I think they just need to fix the town crier system. The criers are still on about the last Tokuno event, they added more for the Thanksgiving event and my poor Sherry Mouse is all out of date too.

Just a thought; I wish I could program my Sherry Mouse to tell guildies stuff they need to know. Like 'Meli tonight; meet here at 8pm'. As well as her being hooked up to the town crier system.

I think it would be great to be able to "script" a Barkeep or Sherry, but and this is a BIG BUT, it would need to be limited to the owners home/guild house and to trigger said info one would need to interact with the NPC/object. Of course this would get abused by some, but limiting the exposure should take care of 95% of the issues.

We say news atm, how about 'guild news' for the stuff I could script her? Then it only pops if someone actually says the keywords.

Yep - that would be what I would be hoping for. Heck allow the owner to set the "trigger word/phrase" while we are at it. Otherwise I think this is a fine idea.

This is possible with a barkeep - could dress them up to look like a towncrier perhaps?

You can put them on ignore in your filter. I know the point is they are out of date and shouldn't be there, but they will shut up if you ignore them. I have the Hallowe'en criers and Gorrow the mayor ignored.

I believe the next time they're updated they have a new identity and won't be on your ignore list so you won't miss anything important. Besides which, the news here is more timely.
