Someone on Sonoma is selling a skull mug for 20mill, how can I tell if this is a real rare or a fake? There are so many ways to fake items anymore I cant tell whats real and what isnt. Please Help Me
Probably fake. 20mil is too cheap, I would hop in the EC or something if I were you and see if there is a stack of them that you just can't see. If there are a bunch then they are definitely fake.
Idk the ins and outs of making fake items but there are some people in-the-know here so to speak. And nothing can really be done about vendors like that. Tell the home owner if it's not their vendor. Drop books in front of it saying the items are fake, get horses and name them fake skull mugs and leave them in front of the vendor, or something along the lines. That's about all there is to do unfortunately.
By looking at what else they have on their vendor I would have to say a fake. Finally someone has a skull mug on the same vendor as some items that have lost their name and reverted back to their original. Up until this point point a lot of people have speculated if skull mugs are in the same boat or not as those items. Now that someone has 5+ reverted name items and a skull mug (left handle) on the same vendor it seems it has to be more then a coincidence.
Your right about the handle. I didnt notice till you mentioned it. But it is on the wrong side for a real skull mug. Thank you all for your input, and saving me 20 mill. Too bad we have to worry about this kind of thing.
If you think that something is suspicious, email the coordinates and information to EA. The position of the handle is something that past suspicious skull mugs have in common. Most of the other items on the vendor ARE from a current exploit... http://vboards.stratics.com/uo-rares-collector/216457-exploit-items.html
The fact I see another of the stealing buff graphics on it that have been relabeled suggest to me that there is a current working exploit for those items as well. I'll do some investigating on that as soon as I have time. I would be cautious of buying any of the items that are similar to the stealing buff items or at least understand that if there is a working exploit to create the renamed versions that your investment could essentially be made worthless.
