Smoke bombs + Faction runes = PvP joke

They make even Fel a land of care bear domination. Low on life? Smoke bomb. Get attacked by a PK party? No worries, you don't need to have skill or be slick, just click your faction rune.

And smoke bombs are stackable now, right? Eh. I'm one sided on this one so I can only agree that I don't like how they work, haha.

It's because fel. IS carebear land.

I see more and more complaining from the little carebears playing pvp, than anything else. Did someone not just make a poll about dismounting?? How much more plushier can you guys have it??

Balance, balance, balance,...an endless whine.

Nerf this, nerf that, always wanting it easy, heaven forbid a carebear has to think. No, It needs to be changed from pvp, to CvC...........

Stealth on the other hand needs to be removed completely from fel lands. You play fel for the action, not for the stealthing!

I don't even so much mind stealthing. It is the fact someone can hit one key, and be hidden, and also moving away instantly. When is my mage going to get the key that casts a combo, targets the opposing guy, chugs a heal pot for me, and then gates me to safety?

Stealthing is a large part of a thief's template. Are you saying do away with someone else's playstyle just to suit your own? Oh what limited foresight.

To be honest though, if each guild had just one person with detect hidden around at all times, there wouldn't be much whining about this. And heck, if they also had tracking, even better!

Reason being is not only can you go and reveal these hiders, but they also have an outrages passive detect bonus. You simply can't stealth around someone with GM detect. I ran around with GM detect and everyone hated me for it! lol

People whine about hiders/stealthers all the time. However the skill to counter hiders/stealthers are there.

Problem is though, hide/stealth have more than one use. IE death strike. But detect and track add nothing else to a template. It is very hard to build a solo template around these skills.

-- If your able to smokebomb then your down at least 150 points.. 50 ninja & 100 hiding. (Most likely more) Which means any decent PvP'er should be able to Trash you.


I don't really care if some templates get that Free "Get out of Jail Card" as long as the same templates aren't PvP powerhouses etc.. On my shard at least 3 stealthers fighting my mage is doable and sure killing them might be tough but for a 3 on 1 they have a very tough time killing me bc they lack offense...

Im curious as to know how someone fights 3v1 and survives? Explain your scenario please...Of course if you are playing against 3 other pvp'rs with less than par connections, well, who wouldn't be able to survive or even kill them?

I wanted to just comment about the "lack of offense" a stealther has...3 stealthers for instance, 1 is human and get the JOAT, the other 2 elf and are using lets say 40 tracking in their stealth templates. All 3 have no problem tracking you for maximum DS damage. All 3 pop out and immediately DS you. If all 3 hit, you're toast. If only 1 hits, the other 2 are swinging almost instantly again and you're off given them the tour. Simple scenario that is played out each and every day with these so called "lack of offense" templates...

as stated before, faction runes have a timer, so really they are really not that big of a deal. As for smoke bombs, if your fast enough, they are not a big deal either. Usually anyone who uses them is a stealth archer, all you have to do is mana vamp and they are dead, or have a conflag pot rdy as soon as they hide. They take less defense to play the templates they play, you can benefit from it if you know what your doing.

Lets not get ride of stealth because the thieves need it. Lets just get ride of smoke bombs then. A skilled thief wouldn't need to smoke bomb away right?

This scenario works for someone that may have just started playin for a week. In reality though, any dexxor worth his salt that gets hit with mana vamp will just run. Simple as that. What would be your counter for that? Isn't the point of pvp simply that? Player vs. Player. Not, ha ha you can't kill me, nah nah nah nah nah.

Could any decent mage explain to me the damage output of mana vamp btw? Just curios as to how this spell will kill me? I've been playin siege for what 11 yrs + now and i've never been killed by this spell...

Smoke bombs are a complete and utter joke. Whoever put them is should be smacked.

As for the detective part do u actually play one or did u just spout nonsense? I have a gm tracking detector. First theres human form, monster form, and animal form. By the time u track the correct one(ASSUMING U DONT ****ING MISS HOW THE **** DO U FAIL TRACKING AT GM) they are long gone. Also detect hidden SUCKS. I use it everyday it ALSO FAILS. So lets see first u waste countless time tracking. Then more time failing detect man this is so bad ass. Why didnt i think to have one in my guild ALL THE TIME.

As for the conflag pot bull****. U realize even dmgd u stay hidden over half the time? My thief in dog form(hp regen) and a 18 hp regen suit got hit with 5 eqs and never got revealed. RNG at its finest but it happens. Same with conflag pots they dont always reveal and then u have to wait a timer to throw another. Purple pots have a timer already.

Smoke bombs should work just like the hiding skill. What is it 8 tiles or something like that? There is no way someone should be able to ****ing insta hide next to someone they just flagged on. Its beyond ****ing stupid.

Nothing like dismounting a worthless speedhacker so u can actually try to keep up with him only to see him immed smokebomb stealth away and remount.

Yes I do have a player with detect hidden. It is very helpful for me as I put it on my thief to get those hidden scripters. I also don't bother using tracking since you don't really need it to reveal your target. If you have a general idea of where your target it there is no point in using tracking. It does help if you're wanting to follow them though since it doesn't fail as much as you seem to claim.

I've used it many times when I was experimenting with also having it on my thief and it's not very hard to catch your person in there. But I find running with just detect is enough. Saves me more room in skills to just go with detect. Also GM detect also seems to help tracking, even with jack of trades. I am still able to catch GM stealthers with a human at GM detect and 0 tracking. The tracker doesn't last as long and I am not able to catch them as fast, but it still works.

But since my goal is to reveal them, whether through passive detect by wandering around their general area while the are stealthing or through targeting, detect is enough.

So of course if your trying to track your person INSTEAD of trying to reveal them is a waste of time unless they are trying to avoid you, lmao.

But detect is more than just reveal the hider since it makes it impossible for stealthers to move around you.

Edit: Although detect as A LOT more powerful before they tinkered with it. Think it was around AOS when they changed it. Before the area-of-effect was the entire screen and there was no timer on the skill. Could just reveal-reveal-reveal-reveal....and so on with no pause. Now you have to be careful about targeting as the area of effect is greatly reduced.
