It's getting close to the end of the year, so I figured up how i've done at events so far...
I have gotten 62 drops out of 115 drop-having events that I've attended (I do 11 shards). this does not count the guaranteed attendance items like royal spy stuff. It also doesn't count the multiples I have gotten like on Atl events with multiple bosses or the 3 dolphins I got at the Sonoma stealing event. It also doesn't count the world event gem things or mesanna roulette stuff. Out of the 115 events there were 13 that I did not getting looting rights on. Since I only use 1 character at the events (except for a few times on GL and LA I tried using 2 guys but not good at getting rights with both) I received 62 drops out of 102 possible chances at a drop (115 events minus 13 with no looting rights) for a success percentage of 60.8. I would say that is pretty damn good. Unfortunately about 95% of the higher value drops seem to elude me though, but still a good year thus far.

You guys suck lol, Been back 2 years, have gotten 1 drop, and it was during my first month. Didnt know about the crazy inflation for rares and sold super cheap (40mil). Was Bernambras (sp) Treasure Chest.

just get looting rights on the boss or bosses (ATL and GL tend to have more than 1 now) and you have a chance to get a drop. All damage done, healing done, and damage taken counts towards getting rights on the boss.

average time for events is about an hour. as an estimate, for every event that has a drop there is one that doesn't (about 4 events per month on GL, 2 have drops, same with ATL, other shards average 1-3 events per month and each have 1 drop a month), so just an estimate I would say that since I attended 115 drop-having events then I probably attended about that many non-drop events, so 230 events, so 230 hours invested this year.

didn't post it to brag. I just enjoy the statistics of these kinds of things and have shared in the past and others have shared/compared.

its a playstyle. the same could be said for how much time do you have to "invest" to get a slither from medusa, deco a house, or do anything in the game. its fun. yes, some people treat it like a job, use cheat programs, go crazy on multiple characters etc. but for most its a fun hobby to do with friends.

to break things down
building a character (can either hand train, use soas / sots, or do instant mythic token character) then get the character to the shards you play on one way or antoher (or build one on the shard, but most dont have gear / crafters everywhere)

then its a bit of doing just finding out when the events are, because its a mix of about 5 different information sources (facebook, uoem.net pages, uo.com calender, town criers, in-game steady schedule, and now to a lesser extent stratics) this is probably the hardest part.

then making time for events, ive never cancelled plans or not made them just to go to a video game event, but i have kinda rushed home becaues i knew a drop event was happening that night. Ive also set my alarm for 5am on a weekend morning to go to asian ones lol. if your time zone doesnt work out, or you work evenings, then ya your kinda just out of luck.

then you have the event itself. actual time investment: about 1-3 hours per chance at drop. this includes attending events that dont have drops (but might) and the shards whos events stretch to the 2 hour plus mark. its best to attend all the events for the shards your keeping up with the story.

So yes, it does take a bit of time commitment, but no more than other hobbies a persons can be dedicated to.

well lineman. you probably still wont be able to get drops on your crappy fencer. but several people get drops reliably on naked characters fresh off the start screen. so its pretty casual. not nearly as rewarding for many as when it was top-damager, now its just like "oh i got a drop" not "i earned this drop by playing the game extremely well" But yeah, everyone has a very good chance now. its easy mode. numbers are very high because of multiple character use now, so nothing is exactly "rare" but its still fun.

Ill have you know I have a few tamers too lol. But I have been trying to crank out some throwers as well. Have a few that are decent now.
