So now, to counter a necro, I have to carry apples. And if I've eaten too many apples, I eat some sort of laxative chocolate so I can eat more apples?

If you're basing your assumption on the mesage it gives when you eat it.. then no, you're very wrong.. that message only means you can eat as many chocolates / gingerbread cookies / candy canes as you want.. they don't fill you up, they just make your teeth hurt.

after testing this I found you can eat chocolate when full but nothing else.
