So what's the incentive for factions now?

I see that Tram people get invasions in cities with high loot monsters but why should I join a faction with my red to provide this?

Oh, I get it now. You either be in factions or die to the people in factions with the stupidly over-powered gear?

Instead of the dozens of guilds and alliances we have now we are going to have just four zerg guilds (factions)?

Its all clear now.

I think the changes are great and will put my old faction member back into a faction.

I like everything about this update except the item selections for faction members. Why would we give already good pvpers more of an advantage with buffed up items. Also, they will have no resell value.

Jeremy... a couple of suggestions/moans/whatever you want to call them:


1) Factions shouldn't be about "earning uber gear". It should be about wanting to take part in the 30vs30 or 50vs50, screen-crowding, lag-inducing fights of yore, where crafters and thieves had almost as much say in the outcome as the mages and warriors.
This appears (on first examination) to be nothing more than bribery to get folks into Factions... "Join-up and your stuff gets boosted."


2) What will happen if a player joins Factions, earns the super stuff, then quits? Will the items revert to the normal properties of the item?


3) ...and to quote from the UO Herald...
Factions cities will come under attack in Trammel by the forces of the Shadowlords
Does this mean that my TB red mage will be able to help in the defence of Trammel towns to the best of his abilities?
Does this mean that my Minax red fencer will be able to help in the assault on Trammel towns?

If not, why even pretend that this event has anything to do with Factions.

Factions should be about "oranges"; not "reds" and "blues"; so if my mage who is "orange" to Britain and "the forces of Chaos" cannot defend the Trammel town, this event has little to do with Factions.


4) Finally, a serious question:

Have you REALLY thought about how many non-Faction, non-Felucca, non-PvP players you are going to annoy, when they find that they can't do their normal "town-stuff" in safety, just because "Order" Factions happen to be weak on their shard?

Oh, come on... we ALL know that this is one of the biggest incentives ever given to factions. Mythic -- in a move that is as confounding as it is bizarre -- has finally given Feluccans a way to screw with the Trammies in a new and unique way.

And knowing what's left of most of the Feluccans out there, there's a ton that'll hop on the bandwagon just to watch the Trammies panic.

There's no incentive to join Factions. Oh wait, there's too much of an incentive.

Hrmmmm...

When anyone from Felucca enters Trammel for any reason they are deemed to be 'screwing' Trammies? (this has always been the common view btw)

Yet what is it the Trammies are doing when they enter Felucca for double resources and the occasional spawn/pvp? They arent screwing with us and we welcome them. We either attack them for pvp or we just let them be. In most cases they are left alone.

Its quite funny and telling that we Feluccans have no problems or prejudices at all about other folk entering our area yet the supposed 'civilized' Trammies have huge issues with guests.

The gear is nothing super new... people run comparable gear now.

With this event... if you PvP and want to take the risks of factions, you can have uber gear too... without having to farm endlessly for it.

How is this a problem...

Because some pieces are superior to what can be obtained in any other fashion in the game, add that to the fact they are only usable by factions and will carry those mods for PvM you wind up with imbalances being introduced in PvM and PvP. PvP because those that don't PvP in factions won't be able to acquire comparable gear...on Siege this isn't so much an issue on Prodo it is....because you can still be attacked by faction members even if you aren't in factions.

The risks aren't comparable. Stat loss is a huge risk to take...

To breathe some much needed life in your dull red pvp world..oh and get some nice high end arties free whilst ya it.....jeeze some people...

Err is pvp really still that big with massive pvp battles raging through the lands and helpless ganks on stray blues....No i tell the sir !! No!!

You need faction points to use these items which decay at a fairly quick pace.
