I am going to add a word of caution to our housing new players, [outside of NEW guild and it's unique set up], into our own homes, as well.
I once ran a barracks on Chesapeake and housed 10 homeless folks.
NP for the most part, I used an empty spare home and gave them each 2 chests of their own to stow their stuffs.. or 250 lockdown items per player in 2 chests each.
At first these were set to *friends* and no one pilfered the others's stuffs at all for quite some time.
Then one person DID go into all the other new ones chests, and took their stuffs of value.
I issued them all their own keys, no copy key even for myself as home owner, for their own chests to keep out any other jerks, from pilfering their chests.
I banned the jerk once we found out whom of them, it really was. Stealin from trusted folks INSIDE a home to me is wrong, stealin out of backpacks as a thief is game ok, but not in a house where every one is sharing, together alike, like an army barracks !
Then of the 9 honest ones remaining, 4 placed homes and were gone and took their treasures with them. But 2 of em never logged back again. Thus I ended up with 4 chests belonging to 2 people whom I gave keys to, to lock up their chests, didnt make a copy for myself being honest sort, gave them their chest keys to even protect them from ME.
Not like I ever pilfer but in the end, that empty house got stuck with 250 items x 2 persons that never logged back in again ever...or 500 items my house was stuck with on the item count list. Luckily it was a spare empty house, but ya GOT to have rules and some END contract of timing, like a month or so, or ya may get stuck with someones stuffs that may never log back in again, and ya also have to establish some way that no one ELSE in the house can enter the storage chests of the *other* homeless ones, your are housing, too.
I am still looking for the return of the person I gave 2 storage chests to, a lil over a week ago to log back in to reclaim her pretties and treasures from her first IDOC on Siege. I hope she returns....I gave her her own keys tellin her TRUST NO ONE, so she could lock up her 2 chests, herself,
sooooooooo even I can not enter her storage chests. Those chests will remain till she returns *soon* I hope to claim her stuffs or to resume playing on Siege.
My own stuff in there, what little it is, is behind doors, doors and chests, set to OWNER only, so even my alts can not enter Joesef's rooms.
IF ya run a barracks/inn/youth hostel etc. of any sort ...just be cautious for whatever whomever whom we do not know at all, and try to set up some kinda safe guards for the others in there and for what little of YOUR OWN stuff may be in the empty home too, and keep tabs on ye house item count, should they opt to possibly never return, ya may be stuck with their items locked up in a chest in your home only they can enter.
