EM Announcement So Long And Thanks For All The Fish (Original I Know!)

Two years ago EM Emile Layne was training me into the EM I am today and boy has it been a ride! There has been times I absolutely loved seeing how players would react to an event, occasionally followed by immediate regret in an event design decision. Other times it's been stressful and tiring, and unfortunately right now after accepting a full time job as a web developer, I do not have the time Europa deserves. I step aside after a great time on Europa and send my best wishes to the next inline for the role as Europa's EM - It really is an extremely rewarding job!


I didn't want the post to be entirely sad, so here are my best memories from Catskills (of which I EMed on before Europa) and of Europa.

This screenshot really is a favorite of mine, I poorly decided to have a pirate ambush on an island the size of your hand - It wouldn't have been so bad if the top attacker monster didn't instantly kill everyone. Sorry Catskills!

On Europa one of my most enjoyable mini arcs was Snox the Goblin and his ship. It took nearly a week to decorate the ship and we got use out of it twice! (Some people may not know this but the ship has actually sunk and been rebuilt three times , I have a terrible memory...)


So finally, thank you all for coming to my events, it's been an absolute pleasure to see how they work from this side of the room. It's now my time to return to the other side and pick up the reporters pen once again as we await Europa's newest EM.

*sighs* That's not something I wanted to see as my first post of the day on Stratics... and then I looked closely at the screenshot and saw "The Slasher emits a powerful howl", and I thought "He's a slasher addict!" and then "where does Adris live so we can throw rotten fruit at him?! He must be punished!" But more seriously, it looked for a while like you and Emile would make a dream team on Europa, events seemed to be really picking up in ambition. A terrible shame it proved to be both of your swan songs. And I was hoping either of your talents could have been there to pass the baton on to the new EM recruits, when ever they are announced. Dark times for Europa indeed... but at least you gave us a little light when you could.

Then I remembered I saw bits had fallen off Snox's ship again when I passed it last week, and I thought "rotten fruit time again!"

Errr, with you and Emile leaving, we don't have anymore EMs right now? What will happen next week then once the elections are concluded?

Good question. I suppose the winners could try and form an unofficial interim council. Maybe we could offer events in the short term; I still have Charybdis bait for an evening of High Seas again, so I'll try and think of a time to host one later in the week.

We'll do that. I have a fine dining room in my manor and would love to invite all the new governors. I'll put up a more formal invitation the day the elections are concluded.

The loss of Emile was... hard. I sent countless mails to him (and if you ask, i took a public mail adress on EM site at that time..) and even if no answer. The "life goes on". You've been kind, you've been dull. You've been nice, you killed us. But, for me, you, Emile... its the team i will never forgott. Thank you Adris, thanks a lot. And may your undies be... bah,you will see.
