Solo Semidar

Hi friends

Is there a pet that is immune to Semidar's double damage reflect? I tried to solo her tonight and my Cu would take an unbearable hit when he hit with AI. Thanks for your time!

Never known of a female pet, so I kinda doubt it. Best idea I can think of to try is maybe a Unicorn. Maybe there is something to that whole "only female chars can tame it" thing.

Also, is your char a male? I am always in Polymorph female form when I fight her so not sure if the double damage hits the pet when I am in that form or not.

Best ideas I could come up with.

I tried to Polymorph in hopes of sparing my pet, too. It didn't appear to work. I hated having to leave a Champ standing without killing it. But it was my first time being able to get her out solo, so that was something.

Only other possibility I can come up with then...

Maybe try the Saurosaurus. Heard someone saying something about their Sauro was immune to Physical Damage (even though most places seem to have a max on them at 83 range), supposedly it had 100 physical resist (or had 90 and corpse skin took it to 100). With Semi reflecting double damage back I assume it is the same type of damage that is done to her.. and the Sauro is 100% physical damage...

May be worth checking out.. *shrugs* I dunno.

Unless I am mistaken, they are not so much immune as they have the life leach ability available to them. LL works kind of like Consume Damage and can tank quite well. Except it consumes mana with each hit, and the super tank dramatically collapses when the mana runs out.

Was not sure how it was working but someone on Atl was tanking the heck outta a pretty mean EM Goat not too long ago that did Physical damage only. He tanked that thing for an hour easy that I saw. Thought I remembered him posting in the Tamers Forum about it being immune to the physical damage.

I took my male elf archer there with a group that had pets. OMG I just ran off screen after the third or fourth insta death. I had no idea what that boss was. I just knew that every arrow I hit her with killed me. I just read about it here. Semidar - Hunter's Guide - UO Stratics.
I think everybody died at least once. They finally managed to kill it. The other bad boss is the dang spider.

Yeah, never take a male char to Semi lol. That is why most of the male named Sampires are running around with "Lady" in front of their name. I still lol when I see someone like "Lady Bob Stone" or something..

Then there's the tale of The Midnight Hunters' Club of Lake Austin (before it became a guild), after paragons first came out, who was doing a Semidar spawn at Humility, Ilshenar, with about 15 people (we did nightly public hunts).

All our females were called away, and none of the remaining fighters were mages or tamers, before the boss spawned.

Then, when the boss spawned, something was even more wrong than usual. No one could outrun her, even mounted. She was 1-shotting people with melee attacks and spells, even killing swampies the same way.

It was a nightmare - because we had been the recipient of the bug in those first couple days of the SECRET PARAGON CHAMP. So, it was at least as strong as current bosses, 3x faster, and skill-pumped. That we were all male meant we couldn't even get close enough to recover our bodies.

Eventually, some females arrived (including an early attempt of what evolved into the Sampire template), and they took about 5 times longer than a Semidar normally should to kill.

I definitely remember those para champs.. I cringe just thinking about them lol. Of course these days, with armor being what it is, and pets being what they are.. would be fun to see how they stack up against it now.
