Siege's Event Interest?

Alright here it is after reading the fight night thread, I might be posting this alittle out of mind as its 3:20am and Ive been up since 8 but here it goes..

Ive held events in the past, some will defend my ability to do so, others will disregard me as anything reputable. However, the events I have held in the past have been annual and repeating, this is not a good thing for Siege as we are in an ever-changing game and life and cant be arsed to be repetative or such..

If I were to hold a few events, 1 timers, possible 1ce a month or 1ce every 2-3 months (depending on the magnitude) would I have:

1) Large scale shard involvement
2) Help coordinating the event (I could do it with just some resources as I'm currently broke in game and cant finance much)
3) What kind of events are we looking for?
4) Does prize matter? Would it draw more people? Are people in such case willing to pay an entry fee? If so what should it be to be affordable and prize worthy

Some event ideas I have are:

-Life Size Chess Tournament
-Pirating Tournament
-Some sort of crafter tournament (to claim bragging rights)
-House design of some sort?
-Bagball tournament (possibly with a weird mix of PvP if called for since this is Siege)

im all for events i have been thinking about a foot race. we always ***** about how fast some are this would allow all to put it to a test i figured have a few k buy in and let that money go to the 3 runners up put ghost along the way and the runners wear nothing but the loin cloth it could start say at the south gate of luna and eand at the west gate of umbra and like every race would have peoplerunning the race with news cameras. only thing is how to prevent cheating any ideas?
also i think 30k entry fee could make a nice pot if we had a good bit of runners. is this crazy?

agreed, FYI I play this game too much, I log about a minimum of 6 hours a day sometimes I log 12 hours a day and if im having a good uo day and im in the middle of my work break ( I work 6 on 3 off) i have been known to play uo up to 24 hours ( with some minor breaks). If not I find myself going to bed and logging right back on like today for instance.

With that said I love events and love building community, I'm just not one to lead such things ( well maybe in the future) But I will assist in anyway I can, be it manpower or money.

But I would love to have the help of someone interested in setting up quests also. Id love to have more info on the crafter quest idea too. I was thinking of a hide and seek quests making use of the 10 accounts i have that are all named Czarina hehe. Anyways contact me we could swap ideas and set something up.

I mentioned this before, at one point or another.. But I feel as if Siege can get more activities and become more active with events..

I have ideas for events, and obviously I'm not the only one but as most of us don't play UO as a profession, I would say we all have obligations and cant put forth the time or effort it sometimes takes to hold a successful event..

I am looking to create a pact of people who's common goal is to host successful and popular events enjoyed by all types of members of our playerbase.

This pact will not be recognized under any guild tag, nor will it be any sort of alliance or field alliance. However, members will have a common interest of holding events, and will plan and discuess future events once weekly over a public ventrilo.

Anyone whom is interested in this idea of being part of a group, whom has ideas, and the time to put forth on events..

I speak here on behalf of the "Senior Citizens" who recently traveled from Catskills and are now part of Gilfane:
We love player organized events and back when such things were going on in our old world we always pitched in and helped the organizers in any way we could. We participated in several "nekkid runs" and they were a hoot for participants and spectators alike. Pet tournaments were very popular also, especially the chicken fights. Almost anyone can tame a greater chicken and train it up and it is amazing how tough they can get. My pigeon is 13071026 or if Hoffs is on a committee for an event she can let us know how we can help out.

what would be good for UO is historical Italin ,German,English,French,armor and sword of the 1500's quests.With a two handed german sword better than a soul seeker so you did not need the shield and have to train in 2-handed german long sword but it did not take away any points from 720 but enhanced your origanil sword attack.:gun::gun:

Alright before this post gets forgotten about, or people assume I forgot about it heres a mini-update..

Ive gotten PM's from various people, most of them even concerning a specific quest they'd like to run. I have added ICQ's and made a sub-catagory for "Hosts" on my ICQ..

I have yet to really ICQ anyone extensively, but I will be contacting those whom have contacted me shortly today, asking some preliminary questions of whom is to write up the details and such.. Once I contact each host depending on the ETA I think the event will take to properly hold I will either schedule them according to

1) Time to plan
2) Time the other host(s) can attend
3) Which event interests siege the most will be done first (will ask for a poll)

While I consider the avatar to be in questionable taste there isn't actually any mention in RoT of avatars having to be epileptic-friendly.

On a different note. A really fun bagball contest that was held on Europa some years ago used Yew prison roof as the 'court' with the goals being at the West end of the two large areas and the walkways inbetween creating much mayhem at the bottlenecks. pvp was obviously included. I don't know how one normally gets onto the roof, I was gated in by someone who already had a rune there.

We used to hold 'fightnights' on the larger, Northern roof. Multiple contests happening at once, totally informal just challenge someone, if the challenge was accepted someone cast a wall and away we went. Rules were agreed between combatants.

Lamest fight I was challenged to was a mage who decreed 'no pots'. My char was a dexxer, Chiv was new and I didn't have it, bushido wasn't in game and bandage times were 12 seconds. She had the nerve to complain that some of her poison spells were resisted.

I find your avatar in very poor taste and since my best friend has siesures I do indeed have a very valid reason to be offended; it also give me a headache if I leave it on the screen to long.

It really does hurt my eyes so I have to either a) skip past your posts or b) hold my hand up to the screen while blocking it so I can read it and sometimes when there's a lot of posts/replies by you it's just too annoying to bother with so I don't get to read your content.
