Skill speeds are weird!

In TC3, right at this moment I am skilling at a place that only does charm and cooking. I am skilling at 120%, and the guy next to me, also skilling cooking, is skilling at 144%, confirmed that both of us are skilling cooking. On the mirrors, where you can *only* skill charisma, same thing, the one person skilling 120% on one mirror, a few inches away somebody else skilling at 144%. Wonder what's up with it.

Yeah LMAO, I think its funny.

Two ppl on Charisma were both at 144%. I'm at 118% on body but the girl next to me is at 141%.

Did someone forget their wake me up drink before updating the server or is this some kind of skill test based on individual skill levels? LOL

Like I said in game, never a dull moment on TC3, ya never know what's gonna happen from one maintenance to another!

I know LOL. Just for kicks I switched over to mech, where I am the only one studying mech....it too is at 120%. Gonna time it and see how long it takes me to gain a point and see if the 120% is just a graphical glitch underneath the real skill or if this is an actual skill speed...I'm at 7.99 right now, so we should know soon.

I *love* testing!

Edit already: No, I can't be skilling really at 30%, cuz in the time it took me to make this post I went from 7.99 to 8.02. As difficult as it is to find mech speed the heck with it I'm gonna keep skilling mech if I can do it at full speed by myself! LMAO

It must be something new they are testing in TC3, but this tiem they are keeping quiet after the last uproar?

Ive just taken another look and it seems that the lower the skill level, the higher the speed. People at 11 or less are getting 144% while people with 13 or over are getting 120%

No forget that, I just spotted someone with level 4 skill at 120%

No, I thought the same thing too, but in the house I am in there's somebody with 3 points studying at 144% and somebody else with 2 points getting 120%, I can't find a pattern to it, but this is cool....like an Easter egg hunt while we try to figure out what they are testing till they announce it....at least it's testing something positive this time

At 118% it took me 26 seconds to go from 7.78 to 7.79... something tells me that's not right. 7 ppl on Body and one is at 141%.

I know, I'm at 8.23 now since my last post. it's flying...maybe they answered the prayers of the 500% people but just don't want the display to reflect it so nobody can hold them to doing it again. Or maybe when we stand up to green we'll lose whatever skill we gain....that'd be a bummer....we'll shall see when I have to green again. LOL

G

Guest

Guest
Okay, how's this for weird.

I left to green, leaving 6 ppl skilling. skill dropped to 85% for all but the one that was 141%, she dropped to 102%. One more person left, leaving 5 to skill, and the 85% ppl went UP to 111% and the one at 103% went UP to 133% *scratching head* heck if I know LOL!

G

Well all our *guests* in TC3 that are testing in TC3 for the cap need skill anyway, so maybe this is a way for them to get it without investing alot of time in doing so....soooooo testers, come skill with the residents! LOL

G

Guest

Lets just hope we get to keep the skills we earn doing this and its not like jobs where you leave the lot and lose what you made eeeeek!

G

Guest

Guest
No, I tested that one unwillingly a minute ago....got my normal error 23, went back and still had the skill I'd gained, so at least we know that's not a problem. I was sweating that one LOL.

G

Guest

Guest
Anddddd......nobody's going afk while skilling, house chat is flying as people try to connect the dots and somebody suggests a pattern and somebody else says, 'it can't be that because of......' just like we are here. I love it, devs! You've made skilling fun for the day for everybody!

fixin to get up to green... .82 of a point in 30 minutes.....gotta love it!

G

Guest

maybe this is only part of having these random and different skill speeds as mentioned in the blog. However, its kinda weird to see the guy next to me skilling at a different speed hehe

G

Guest

Yeah, kept the skill I gained. Came back from work with 8 pts. Cages give me 118% and bench presses give me 120%

*still scratchin head and laughin'*

ooh kept money from work too!

Yep my sim is still skilling mech and is at 9.22 now. At this rate she'll have 14 by the time I have to log off for church. \o/ Roach traps here I come

Got another sim simultaneously testing the cap...didn't do any testing on that yesterday so I got a guilty conscience LOL
. So far I've errored twice on that sim and haven't lost her money....going to do my job track (DJ) when it rolls around so she'll work a little faster toward her cap.

I have three sims running. On each screen the speeds are all different except the sim that i'm running (meaning the one i have pulled up at the moment) says 144% and the rest say 120%. And they all do that. So i'm guessing it's just a screen glitch but you're all skilling at whatever speed you see your sim have.

Cool, I have mine doing the dancer track. I have no clue what I'm doing but most of the time it works LOL Just trying to figure out why I've done 49 rounds and haven't been promoted to Local Talent yet. And why when I have people in front of me for a long time, I actually get LESS money.

Sheesh I've gained .70 in points since I got back from my sim job (had 8.00). I think its going faster than 120%.

Do you have the friend and body skill requirements?

I have 16 friends and 8.90 in body right now. I'm still at level 2 with 49 total rounds under my belt. Keeps telling me I need to improve my mood but social is never more than 1/8 down. I'm doing one more shift to see what happens.

ETA: 53rd round I got promoted (or 46th round if you don't count the shift when we got no pay)

Not sure if anyone else tested this and I haven't read every post in this thread so apologies for potential redundancy, but the last time superskill was on I ran home to my store lot and tried a bookcase there - no effect. Thus, obviously superskill only works on skill lots. Today however, I went home to test the cc re-order (still fubared), and then tried a bookcase just for S&Gs . . . and am skilling on my store lot @ 100%. Of course I was suspicious of this information because I have noticed superskill doesn't have much effect if any on the skill points actually _moving_ *ahem*. But within a moment or two I went up one sub-point. So, I've taken a few moments to respond in another thread, was halfway through replying to this one, and went back to the game window to see what little Wizzy was doing, and have moved up four more skill sub-points. Awesome. This kind of eases the pain of some of the other testing manuevers us moochy free players have had to endure (yeah that was sarcasm but all in fun *grin*).

Cool! 100% on store lots! Wished they'd bring back CC reordering already though.

I found out that you do need 1 friend for the first promo in the DJ track, but surprisingly I could not find a single person that wanted to stop skilling to friend up, so I brought one of my other sims to friend with my tester, then I logged her out. I've got to go to church tonight or I'd work one more DJ job, but when I work tomorrow I oughtta get promoted. I'm still enjoying this increased skill speed. 4 points in one day of skilling is AWESOME.

This has always been the case, lol. The nightclub scoring defies analysis. Some of the best testers who ever played TSO spent hours and hours studying nightclub and the final conclusion was: it is basically a lottery. To this day I hear people say they made more going AFK for 99% of the round than they did pressing buttons the entire round. Go figure. When the devs have time, maybe one of them can blow the dust of the original nightclub design and clue us in -- or better yet, fix the damn thing so it is more than just an exercise in surviving boredom!

Good luck variable skill rate testers. Maybe a circuit board will overheat and boost you all to 1,000% or something really fun.

EAlandmania.net (the former tsomania.net) has a fantastic chart that shows what is required for promotions for each job. This site deserves the gaming equivalent of the Pulitzer prize, IMO. Even if I am against their use of the privacy invading widget thingy that shows when and where you signed in, I have to give the site as a whole a thumbs up. No, two! Consult it for any game questions.

Yep, that's where I found the info finally LOL I just hadn't looked at it yet because it's been so long since I've worked anything besides restaurant job and that one *didnt* require friends for the first promo as I recall, so I didn't realize DJ did. I just skilled the creativity up high enough where I wouldnt' have to deal with it for several promos and figured I'd look at the chart for the friend requirements after I got to level 1. But yeah, EAL Mania is a handy little site, and I even like the signature thingy......but then my "stalker" button is never disabled in game so that shows I don't have a problem with anybody tracking me down if they want to. Given some of my opinions around here, I figure if anybody was gonna put a 'hit' out on my sim they would have by now LOL.....but maybe that's why I'm glad tagging is gone.....LOL.
