Do I have to join factions?

Do I have to battle RL players in Trammel if I join factions?

Can I just be my standard guild of one and participate?

Looks great. Just not sure what I have to be to fully participate.

first step is to create a char on test shard and you'll be able to find your answers

From what I've seen from Dermott in other threads, being a "Trammy" we still get action, BUT Factions can at least control where it is by their control of an area in Fel. Likewise we in Tram may squash an invasion and thus affect things too!

Factions is PvP so yeah ... real players are gonna possibly want to tangle with you. Your exceptional guild of one might wish to party or team with others in Tram for the battles - which is what I plan on doing.

That's my understanding. And I plan on seeing if my son wants to team up. He was too young character-wise for Magincia but he should do fine in a couple places if we coordinate cross-healing. He's not fully developed but in many instances I can tank for him.

Does this means that if we destroy the invaders... the fell faction loses the town?

It sounds reasonable to me... faction players control a town on Fel... start an invasion... trammel defenders destroy the invaders... and the faction players lose the town...

A big CIRCLE... :thumbup1:

You don't have to join a faction, if you don't want to. Faction wars only seem to trigger the invasions.

You can just stay in Trammel with your guild and fight back the invading monsters, thus helping to free a town.

Your characters are the adventuring type, I'm assuming? You need not join factions to participate. The invasions will spawn in Trammel cities and you head there and help defend them. There are also a few new quests added which I haven't tried yet on TC.

People seem to have this perception that faction fighting is coming to Trammel. That's not the case. All that will happen is when a city is invaded (By Monsters), there cities will turn into a battlefield, allowing the casting of EVs, field spells, earthquake, and all those other spells you normally can't cast in towns. The pvp rules all remain just as they are.

I think u will miss out a lot on the event if u dont join a faction......Think im gonna run with one NEWLY factioned char so i can see both sides of the flipped coin.....

faction only....
Faction Equippables: A set of enhanced Artifacts. They will be available for purchase via a collection box in your Faction Stronghold (later on, silver collected this way will benefit your faction, but that will be in a future publish.) These items will have several restrictions:

Bound to the character that purchases them - they won't be tradable or equippable by anyone else
Durability has been added to many of them, requiring repairs as they're damaged
Can only be repaired with the new Powder of Perseverance, a faction-only item. (Powder of Fortification will not work on them)
Available only to certain ranks; if you lose your faction rank you will no longer be able to equip an item of that rank.
We'll release the full table of items in the notes when the publish goes to Test Center, but here are a few examples so you can see what we mean by "enhanced":
Rank 1: Rune Beetle Carapace with additional +3 to all resists
Rank 4: Crimson Cincture with additional +5 Dexterity
Rank 7: Spirit of the Totem with enhanced resists (instead of the linked resists, this version has Phys 20% and 10% in each of the others)
Rank 9: Folded Steel Reading Glasses with additional +10 DCI
Rank 10: Ornament of the Magician with additional Mana Regen 3
There are a total of nineteen new artifacts spread out across the various tiers.

Faction Consumables: In addition to the new artifacts, a number of new consumables will be available for purchase with silver. Anyone in the faction will be able to use the items (they are freely tradable) but there will be a cooldown on many of the items, based on rank. Examples of the consumables include:
Stronghold Rune: One-use item that will teleport you to your faction HQ (standard criminal flagging rules apply)
Shrine Gem: One-use item that can be used to teleport your ghost to the nearest shrine
Powder of Perseverance: A variant of Powder of Fortification that can be used on the new faction items.
Enhanced bandages that also remove curses
Two new types of potions
There will also be a new item for sale that allows Human players to equip Elven items.

I'm not keen on being in factions, and have no interest in pvp. I Therefore plan to concentrate my efforts on the 3 quests to heal Magincia.

I'm not sure if non-factioneers can aid in fighting the monsters in Trammel. I won't be going to Felucca on a combat char. My pvp skills have been tried and found to be close to non-existant. I do not enjoy the experience.

The real issue here is when have you ever seen an invasion end due to some hypothetical "mob squashing"? Just look at moonglow. It was a cycle "supposedly" cranking up or down depending on the mob squash.

Its my opinon that if all of us trammies dont unite our beloved towns may never be free of dragon stealing monsters or orcish raiding parties!

You must understand those that live in fel are all uniting under one bamnner as we speak! Trammy UNITE!

(or are you too "forum board pvp" oriented to do so? I know we flame and even sometimes bite but we never get together as a group of trammilites ever. This is our time. This is our calling Unite!

If you wish to PvP as part of the event you can join a faction and capture or defend towns. If you prefer to PvE you can fight off the invasion or work to free the souls in Magincia. If you don't want combat at all, you can go trick-or-treating!

Oh come on! Get with the times ... PvE is just as appropriate as PvM. Part of "E" is a Great Hart which I do not consider a "monster" unless BR infected and I'm on a new character.

Whutevah ... seriously. To-mah-to, To-may-to. Take care! :)
