Some Build Advice

After now being back into the game for about a month after a 9 year layoff I am starting to work toward my goals with RadioActive my tamer on Chessy.

I had some money (not much but a little seed money from before I quit too bad I couldn't earn intrest in the bank over those 9 years). I purchased 120 taming (i had my taming capped at 110 previously). I purchased a 120 scroll for Vet (I had vet capped at 110 previously). My Animal Lore is currently at 110 and will be saving up for a 120 scroll.
A friend just last night kindly gave me a 120 spellweaving scroll. So my build looks so far like this:

Total skill points 705

110 real 120 with jewel bonus Taming
110 real 120 with jewel bonus Animal Lore
110 real 120 with jewel bonus Vetrinary
120 real Spellweaving
100 real Magery
100 real Meditation

That leaves 55 points which with some tweaking i could get to possibly 85 with jewels.

Where should I put these points? Anyone give me some ideas on how they would tweak this?

I know someday I would like to get 120 magery and Meditation which will chew up points as well but for now Magery is way outside my price range.

Many thanks for your imput.

I guess to be more specific I am not sure if there is something better than say Focus. I just figured focus would boost my mp regen slightly but not sure if someone else had a good idea. Just like hearing opinions. Thanks again.

That 100 magery is bothersome. I'd consider raising it to 120 so you can use a mage weapon. Even in pvm a mage weapon can be a life saver. Then I'd raise my meditation to 120. That leaves you with 15 points to use on magery on a jewel plus the five from the alchemist tally to make up for a -20 one handed mage weapon.

You can exercise control of all current pets, including dread mares, with 115 taming and 110 lore. I have two 120/120 tamers and two 115/110 tamers, all of whom own dread mares: I see no noticeable difference between them. That saves you some room. Also, I do not think that you will see any difference in cast success between 115 weaving and 120 weaving, so there's more points saved.

If you don't want to buy a 120 mage scroll, another option is to go 115 with a mage weapon. The idea is to avoid some of the low-level melee damage and 115 effective weapon skill does this well enough, while saving you many millions.

I also agree with the comment about meditation. Spellweaving is nothing if not mana intensive. The more meditation, the better.

If you still have lots of points remaining or use a lot of skill jewels, the next skill I'd invest in is eval int. The weaver/tamer is one of the easiest templates to play. After a few months, you'll get bored with watching your greater attack things and might want to help him via magery/eval.

Thank you all for the advice. I do want to go up to 120 with magery. Unfortunately the scroll costs around 8 million or so on my shard. I've only been back in the game for a month so I don't have that much money just laying around. I am trying to improve my gear and I still have to train up most of my new tames since the pets I left in my stable 9 years ago have been mainly left in the dust compared to the new pets out there. Keeping a few of my great pets from long ago.

Down the road I will go with 120 magery once I can afford it.

I appreciate the comments on spellweaving and I will debate 120 taming 120 lore and 120 vet vs 115 taming, lore, and vet.

I just love pets so having more stable room the better so I might stick with the template but then again down the road I might move back to what you advised.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Then again, not sure that skill jewels count toward stable slots, so there may be no advantage at all to the current template. :(

You can put skill items on to get the extra stable slots, so skill jewels are an option.

120 taming is very nice if you plan to tame a lot of high end pets. Now, as you're in the position where you have a bit of skill left over, it's really up to your personal preference if you go all the way to 120 or stop before then and boost up with items to get your stable space, tame something tricky or control a dread/bane etc.

Yep I planned on jeweling up to 120. Eventually once i got some things worked out SW up to around 100 or so and working on leveling Honor up so that I can try to tame GD's to find a great GD. Unfortunately Dreads no longer spawn so I can't tame one of those. I am really not all that interested in Bane Dragons. The model for Bane Dragons and Swamp Dragons just have never worked for me. They look like depressed dragons that ride a small bus to dragon classes.

No offense to those that ride them to each to their own.

I have a near perfect stat plain Cu Sidhe. I am naming her Plain Jane. She will be my primary tank in certain situations. Still trying to tame a Pure Black for my style ride.

My guess will be eventually purchasing a reasonably priced Meditation 120 scroll for more mana regen.

And a long way down the road getting a 120 Magery and a 120 eval iq (which is gm'd but stoned off right now).

If I had some advice for you it would be to find a good well established guild on your shard and join it. The decent veteran guilds will help new and returning player members with basics such as power scrolls. I'm not saying you should join a guild just to get scrolls, but there's nothing wrong with accepting the kind of help that will make you a more productive member of that guild.
