as opposed to Misa’s rather terrifying methods, and they caught up relatively easily in the trail it left.
Without an awful lot of notice, the Kirin swerved to the left, which Misa followed with a small deviation that threatened to lose Hikaru on a low hanging tree branch.
“If you can get me through this without killing or losing me, I’ll get something nice cooked for you,” she offered the llama, “but otherwise, you can find your own damn food!”
They followed the Kirin for a few moments more before Misa was forced, once again, to make another swift diversion to her course, avoiding an unwanted collision with the Kirin, or a trip into the river.
“If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking,” she warned, “then you’re eating grass for the next month,”

“If you’re wrong about this, then I’ll make sure you’re on the menu tomorrow,” she muttered to the llama, shaking the worst of the water out of her braids.
As she pulled herself back onto the llama’s back, water continued to run down both inside and outside her armour.

If it wasn’t for the fact that she had so much to do, and indeed so much that should have already been done by now, she would have welcomed a few of the day’s diversions. But not only was it the truth that she was running greatly behind in her duties, but also many of the diversions were unpleasant for those involved.
Now there was a woman screaming for help in the vicinity of the inn, which could not, under any circumstances, be a good thing.
She couldn’t really ignore the cry, when her immediate duty was tending to a broken bottle, and so for the second time, she abandoned her little pile of glass.

Kysh Grabed the pouch as the lady on the llama rode off. IN side were bandages and other stuff for healing, Kysh began taking stuff out of the bag in order to administer to him when he remembered something. Kysh took out his change rod and it took the shape of a sword with the symbol of commpassion on it. Kysh remembered that Neph had once healed him of his injuries useing the powers of the sword of compassion. If his change rod could copy the magical properties of any magic wepon it came in contact with then...

Holding the sword with one hand he put his other hand on the injured man. The sword began to glow and Kysh could see the injury on the man began to mend. After a couple Minutes the wound was healed and the man lay resting peacably.

Kysh sought out Hoppy with his mind and found both the Kir-in and the theif. He noticed Quiby had come out so he told her, "The man will be ok, I'll be right back."

Kysh's change rod then changed from the sword with the symbol of Commpassion to a darker sword with the symbol of Chaos on it. Kysh steped into the shadow of a tree and faded from view. He appeared a moment later in the sadow of a tree directly in the path of the fleeing theif. Kysh's Change rod changed once more into a bow and Kysh fitted a small notched stone on the string and aiming it right at the theif said, "Hold it right there."

He could hear the lady and Hoppy begining to come up behind the theif.

Back at the in Kysh's Shoulder bag was left on the floor near the broken bottle. Every once in a while a tendrail from a slime would come out and swip a piece of glass off the ground and soon all the glass on the ground was gone.

After munching on the glass Metal just sat in the bag waiting for Kysh to return.

Hikaru was not overly happy to see the boy, not only because she’d left him with her healing things to tend to the fallen man, but because Misa and herself had ridden relentlessly and crossed a river, only to find him waiting, as if he’d just strolled over.
“I trust someone is caring for the victim,” she said coldly to Kysh, while fixing the thief with narrowed eyes. She knew that he had probably healed him with magic, since he obviously used magic to get here; either that or the man was dead.

Quiby saw Kysh’s sword change from one of compassion to one of chaos, which troubled her more than the man lying in a pool of his own blood, since chaos was certainly no part of the virtues she attempted to follow.
With an effort, she turned her attention to the man, who seemed to be no longer dying, but most of his blood was no longer in his body.
“I think that maybe he should rest somewhere that isn’t here,” she suggested, running the tip of her finger over the blood-soaked ground.

<font color=red>Every time the thought of moving crossed her mind, two other thoughts joined forces to crush it before it manifested itself into an action. Firstly she remembered the words of her master, the one person in the land she had no choice but to obey; “stay there”.
Secondly, she remembered one of the reasons she hadn’t been selected to join the scouts or the warriors; she was as blind as a day-old kitten.
So instead, she remained crouched in the shadows, listening to her master mumble to himself as he ran through a seemingly endless list of “what if…”’s.
“Master,” she said, deciding that since he hadn’t told her to shut up yet, she should take advantage of it, “I am confident that your warriors can conquer a city of farmers without you attempting to hold their hands every step of the way.”</font color=red>

<font color=00008B>The thief noticed other's closing in on him. 'Drat...' He thought. Knowing that he could not out run horsemanship, he decided he must totally vanish to them, or fight. The thief decided to do both of his decisions; turning around he quickly threw two poisoned throwing daggers and rolled to the water and crawled up into the forest's deep undergrowth. After preparing a purple potion as fast as he could, he tossed it aimlessly towards the two, as if not directly trying to injure them. Upon it's explosion he darted out and under the canopy of trees he ventured off towards town. 'If they follow me any more, I'll have no choice but to kill them both...' As to not be unarmed, the thief grabbed his dagger and a bola - just in case he had to unhorse the pursuing warrior.</font color=00008B>

Zeazrom responded to his servent, "I'm not worried about the farmers. The guards at the prison however, if they somehow found out about the attack and organized a defence they might make things difficult for us. I can't afford to lose too many men so surprise will be important."

Hikaru prided herself with being faster than most of the people she met in battle, which made it possible to dodge many of the blow that would otherwise need to be absorbed with heavy armour. The only real downside was that she had to be aware of every attack that threatened her relatively unprotected body.
As a result of whatever had been going through her mind at the time, she had failed to anticipate the thief’s attack. Her second mistake was to turn her attention to the elven boy, to be sure that her was aware of the attack, thereby taking her attention from any attempt to block the dagger.
She didn’t know what hurt more; the bit of the dagger piercing her flesh, the burn of the poison, or the anger she felt at her own neglect.
A violent convulsion wracked through her body before releasing her to slump limply forward to rest on the llama’s neck. In her final moments before darkness consumed her, she got the vague impression that Misa was taking her somewhere. Not that it mattered to her any more.

<font color=red>“Am I to believe that you have kept me from battle to prevent my possible loss?” she asked icily, “or were you hoping for some time alone with me?”
She made no secret of her resentment at being left out of battle, she loved battle as much as she needed it, since it was deaths in her vicinity that gave her the undead strength that made it possible to heal herself , and perform other, often necessary functions.</font color=red>

Kysh was about to go in persuit of the thief when he noticed the womans horse riding off with the woman injured on it's back. Deciding to let a near by pack of wolves track the theif Kysh turned his attention to the fleeing horse. Linking his mind to the horse he could tell it was frightened but could also tell it cared deeply for its rider. It didn't take much for Kysh to calm the horse down and convince it to bring the woman back to she could be healed. When the hose can back Kysh tried to let the woman down as gently as his small size could, and turning his change rod into the sword of compassion again went to work healing her.

Once linked together we will march through the swamp and attack the rest of the city. This time we will wipe them all out," Zeazrom explained.

Hikaru opened her bloodshot eyes slowly, letting out a long breath as she did so. It appeared that the poison hadn't killed her, despite her earlier predictions. This could mean that either the poison failed, or the boy had cured her, which seemed more likely.
She pulled herself up to a considerably less comfortable sitting position and took stock of her situation; her head hurt more than it had the morning after she'd lost a rather uncharacteristic drinking contest, and her veins felt as if they held acid rather than blood.
She let out a long sigh while looking at the dagger on the floor by her side, covered in her own blood.
"For what little it's wor-" she brought her hand up swiftly to cover her mouth before falling prey to a bout of coughing.
She wiped the few drops of blood from her lips with her hand, and then her hand onto the gras before continuing, "For what it's worth, I appreciate-" she coughed again, only a little less violently, and with a lot less blood.
"This," she finished, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes until a small wave of nausea passed.
Her hand reached for the dagger beside her, "I don't suppose you apprehended the theif before tending me?"

<font color=red>"It is essential for a commander to have an eye for tactics," she explained patiently, "I haven't an eye for anything, I have been blind for almost as long as I remember." She stretched her wings in an almost instictual reaction to impress her master with her almost eleven foot wing span, especially after reminding him of her greatest weakness.
"I do not think the warriors would gladly follow my command," she continued, slowly relaxing her wings and allowing them to fold back in, "any number of them might have greivances with my being undead, that I am female or even my blindness, to name a few"
Her wings finally folded in, and she looked in the direction she beleived her him to be in, "might I move now, master?"</font color=red>

Hikaru opened her mouth to say something, but stopped before forming the words, instead she smiled awkwardly.
“You’ve just saved my life,” she admitted, “and I have no idea what to say; ‘thank you’ seems somewhat inadequate”
She sighed and held her left hand out to him, using both his support and Misa’s saddle to pull herself up. “I owe you my life,” she grunted as she pulled herself up onto Misa’s saddle, a little awkwardly, but the boy’s healing seemed to be doing pretty well, “I just want you to know that I realise that, and I fully intend to repay the debt”

Quiby looked a little flustered, but she knew without trying that even with the woman’s help, she wouldn’t be able to get the man back inside the inn.
“I shall return promptly, milady,” she said, doing a little bow before running back to the inn to find help.

<font color=red>“My comfort is irrelevant,” she stated, before moving on, “Perhaps there is something I can accomplish alone, that none in your army could easily attempt.”
She stood and took a few steps forward in a fluid series of motions, bringing herself out of the shadows to reveal the contrast between her silky black fur, and her pale white undead flesh. She was almost the spitting image of Quiby, but for every hair on her body being blacker than night, and her impressive wingspan.
“I could fly in and enter the prison from the north, drawing the guards’ attention from the happenings outside,” she bowed her head solemnly, “the risk of my destruction is ever-present, especially when surrounded by highly trained fighters such as they. However, when you and your armies are finished with the farmers and the monks, you can either come to survey my victory, to set me free from potential incarceration, or to collect what remains of my body. I shall expect full honours in the event of the last circumstance.”</font color=red>

Not that she would actively seek such a goal, but if it happened, it would make things a lot easier for her. Quiby spun, surprised that she hadnft noticed the man standing there, and immediately taking a dislike to him. In her experience, people who wore black robes or capes usually brought trouble with them.
While her eyes had obviously not been sharp enough to notice him, they did manage to pick up the chaos symbol of the sword, now that she was looking.
Her tail flicked a couple of times in aggravation before she managed to bring it under control, the tone of his voice wasnft helping, although she had grown used to people mocking her over the years.
She bowed to him respectfully, choosing to ignore the rather sickening urge to sink her teeth into his throat, obviously her feline side reminding her that it was still there.

Elux continued his transformation, growing younger as the light of the staff of zero grew brighter and brighter. Finaly as Elux returned to about the age he was dureing the war Zero began emitting a humming sound and then suddenly shattered sending shards of a glass like substance flying through out the air. As the staff shattered Elux yelled out visously in a spasm as he became awake and upright.

Still dazed and looking about he noticed Tristan who seemed to be bleeding slightly. Reaching out towards Tristan's wound with his hand Elux began to murmur arcane words untill his face froze solid a look of terror etched into his face as the words
"My magic where is my magic" murmured forth from his lips in a whisper before he collasped falling to the floor.

"Well," Kysh said, "I wouldn't say Obsolete. My Powers may be impressive but they take alot out of me. I'm afraid I"m not much use whenever it comes to an endurance match."

The one armed man just continued with his sinister smile and said, "I belive you and the others here would be intreasted in knowing that an army of Juka are leaving the Dungeon Wrong at this very moment and will attack Yew tomarrow evening. You may be intreasted in knowing that their path will lead them very close to this Inn. Do what you wish with this information, but I'd do it quick. Even now their advance scouts are entering the forest."

OOC-Hopefully when the fighting starts it will give a chance for some new and old charecters to hop in, if not Yew and possibly the Inn is in some serious trouble.

Hikaru stretched her arms above her head, feeling stiff all-over, probably from the poison.
gPerhaps we can finish this discussion later,h she suggested, gIfm sure the thief wonft be in the forest forever, and as you said, your abilities drain youh
She slid forward a little and patted Misafs hindquarters; git would probably be best if we stuck together, especially since I donft know the wayh

<font color=red>gAs you wish, master,h she said, turning on a heel and walking out.
Although she was blind, she remembered the layout of the dungeon almost perfectly. Combining that knowledge with her remaining senses made her as good as any person with sight, more so with the darkness inherent within the rough-hewn walls.
It didnft take long until she could feel the sun warming her dead flesh, the increased heat making movements that much easier compared to the cold, dank atmosphere she had just left.
By the feeling in the atmosphere, it was past midday, and so from the angle of the sun she worked out the direction she was to fly in. With a series of powerful beats of her wings, she took flight, and started formulating her plans.</font color=red>

gI would ask how you know this information,h she said suspiciously, gbut it seems that I donft have the timeh
She bowed slightly, gIfm afraid I must take my leave of you, sirh
She turned and walked briskly towards the doorway, gnot another one,h she sighed, thinking about trying to persuade Garth to have the inn rebuilt somewhere else, because it was almost certain to need rebuilding after the imminent fight against the army.
She made her way into the inn, noticing Kyshfs bag on the floor, as well as the lack of glass; obviously someone had cleaned it up for her. She picked up the bag to keep it safe from any nimble-fingered patrons, and slipped it over her shoulder, whatever was in there felt a little strange, although it wasnft her business to snoop.

A strange, but familiar voice echoed in the minds of all in the inn, for some it was too weak to make out, but for others it was clear as day. Quiby, who's mind was pure, was especially vulnerable to the mental penetration.

"Please, please. I hope you can hear this. My strength is dwindling. I'm not strong enough, I can't keep my mind in focus... I.... " the voice began to fade out, "my physical body is still in the world, but I... ethereal.... I'm so alone. I don't want to be alone anymore.... help me.... please.... anybo-" Finally the entire message faded leaving those who heard it with an odd chill running down their spine.

A wispy form of the figure known as Orbix began to come into being in the darkest corner of the inn, he was clad in black robes with a hood drawn tight. The figure's form seemed to swirl in and out of existence. Bright glowing green eyes underneath his hood was the only real detail that could be made out of him, as he began walking across the open floor of the inn heading for the stairs. Patrons moved out of his way as he walked a aura of cold radiating off of him, some moved back in there chairs others began to reach for weapons. The figure ignored them all as he began walking up the stairs heading to the room that Tristan and Elux now where currently in.

Stepping through the room's door the figure came beside Tristan and Elux who lay on the floor unconscious.
"Tristan did you hear him? Please I ask you save my brother otherwise I will have to return to this world and with me shall return the barlon in hyloth that my life force was used to stop."Orbix then reached out with his hand towards Elux and with a motion caused Elux to awaken. "I have returned your youth, you and Zero are truly one now it’s the least I can do, your powers will return in time my apprentice.

Quiby drew in a deep breath as the message came to a close, the sound of the voice invoking a veritable storm of thoughts and contradictions to pass through her head. Somewhere deep within her, she still felt a sense of loyalty to Xyon, but also resentment for the happenings of the past. If he hadn’t approached her with a chance to make a difference in the war against the undead, she would still be one step closer to a naïve innocence she barely remembered.
She let out the breath in a soft, shaky sigh, squeezing her eyes shut in the hope that it might help her push the memories to the back of her mind. The act was one of futility, and she knew it even before she replaced the inn with darkness populated with sketchy images of undead armies and the suffering of war.
As the past had proven, she was not very good at dealing with stress, and had a tendency to faint at the worst possible times. In light of this, she opted to delay passing on the news of the marching army until she had managed to have a glass of milk, at least. She needed to organise her minds before she fainted and spent the rest of the day in bed with a cold flannel on her forehead.

Kysh opened his mind to the animals of the forest to see where the thief had gone and instantly felt somthing was not right in the northern parts of the forest. The animals there felt oddly nervous. Searching through the eyes of the cretures that felt odd he saw that a number of groups of.... well he wasn't sure what they were. At first they looked like large men but their faces were wrong. It was a creture he'd never seen before. What ever they were they were sneaking around the forest like oce scouting parties did be fore an attack.

"Umm," Kysh turned to the lady, "we might have more to worry about then a theif. But a bunch of what looks like scouting parties are entering this forest about a hours hard ride north of here. I'm not sure what race they are I've never seen anyone like these. But they are big, uglier then orc, and are wearing red and brown uniforms."

Tristan was startled by Elux, but then saw Orbix fall back to the ground. Shortly after his mind was pierced with the voice of his old friend Xyon... A figure stepped through the door, it was Xyon's brother Orbix. Tristan responded to what Orbix had to say:

"I will help Xyon anyway I can. If there is anything that can be done to bring him back, give me direction to do it."

Tristan turned to Elux.

"You look as young as me my old... err... young friend?"

Tristan was a little bit in awe;

"Are you ready to save our friend?"

Quiby finished her small glass of milk and took a deep, slow breath, noticing that none of the problems that required her attention seemed at all different than before.
She sighed and hung Kysh’s bag on a bit of wood that protruded conveniently from the side of a cupboard, at least there it would be as safe as just about anything could be in the inn. She knew that no amount of milk, or slow breathing would change the fact that the man outside needed bringing inside, or the fact that an army marched on Yew.
It took a great deal of willpower to ignore all that was going on as she made her way to the room that Tristan had been in with the injured man, but with such an important message to deliver, there was no choice for her.
She entered the room without knocking, which in itself was suspicious enough; “Tristan, I must…”
She noticed Elux, conscious and looking considerable more youthful on the bed.
“I must speak with you on a matter of importance,” she said, looking into Tristan’s eyes with a serious expression, “I also require your assistance”
She turned and took a step towards the door, thinking to herself that, maybe the lull wasn’t so bad after all.

“Then perhaps it is safe to presume that they precede an army,” she suggested, “and that they are probably heading towards Yew”
She brought the tip of her spear close to her face, staring intently at the gleaming metal as she spoke.
“We should warn the people of Yew, and also the people of the inn,” she looked to the boy, “if, as you say, your abilities weaken you, perhaps you should return to the inn. Once you have warned the people, you can rest or meditate, or whatever it is that you do”

<font color=red>Xylon listened intently as she pair spoke between themselves; finding the topic of conversation interesting enough to bring a smile to her lips.
Had these two children really found out about the invasion already? Surely that couldn’t be possible, especially since the oldest sounded like she had barely finished puberty, and the youngest sounded like he had barely started.
There was something else about the younger voice; it sounded strangely familiar, although the only way she had to identify people was through sound and scent, and there was a strong smell of river-water coming from one of the two, which blocked most other scents. </font color=red>

Quiby turned and smiled, Tristan was always so nice to her, and in return she was about to all-but ruin his day with the news she was going to share.
“One might say that I’ve come to you as a little, furry harbinger of tragedy,” her smile faded, being replaced with her mature, series expression.
“A little while ago, a man was attacked on the path to town, although he is going to be okay, and Kysh has gone in pursuit of the attacker with the woman with red hair. I was on my way to ask for your assistance in assisting the man inside when I was stopped by a strange man with one arm, and a sword of chaos,” her expression darkened a little, thinking of Kysh wielding a similar sword.
She sighed, “There is an army marching on Yew. They will pass close to here and arrive at Yew some time tomorrow afternoon or evening; I think he said that they were… Juka?”
“I’m scared, Tristan,” she said honestly, “but I know that you would never ask me to do anything that was wrong, so I will do anything you ask”

"I can't belive I didn't notice it get quiet here all of the sudden. All the nearby animals were spooked by the scent of undead and left this area. I think we're being watched."

<font color=red>Xylon spoke in a voice that sounded like Quiby’s, only weaker and wheezing, “I think that ‘watched’ is overstating it a little bit”
She rose from the undergrowth and took a few deliberate steps towards them, scraping her shoulder over the bark of a tree as she did so.
“It would seem that you have somehow found out about-“ she broke off in mid-sentence as Hikaru’s spear pierced one of her lungs on its way through her body.
“That,” she coughed, “was nothing short of really rude,” she gave Hikaru a blind, aggravated glance.</font color=red>

Tristan put his hand on Quiby's shoulder, as to comfort her;

"I will need to you stay close to me my friend. We have an advantage - the battle is coming to us and we have time to prepare."

Tristan turned back to Elux and the shade of Orbix;

"I shall be downstairs, it seems war is brewing. These people here will need protection."

Tristan then frowned a moment.

"I do not know how to bring Xyon back... Perhaps I will figure something out..."

The thought of what Juka were was not entirely clear to Tristan. He had heard of them before, in the mountains of a new land, but never saw one before. Perhaps they were just more evolved humans? Tristan did not know, but he would soon find out.

Orbix looked at Tristan for a moment before speaking, "I dont know how to bring Xyon back either im bound to this plane at the moment.Furthermore my apprentice here has spent the last hunread or so years searching the outer plane and realms with no trace of him. Yet now he speaks across the threashold once again".

Elux stood up from the bed looking at Tristan and Orbix, he tried to sence the power that normally layed withen him yet he could feel nothing. Before fadeing away Orbix spoke once more as if addressing the world vs Tristan and Elux. "If Xyon's spirit is not rescued and set free by the falling of this nights moon I shall return to this world and with me deamons shall also return."

Elux stood in the room by himself for several moments as Tristan left to head downstairs, he held his hands out in front of himself looking for something that seemed missing. finally with a sigh he headed down stairs and found Tristan, "I dont know how well ill be able to fight with magic in this upcomeing battle, but if theres a staff lying somewhere around here in my youth I use to be pretty good with one. "Xylon!!" Kysh gasped as he turned to the sorce of the talking. He had been slow to stop the woman he was with from attacking on sight but it didn't appear to matter much. Xylon seemed to be just brushing it off.

"Hold on a sec," he said turning to the woman, "I know her, she saved my life once, " then turning to Xylon, "Xylon I never had the chance to thank you properly for helping me, thank you. So what brings you back here?"

Quiby welcomed Tristan’s comforting gesture with a reaction that had clearly come from her feline side, and crept past her attempts to avoid embarrassing or regrettable actions. She tilted her head over to his hand and rubbed the fur of her cheek on it, in a close approximation of a feline nuzzle.
It took a few moments for her to realise that she was doing it, and once she did, she wasn’t entirely sure that she wanted to stop; it was quite refreshing to allow her feline side a little freedom.
She lifted her head, albeit reluctantly, and looked up to Tristan. Her sheepish expression lasted as long as it took to remember the dire situation they were all in.

Hikaru stared at Xylon for a while, her animosity towards the creature almost as obvious as if it had taken shape.
“Fine!” she snapped finally, “just scream when it starts chewing on your liver”
With that she brought Misa about and rode a short way into the forest, out of sight so she could attempt to make her armour a little less uncomfortable.

<font color=red>Xylon listened as Hikaru went off into the forest, probably to sulk about being given orders by a boy who seemed younger than she was, of course he would be quite a bit older; he smelled elven.
Xylon wasn’t sure how to tell him that saving his life only happened because her sister almost died in the ongoing effort to protect the boy from something, she never did find out what. Overall, it was probably best to be her usual conversationally inept self, so she nodded once, slowly.
“Yew has to be warned,” she said, “I cannot defy my master, or else I would do it myself,” she reached up and tapped the collar around her neck.
“You must warn the guards that I am to keep them occupied, away from the main invasion, and on completion of the invasion, I will be recovered.” Xylon’s choice of words clearly indicated that she harboured a belief that she might not survive the battle, and her tone indicated that the prospect was not an unwelcome one. “The guards would do well not to waste time attempting to slay me, restraining me would take far less time, and would still keep me out of the battle”
“My master should be accompanying the invasion,” she added, “I do not know how powerful he is, but he wears a ring, which apparently has a likeness of me entwined around it. If you can retrieve it, put it on, and then you will be my master.”
“Is there anything I have not told you that I should?”

Kysh took a moment to consider the information he'd just recieved. Then looking Xylon in the eyes he said, "If this ring is controling you then We're going to have to find a way to destroy or break it's control over you. I don't like the idea of one of my friends being forced to fight for an invading army. I'll make sure Yew is warned. There is know way I can stop an entire army... but I can arrange to have those scouting parties welcomed into my forest. I need to get to the Inn right now and warn them."

Kysh summoned Hoppy over to him and mounting up turned to Xylon and added, "Don't worry Xylon I'll find away to free you. Take care of your self and thank you."

Kysh thought for a moment trying to think if there was a way he could restrain Xylon now andsave her from having to fight now, but that would probly mean fighting her and since he had nothing to restrain her with it would only end up leading to injury and loss of energy. He had information now and for the present that would have to suffice.

<font color=red>“I do not feel that destruction of the ring is the best solution open to you,” she explained, with a hint of warning in her voice, “consider this spear”
She stooped and picked up Hikaru’s spear, feeling it slick with her own internal fluids.
“I could take this weapon and use it to slay an ogre, or I could slay an innocent child,” she stepped back and leant the spear against the tree she had scraped her shoulder on, “the weapons has no power over how it’s used. Which is much like myself; if a person who seeks to exploit my servitude for evil wears the ring, then I will be the spear used to slay an innocent child. The ring is neither good nor evil, but it can serve either purpose”
She took as deep a breath as her punctured lung would allow and closed her eyes, focusing the energy she had remaining to repair the damage as if it had never happened.
“I once overheard a story about a scorpion who asked a wolf to help it across a river, the wolf declined, of course, the scorpion would sting it while it sat on its back. The scorpion promised that it wouldn’t and eventually the wolf agreed, and before long the scorpion sat on its back as it swam across the river. Half way across the river, the scorpion stung the wolf, and as the poison slowly killed the wolf, it asked,
‘but why? Now you’ll die too.’ The scorpion apologised, and explained that it couldn’t help it; ‘it’s what I do’
Xylon’s face took on a sober expression, “I am undead, I take life to give myself life; it’s what I do. Setting me free is a bad idea”</font color=red>

Hikaru listened to the creature as she pulled her leather leggings back on; at least they weren’t sticking to her legs any more.
She really didn’t want to know what to make of the creature, aside from being the almost identical twin of the girl at the inn, she was undead, and had just admitted to taking life to keep herself alive. Although in the same breath, she was warning the boy that setting her free would be a bad move, which didn’t sound particularly evil to her.

Tristan had been in somewhat of a daze - he was thinking of too many things. It was time to do the regal thing and push them all aside for the impending battle.

"Quiby, these patrons need to be notified so they can prepare to fight or leave for home. Let them know that anyone who wishes to protect their own homestead will not be looked down upon for leaving us."

Hikaru and Misa found a trail, which made the journey considerably easier, since Hikaru didn’t have to hold on for dear life as Misa practically danced between the trees.
The ride was still not an easy one, and she felt blood running down her cheek, from one of the many branches that had lashed at her face as she passed. She was glad, once again, for the fact that she had braided her hair; at least it meant that she wouldn’t look like she’d been dragged through a bush backwards when she arrived.
“I think,” she said to Misa, “that I’m going to have to have a few words with that girl, if I ever see her again”
The thought occurred to her that she’d likely stay behind and see to it that the guards wasted as little time on the undead creature’s diversion as possible, and from there she would join the defence of the town, which was going to be a costly endeavour. Unlike a number of the other towns and cities around the world, Yew was certainly not built to repel invading armies, therefore a great many people would die in its defence.
She passed the outlying farms and continued riding, her quick pace and refusal to acknowledge the casual greeting of the farmhands obviously raised suspicion; after all, no one ever rushes to tell of good news.
“Hold!” commanded a guard as she approached the building that housed the mayor at a full gallop.
Misa came to a swift halt and turned sideways, allowing Hikaru to use the momentum that threatened to throw her from the saddle to dismount. She saluted to the guard respectfully, acknowledging him not only for his position, but also as a fellow warrior, if not a little softened by the warm guardhouse and cool ale that showed on his waistline.
“I bring news of an army, advancing from the east,” she stated, “I have news that will be crucial to the defence of the town”
The guard nodded, looking like he’d rather put the girl down for the benefit of his ego, but she had obviously ridden some distance to deliver this news, and had suffered for it.

Quiby noticed Kysh enter the inn out of the corner of her eye, and wanted as much to welcome him back as she did question him about the chaos sword. But she could do neither; it had so far been a long day, and it didn’t seem like it was going to get any shorter.
She turned on a heel and strode off, the fact that she hadn’t responded to Tristan’s request only made her feel worse about herself. She pushed the kitchen door open with a lot more force than it needed, and slammed it shut behind her with equal force.
She ignored the tendril that seemed to be coming from Kysh’s bag, helping itself to the leftover bread dough that she hadn’t had time to tidy up. Her destination was a space in the far corner of the kitchen, where a spare sack of flour was often stored, but like so many things, she’d barely had time to replace it, even without the events of the day.
She reached her destination and threw herself down in the corner, hugging her knees and crying into her fur.

OOC: (No need to apologise, I was a little concerned, however, since both you and Tristan had both gone somewhat quiet.

By the looks of the people in the Inn Kysh was guessing that they had somehow already learned about the Juka army. There were people moving here and there either prepareing defences or leaving the Inn in a hurry. He saw Tristan and Quiby but Quiby was leaving to go into a different room. Going up to Tristan he said, "Tristan! There are Juka scout parties all over the forest, and...." Kysh looked around to make sure Quiby wasn't around, " I ran into Xylon. She's being controlled by the Juka who are marching on Yew."

The night was just settling, as the creatures that prowled in darkness began to creep about. Xyon stood there, facing his brothers as he leaned against the roughness of a yew tree.

"Why do we gotta do this?" Xyon said, looking from Lothar to Orbix, then back again. "Why do we gotta get involved with this war?"

Lothar looked at him as if he spoke ill against the King himself. Instead he chose to ignore it and kept watch, only his head visible above the bushes he was crouched in. Orbix stood casually next to him, between Xyon and Lothar.

"The orcs have been sending wave after wave of, 'troops'? I suppose you can call them that, into Cove. We have to do our part Xyon, haven't we taught you anything? I hope your cowardly blood doesn't run in us all." Orbix said, his eyes still focused on the path in front of them.

Xyon ignored what he said, "What ever you say. This war means nothing."

Xyon said that but it was a lie. He knew how to fight, not well but he could keep himself alive, and he had never been on an adventure. He'd never visited a dungeon, never even seen a monster any stronger then a water elemental, and that was at a fair distance. He would have gone out to battle himself, but his greatest fear, and few knew this, was to be alone.

Tristan, who was still pondering what to do about the impending events, noticed nothing as a piece of parchment was slipped into his pocket. Inside it was a message written in ink, but it was scratched as though a three year old did it.

'Trisstaan---trisat---tresstan. Tristan smiled at Kysh.

"Don't worry, I believe the people of Yew can fight off the Jukans."

It was then Tristan noticed something in his pocket; a note... From Xyon? Tristan read it to himself, then shoved it into his pocket.

"Kysh, I need you to do something for me. There is a body of a man, his name was Xyon, it is south of here; we need to find it. I have to get to Yew's Empath Abbey before the attack, there bank is within it's walls."

Tristan gathered up his sword and shield, and put on a feathered hat that someone had given him as a gift.

"I will need to borrow someone's mount - I can't run the distance on foot fast enough."
