Soloing Dread Horn with a Tamer : anyone ?

Does anyone solo Dread Horn with a Tamer ?

If so, I have a question........

Best pet for the purpose is a Greater Dragon ?

Regardless the pet, has anyone been able to keep up with the healing of the pet without veterinary and only using Greater Heal (mainly to stay well away from DH area effect spells and to avoid being teleported) ?

Is it feasible, using maxed out Mana Regen AND maxed out Lower Mana Cost to be able to keep up with the DH damage on the pet only using Greater Heal ?

Having 120 Meditation + 120 Focus can help getting the job done for faster passive meditation along with the MR and the LMC ?

Would Spellweaving and/or Mysticism help in some ways to get the job done ? If so, how ?

Or would Necromancy be a better pick for the increased mana regains ?

Elf would be better than human ?

Bottom line is, can it be done and if so, what would be the best set up (skills/gear/pet) for it ?

Thanks.

ive done it once with a GD and its hard work trust me, youll need an endless supply of mana, fc/fcr maxed and a damn good dragon.

if you run out of mana before DH dies, your dead, if you dont heal fast enough your dead, if you get to close and he targets you instead, your dead.

good luck :)

Thanks, since you been there and done that, to learn from your experience, could you please try recalling moreless the template/gear which you used ?

That is, what skill level you were at, whether you had mana regen maxed out, how high were your meditation or if you had also focus along with it, whether you were using necromancy and so forth.

Bottom line is, according to your experience, you think your template and gear had room for improvement or it was the top one can get, period ?

Also, since you mention using a Greater Dragon, was it a good rating GD and was it fully trained ?

Thanks.

My advice on template would be

120mage (max Heals)
120med
120focus
120myst
105taming
105lore
100Spell weaving

You need a crystaline ring, tamer tali and about 20-30points on the bracelet.

use a 3/1 bracelet with [id go +mage and taming] +15mage +10taming LMC
crystaline
mr on every piece and int bonus, LMC and LRC [id say sod resists]
conjurers garb, new apron, chaos shield [2/1] and either the mr3 book or a mr scrappers. [2/5 casting is fine scrappers if you really feel the need for 2/6]

Need a level 6 for the weaving gift of renewal, gift of life and arcane empowerment.

Mysticism is for the cleansing wind when pet gets low [removes everything and heals...use the arcane empowerment prior for max heals]

Also allows you a little free run to wod towards the end.

[Disclaimer: Ive NO idea if this works and have even less inclanation to try! This would just be my advised template and set up]

I can honestly say I never considered fighting the Dread Horn with a tamer.

Its the same reason that I have only completed the Monstrous Interred Grizzle only once on a Sampire. It's just SO easy on the other template, that the only reason to do it is to be able to say you can.

But if you want to bring a pet to the fight, you could definitely think of some "outside the box" strategies. I would think that taming, lore, necromancy, parry, swords, tactics and chivalry may be your best bet, but that would only be marginally different than a typical sampire.

TBH if your going that route you might as well just dump the taming and use vollems.

Hell...you wana think outside the box...what about this!!!

Sampire.

No anatomy/parry...TINKERING!!! [Make your own vollems during the fight!]

Well ... I cant give practical tips for that but I can add some suggestions.

I've seen ppl chain casting gheals without loosing mana. I dont know, about their stats/regen ratings but it is possible. 2/6 fc/fcr, 40% lmc and 'serious' mr should be clear. For testing purposes on how much mr is needed you could go for pendant, scrappers, totem and another 10% lmc on jewelry/armour. When you stop loosing mana on circle 4's, your set. *g*
For your tamers template I would guess, that 120 music + disco would help you more than anything else.
Every pet, that is used for such trys should be fully trained. Especially for Dreadhorn, its poison resist should be at max.
If you can chain-gheal all the time, you will have the problem of curing your pet. You need a way to deal with that.

EASY!!!

You have a few options.

1) Mystic
2) Sw
3) Sw/Cure
4) Bandies

1)Cleansing wind
2) Gift of renewal (magic pets will cure themselves)
3) arcane empowerment, cure and mini heals. [Cure will always cure and for the duration of arcane empowerment mini heals will be >= to Gheals
4) run in heal run out...under ethy voyage/honor

I've done 5 months of "Lets see if I can do [x] with a tamer". Tamers are strong in many situations, in others, its a case of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The Sampire in most cases is the round peg which is needed - they're just better equipped.

If you wanna do it with a tamer you might be able to come up with a sampire-tamer hybrid. The vampire form auto cures poison, and with you tanking, dreadhorn should leave your pets alone. Use 2 Unicorns as they're immune to poison, won't take damage with you tanking and will add a ton of DPS. No casting needed on your part except maybe curse weapon and chiv spells like enemy of one, etc.

Hmmmm, basically I understand that while there may be ways to solo Dread Horn with a tamer, it just ain't the most practical way to kill this Peerless.....
It can be done with a tamer, but at the cost of a hefty headache.... A Sampire would be much more fit for the task......

Did I get it right ?

If so, then I wonder if there is any of the Peerless bosses that is just perfect for a tamer to solo it. Or there is no Peerless where a tamer would really excel in over another template, say for example a Sampire ?

Grizzle can easily be soloed on any tamer template with vet. It's pretty easy on a spellweave Mage tamer. Just stand outside the yellow goop and vet away. If grizzle moves you have to move. Sometimes your pet will stand on top of grizzle, that's no good.

my tamer is -

115 taming
115 lore
110 vet
110 magery

obviously i use skill on jewels etc, on my tamer ive change the suit a few times but i jnever go below 2/6 40lmc, 12mr, 40ish mana increase 70's resist.

i dont like luck, cant remeber what dragons but both of mine are fully trained, one is 4.1 and the other is 4.3.
