Since when are they deleting inactive accounts ?

Since when are they deleting accounts when they have been inactive for over 3 years ??

I never heard of that before, but a friend that was considering returning got this message when she called support yesterday...

I remember a post by a returning player a few weeks ago who mentioned support at first not being able to find his account or something like that. Eventually, after insisting and talking to some "higher-up" supervisor, the account was found and the player able to return to Ultima Online....

I think Mesanna or some other official rep should really look into this issue of being it so hard for players to return to Ultima Online.
I think it would be worth the extra resources for the game.

Every time I read something like that, it just makes me Pi**ed off. So is it construed as the customer is lying, or they're making it up? Granted, a lot of clients aren't the brightest, but should a trained CS rep fall into that same boat? In some cases, it seems it might be easier to steal an acct rather than re-activate one. What the heck is going on???

I'm thinking Messanna said once, "Oh, that's them, that's not us". Well by dinghies, I feel it IS her, and I think maybe she misspoke (no disrespect intended). Isn't she Associate Producer of UO? not associate help manager over the UO developer and artists' area. It's been said to ask her (Cal in the past), people have, and many have been helped, thankfully. Further, in the past, there's been multiple direct communication from Producer to CS/GM, explaining to them what to do/not do. I see zero reason why 'someone' (hey, maybe that Twitter guy?) can't get w/ the CS head and say enough is enough!?

I wanted to reactivate my acct last November, and they couldn't find it. It took 3months, a number of calls, and being very calm, but I got my acct back a few days ago.

Now, granted, it was, to a point, my not providing the proper info. I thought it was under one of a possible 3emails, but somewhere in the past, I had changed it to an email that belonged to small company I owned and had forgotten all about that email.

Ask them if they can check the for the toons name on your shard. Provide them with any email addresses you might have had, and be nice. They will want to go the extra mile for a nice person, and will only do what is required of them to someone who is a pain in the butt.

I last played this acct in 2003, so time is not a factor. Took me 3months, half a dozen calls over that 3 months, and being nice.

I've had a feeling for a while that a lot of problems people are having are due to user error.

I wouldn't say it's 100% user error but it's a lot.

You can still put much of that blame though on EA.

The Account Management migration was poorly implemented and the system is far from intuitive.

My friends problem is that she forgot the password and no longer has acces to the emailadress she used. She has active acces to a secondary account that her kids use.
Would love to see her return, but if she needs to start from scratch I doubt she will :(

If she doesn't have access to the accounts original email or have the original billing information intact she is hooped, I just went threw this trying to restore a old account.

what about the origional registration key? you used to be able to regain access with that. (if you still have your old cd's)

They did inactive account deletion only once. Only never paid trial accounts registered years before this was deleted.

My friends both managed to get the accounts after talking to someone else at support.
Accounts were NOT deleted, and it did not take long to find them....
Makes one wonder who on earth is answering theese calls !

Being able to retrieve an acct with an in game char name and the shard it is on does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I must have been really lucky, My first phone call and i got my account by providing the username and date of birth (plus some previous email address's) but couldnt for the life of me remember the last email i used.

Created the account in 1999.

Agreed, didn't give me the warm fuzzies either, but as a last resort since they couldn't seem to find it any other way.....it was worth the shot.

Glad to hear others are getting their accts back, congrats.
